Just read on NERR about Penn’s final Elite Camp of the summer which is held at the Palestra. Seven days spread out in the summer of six hours of instruction and games. $199.00 per camp. Does HC hoops have an Elite Camp? HC has had an Elite camp, not sure if they still do....I saw JM and Mike Rabs at the HC elite camp....

Here is a name that may pop up on HC's radar down the road. Cedrick Semilien, a 6'1" class of '23 pg from St. Bernard's in Uncasville, CT. NERR gave him a shout out the other day. He was MVP of the Hoop Group Academic Elite Camp last week in PA. He doesn't show up on VC so he is probably lightly recruited. He might be a kid who benefits from a year of prep school a year from now. For you old timers like me, Uncasville might ring a bell as I believe it was where Corny Thompson played. According to Semilien's Twitter page, he has a 3.4 GPA. St. Bernard's is in RJ Evans old stomping area so perhaps he can help with recruiting Semilien. HC was certainly a good choice for RJ coming from Salem, Ct.

Corny was from Middletown, home of Wesleyan U. Uncasville's known only for the casino, as far as I know.
Theoretically, HC had a shot at the guy, but some of the "ones that got away" in those days turned out to be as exaggerated as your basic fish tale.

Jones has received 5 D1 offers, all in the last 6 weeks. I wonder if his plan was to attend Worcester Academy for a while now and HC’s offer came after that decision.

According to nothingbutnet.com, Jones has really improved of late and is an excellent shooter. They made a reference to Williston-Northampton School, another Member of the NEPSAC, so maybe that was his plan a few months ago and somehow, WA ended up being his destination for a pg year.

It seems odd to me that a kid from Los Angeles would go across the country to go to prep school--maybe that is common practice with sthletes?

Ryan Mela, another 6’6” forward from Natick Ma we have offered, also plays for the Magic. Mela is not in NERR’s top 30 in Massachusetts. Looks like Mela has left Natick HS for the Newman School in Boston. Never heard of it but it is listed as a NEPSAC school.

How many of this group will they get to visit the campus? We know 2 of the 12 have visited.

I don't believe that there are opportunities to play at prep schools like the ones in New England on the west coast, and if you're a kid interested in academics, playing at an NE prep school maximizes your exposure to those schools.

Do schools like WA offer full athletic scholarships to sign talented PG's? My guess would be no particularly since I can't recall that subject ever being bandied about on Crossports.

Nugent played for the Middlesex Magic AAU program. Same for Batchelder. Anyone remember if Luc played for the Magic? It would be nice to develop a pipeline to a program that is generally as well-stocked with talent as the Magic. Middlesex Magic - 2024 UAA Team Profile NERR just posted an article about Middlesex Magic' 2024 UAA team. (I am guessing that is the Under Armor Association so we now have AAU UAA teams). HC has offered two of the kids. Ryan Mela, who now appears to have reclassified to 2024 as part of his transfer to Newman School and Austin Hunt.

The Basketball Group has visited a number of academic elite colleges this summer including Holy Cross. Great exposure to schools by this program.

Academics is very big at BTI. visiting the Ivies and the PL, except for AU and Loyola. They bring in Division III coaches to run clinics, e.g., Swarthmore, Macalester. --------------------------------------- With respect to the preps offering scollies, my nephew years ago had a 'likely' letter from one of the top row of schools in the BTI schools-visited tweet, and the head coach at one of the Phillips schools wanted him to do a PG year to get stronger and better. As I understood the offer, he wouldn't need to pay to become stronger and better, and with a likely letter in hand, the additional year was not going to improve his academic bona fides.

Parker Jones received an offer from Davidson, based on a post this evening on the BTI twitter account.
Hope that Mike R can convince him of staying in Worcester for college.

My hope would be that despite how good Matt M might be at this point in his career, he isn't his dad who I thought was an outstanding coach and recruiter

I don't believe HC offered him but Davidson also signed BC High and Middlesex Magic guard Mike Loughnane in the Spring.
