I went in there when it first opened. Was jammed. Bought a couple of beers that cost just over $10. Didn't realize I got about $25 dollars in change. Knew right there they were doomed.... Supposedly, they were beer people, not restaurant people. They were brewing different things in equal measure, but the average Joe has favorites. Lighter ales were always running out. There were times I was in there that all they had were porter and stout. Not everyone goes for that. They also went WAY over budget renovating the building. Unanticipated structural issues put them way behind the eight ball on time and money From what I recall, the 1st, 3rd and 4th floors always seemed to have a lot of people and the 2nd floor restaurant completely empty. Unless i'm misremembering.

I think one of the keys to minor league ballpark success is having reasonable prices for beer, soft drinks, and food-the prices charged at MLB parks are ludicrous. If a did can take a couple of kids to the game and get soft drinks and a hot dog for them and a brat and a couple of beers for himself without taking out a home equity loan he'll likely return

Hope the inside (from what I've seen it does) beats the exterior, at least from that photo.
I was excited that the team moved, for the record. Plus, the project as a whole is not near completion, so the jury's still out on the totality of the esthetics.

Will Coney Island hot dogs be sold at the concession stands ? As long as the guy puts them up his uncovered hairy arm, you can get the same taste!

When you factor in the cost, the look is really underwhelming. Original renderings showed plenty of brickwork on the outside and I believe inside as well. I have driven by the park multiple times and watched today's festivities and I don't think there is a brick to be found in the place. Plenty of blue, corrugated sheet metal or steel. All in all, I find the outside of the park very unappealing and the CSX rail line just beyond the outfield wall further detracts from the ambience. The grass does look nice. I really hope the rest of the development surrounding the ballpark looks better than the park itself.

The brick was never official. That was what was drawn but they never agreed on it. I thought the stadium looked great on NESN.
Nice win to start the season. The ball was flying out of there!
Bob Cousy gave a short speech. Got to get him to HC one more time!

There is a brand-new ballpark on an old industrial wasteland site in the middle of the second largest city in New England. Worcester got more marketing today with one game than they've gotten in decades. A derelict and dumpy area is getting a complete makeover.
Ballparks on old industrial sites cost $$$$$$.
Enjoy it. It's a nice ballpark in a great urban setting.

The inside of the park looks great. The exterior is still a work in progress. You are the kind of person that if you won the lottery you’d complain that you have to pay taxes.

The photos of the inside of the place DO look great, like my earlier impressions. And with all the new housing they've built downtown there are a ton of people who will be able to walk to games. Which meets the goal of one of the favorite phrases of urban planners, "the eighteen hour city."

What type of housing has been added downtown? By that I mean is it high-end apartment buildings, low-end townhouses, etc?

No I didn’t and no I haven’t been inside but I will go with your opinion the inside looks great. I don’t like the look of the outside and it appears to be a finished product. All in allI am happy to have the Worcester Red Sox in town and look forward to future development around the ballpark. I think it is a huge plus for the city. I still don’t like the facade and probably never will.

Random note - Basketball Coach Carmody and his wife lived in the renovated Voke right in Lincoln Sq. I have never seen them, but based on the Carmodys living there, I'm guessing that was high-end

Construction will be starting on a 13 story mixed use building on Green Street right behind the ballpark. On the site of the old Sir Morgan’s Cove. Demolition of the old building has started already.

Will the Table Talk Pie building be demolished and new buildings constructed or will the present building be rehabbed to new apartments?
