Red Sox up 3-1 in the top of the sixth, but Yankees have hit a Homer and a single and we have a pitching change. Eovaldi was lights out and lost it suddenly. Surprised at the number of Yankee fans cheering. They were probably able to get tickets on the secondary market. Last night it seemed there were more Raider fans in LA than Charger fans. Tickets were widely available this weekend on the RedSox site

Who wants to remember 43 years ago? That is being lugubrious on steroids. Sox have won many series since then; no reason to look backwards. Maybe, but there was just a Rico Petrocelli reference so I'm in my glory.š

Longsuffering mentioned "Jambalaya" last week. The same guy who came up with that phrase 35 years ago came up with another one: "Yankee Elmination Pahty"!

One of the most unlikable Yankee teams in some time.

They are all always unlikable when they put on those pinstripes

I agree this Yankee team is unlikeable and I am glad the season is over. I say that as a long time Yankee fan who truly liked many Yankee teams.

The Yankees have $133M for next year committed to 7 guys with contracts >$10M. Every one of them has health and durability questions. Have to assume the Yankees will try to move some of them if someone will take on at least part of the remaining contract. Wonāt be easy.
Cole - Have to hope he gets whatever is ailing him fixed and can be an ace. Lots of miles on the arm. Stanton: Have to hope he stays healthy and can mash the way he did in the latter part of this season. Could be the guy with least injury concern at the moment which is scary. Chapman - Donāt like him personally and heās been mediocre to bad in the second half of the season. Donāt feel great about him but heās been dominant in the past so maybe he figures it out. Lemahieu - One of the biggest reasons for team offensive underperformance this year. Hope he gets his body right and goes back to what he was before the big contract. Britton - way too much money and lots of miles on his arm. Severino - could turn out to be the bargain of the bunch if he can stay healthy Hicks - good player who canāt stay on the field Odor also will make $12M for next season but the Rangers are paying him so not counting him here.

Surprised at the number of Yankee fans cheering. They were probably able to get tickets on the secondary market. Last night it seemed there were more Raider fans in LA than Charger fans. Not sure Evoldi lost it. Judge's single was hit so poorly that the infielder couldn't throw it out. When you get a base hit on a ball that doesn't leave the infield, I don't call that a failure on the pitcher - just the was the ball goes sometimes

According to poster NAD, there was a guy on the 1991 Fordham basketball team that has the same middle name as the Yankee shortstop in question

This is hilarious, Stanton's first inning "homer" as called by John Sterling.
Now, I'll add one disclaimer: are Sterling and Waldman still calling road games from some studio?
And this one's even bettah!

And this one's even bettah! I can't laugh at the first one. Now, I get up very very early and had no intention of watching the whole game, but I decided to take a peek. I flipped it on just as Stanton took his swing. I immediately thought it was hitting the Pike and shut it off.
Get up this morning and look at my phone. Red Sox win, no Yankee runs in the first. I then went another hour or so thinking I had tuned in last night to some highlight from the previous Yankee sweep. Finally, I caught wind of a Sterling mixup, and figured it out. Yikes

Sterling was at Fenway last night he should have retired or been replaced 10 years ago. There is no way Eovaldi lost it, he made a bad pitch to Rizzo and Judge got an infield hit on a softly hit ball. Cora was lucky he didn't get burned, thank you Phil Nevin, don't know how he thought Brasier was a better matchup for Stanton. I know analytics say a pitcher shouldn't face a lineup for the third time but by taking out Eovaldi Cora forced a rag tag bullpen to get 11 outs. Luckily it worked out this time but the way starting pitchers are used nowadays is maddening.

Probably outdated thinking on my part, but I think it's kind of sad that the baseball playoffs won't be broadcast. Friday night Fox would rather show wrestling than the ALDS, relegating the play-offs to FS1
At least in greater Atlanta, where I assume TBS is still actually a broadcast station, there can be a broadcast, Even the ALCS is stuck down on FS1 for most of the series.
I never thought I'd see the day when the baseball playoffs weren't worth broadcasting. Tough, but understandable, that Thursday's playoff game is being bumped for Thursday Night Football. After all, football is king, even a regular season game. But baseball has sunk pretty low if Friday Night Smackdown is more profitable to show on TV

Sterling has one link to a famous Boston game.
He was the Atlanta Hawks broadcaster the night Larry Bird scored 60 points. There's a bunch of Youtube videos that include his call.

Two words Red Sox fans do not want to see. RANDY AROZARENA His straight steal of home brought me back to 1955, ah yes, the best October ever, when Jackie stole home off Whitey Ford.( and Yogi went ballistic at the safe call ) Jackie of course did not have the clear benefit of a 25+ foot lead that Randy had due to the silly shift. The steal of home is by far the most exciting play in baseball

I've now gone from sad about the lack broadcasts for the play-offs to annoyed. I will not be watching the Sox tomorrow. Only on MLB network tomorrow and I don't have it
For NFL network or even popular ESPN, the local markets broadcast the game. Not so for baseball. If you don't have a sports package, local fans will not be watching the game. Post season is the time you bring in casual fans. Casual fans don't have MLB network
