HC is apparently seeking permission to bring all 90 players to Bucknell next weekend. Not sure who needs to give permission, whether it’s the PL or HC. As I see it, the whole team should be permitted to attend a league championship game, especially when the game should be played at HC. If HC is unwilling to authorize it, that’s pretty weak.
I assume the PL gets $ for the TV rights to this game. I wonder how much and whether the teams actually playing get any portion to defray expenses?

Heard from a good source that the team will head to Bucknell on Thursday. Give the team some time to work out and rest for a couple of days before Saturday afternoon. One positive to take away is we have gotten some players back who’ve been out with injuries. Any word on fans? Still don’t think they’re allowing fans from HC. Not really sure. It be nice if at least parents were allowed.

I assume the PL gets $ for the TV rights to this game. I wonder how much and whether the teams actually playing get any portion to defray expenses? That's an interesting question about TV rights payments from CBS Sports Network to the PL. From what I can see, CBS Sports Network is in a weak last place among sports networks for relevancy and availability on cable systems within my circle of people. Yet CBS is one of the iconic main stream media names with great sports properties on their main broadcast network. Holy Cross benefits by participation in the league championship game and hopefully the NCAA playoffs by having success and competence associated with the college. Hard to measure that but also hard to measure whether HC's long slump of overall losing records has had an effect on applicants and perception of the school either.

Just want to say a big "Thank You" to hc2020 and football44 for your posts and keeping us informed rather than chewing off what fingers nails we have left!!! Unfortunately the powers to be at HC, Bucknell and the Suits in Center Valley have their heads in the sand and could care less about our collective interests in Athletics!!! Hope to hear the logical reasons for what has and is transpiring this week, but don't hold your breath that it will happen.... Really hope this game happens and we take out the Bison!!!

My pleasure HCFC45. We all have love for HC. I think the boys will be extremely motivated to put a spanking on the Bison on Saturday.

Sacred Heart just won 34-27 over Duquesne in OT to capture the NEC title. If we take care of business, we might be playing Sacred Heart in the first round of the FCS playoffs.

ALL I just left a message to Miss Jennifer Heppell Commissioner of the Patriot League letting her know my thoughts as a Holy Cross Alumni that How unfair it was for the PLnto allow Bucknell to host a Championship game and prevent Holy Cross players families from attending the game. I explained that we understand the COVID situation but our fans would sit on the opposite side with mask. Go on the Patriot League website and either leave her a message or flood her email. I just saw a message from one parent already showing their frustration with not being allowed to go to the game. BS.

She is the only PL executive who doesn’t post her email. So weak. Here is the second-in-command at the PL, the Senior Associate Commissioner for External Relations EMAIL rwanninger@patriotleague.com PHONE 610-289-1956

I watched the Fordham-Bucknell game yesterday. When the camera panned the stands, directly behind the Bucknell bench, at the 2:14 mark remaining in the 2nd quarter, Doug Birdsong mentioned that those in attendance, family, friends, students and faculty and it could have not been more than 150, have been tested as part of a weekly protocol to allow admissions to the game.
The phenomenon I do not understand, is why people seem to cluster in a section of the stadium. Most of the people seemed to be seating in an area of the stadium directly behind the Bucknell bench between the two 40 yard lines, when there were large sections that were completely unoccupied. I have seen the same phenomenon in other social settings, (state parks and beaches) in the past year. Seems like a great topic for Sociologist and Social Psychologists to study of what drives the cluster or colony perimeter in a venue when there is space to not congregate in close proximity. Particularly during a pandemic.

Why is Bucknell hosting again? Shouldn't the team with a better record, and better results against common opponents, host?

If the NCAA hockey championship indoors in Pennsylvania just had 25% capacity then a football game outdoors can at least have that! I agree "We Will not be silent!"

Getting back to who should host, I believe it is because of the the crazy tie breaking system of the PL, not COVID restrictions.
DETERMINING A CHAMPIONSHIP HOST
A. Head-to-head result, if applicable;
B. Best overall winning percentage [minimum of three games played, 4-0 better
than 3-0; if one team is 2-C and the other is 1-1, proceed to next step];
MINIMUM 3 GAMES PLAYED. 2-1 beats 2-0 by default. We should not be pissed at Bucknell, except they were strategically smart by bypassing us on 4/3 and playing Lehigh. They knew they won the south, and were hosting win or lose last Saturday once Colgate cancelled.
Colgate screwed us. Not enough healthy players? Come on...quiters!

Why should Bucknell have the choice of whom they play ? Shouldn’t that be the league decision ?
