For the record--as it seems that some folks may be misinterpreting my posts--I'm just pointing out that Austin Butler, who had a wonderful basketball and academic career at Holy Cross, is a pretty good all-around athlete. I'm just trying to have some light-hearted fun. I do not expect Austin to play additional sports at Charlotte, but you never know. "hasn't picked up a baseball competitively" Mr Foley, you're off base there for sure on that one. Some people may not know that AB set his high school's record for the javelin throw, quarterbacked the HS football team, and threw a no-hitter in American Legion baseball.

That is quite an assumption on your part. You seem to take your assumptions as if they were fact. Actually, you appear to have no evidence for your comment other than your anti-HC bias. Just for the record, I don't know anyone who thinks that Charlotte baseball is a joke. I also don't know anyone who rates the state of a baseball team by the quality of its stadium as you seem to. As college fields go, Fitton is certainly better than average. OK, your statements do show you think that if Austin made the team then the team would be a joke. Sad, but not unexpected. Charlotte ONLY went 40-21 and 24-8 last year in a decent baseball conference to get an AT LARGE berth. ...impressive and yet you seem to feel that having an HC grad would make them a joke. Do I care about Charlotte's record...not at all. You apparently do, so please go and post there and avoid CROSSPORTS until you have something (anything) positive to say about HC. Too tough as ask?

Please let’s not have anyone tell Mr Foley that Peter Oliver plays the violin or he might blow a gasket responding

There but for lack of grace went I. I didn't have the skill to do any of those things, but if I did I would have loved to play a fall sport, a winter sport, a spring sport and then Legion Baseball, a summer sport. If Austin made a Legion team after not playing baseball in high school, that indicates he wouldn't be a joke of a candidate to walk onto the Charlotte baseball team. And if you are six-five after five years of strength training, that ball is going for a ride if he connects.

. Some people may not know that AB set his high school's record for the javelin throw, quarterbacked the HS football team, and threw a no-hitter in American Legion baseball. I think in general these multi sport kids do better at the next level than the kids who focus on one sport all their lives

In this age of specialization there are fewer and fewer multi sport athletes.

That is true, but sad. IMHO the multi-sport athlete developed in an overall way that preserved future choices for him/her.

Multi- sport---I hadn't known that Kyrell Luc was on the cross-country team in prep school. Those guys (e.g. AVB) seem to have the ability to run all game long on the basketball court

As a former cross country runner (if you can call what I did "running") and coach (did a much better job there) I admire all who were willing to put in the miles!

Small school division but still a tremendous accomplishment.

we desperately miss austin's leadership, not to mention his tenacity, scoring, and rebounding ability.
i'm glad he's enjoying a great season at charlotte as he deserves the success.

Hopefully those who didn’t appreciate Austin last year do now as they see what we look like without him and what he looks like without us playing against better comp.

Faw is another loss - given how poorly we are playing I don’t understand why Lewis doesn’t get minutes. Coaches might think he isn’t ready, but the staff has no record of developing players, so I would throw him on the floor and give him some OJT. The only things I can think is They have no plans for Lewis, Dorsey, or Louth They plan to have them red shirt using an injury for Dorsey to get him there
So the rebuild didn’t start day 1, it didn’t start last year, but we are beginning that journey today and if that is the case the program might not recover with this staff so- Tear off the band aid, bring in a winning coach upgrade the OOC schedule for 23-24 to attract talent- we are so bad people wouldn’t fear a loss in a 3 games series-they get 2 we get 1 home game give the staff big incentives to complete the basketball turn around by the end of 24 fill the stands with students, and most importantly the Worcester community-if we win they will return
We can get this done, but we must act before more damage kills the program

Might even be 3 for 3, depending on how high a level they are. Doesn't matter.

Lewis should at least get in as a three point specialist for a few minutes each half.

Agree. What little I saw at the open practice was that he had a very nice outside shot - better than anyone else on the team that I can think of - and could run the floor. No, he's not built to be a banger inside but, as we say, "you can't teach height" and he's already been through the elongator. Come on, Brett, give the kid a chance! Are you afraid you'll lose a game if he gets in? That train has already left the station.
