Yep. Can't find any evidence they ever played at The Trop, either. Raymond James Stadium wqs actually built before the Rays came to town. Believe it or not, the Lightning played at the Trop at one point if Im not mistaken. Prior to Raymond James, which opened in 1997 IIRC, the Bucs played in a decaying bowl-shaped stadium that people referred to as "The Sombrero". In the build up to Sunday's game, I read a nickname locals had for Tampa Bay pre-Brady that I had never heard, "The Suckaneers."

Or, if you prefer, two out of the three (the original YS, like Fitton, was pretty much torn down to a skeleton then rebuilt; Derek Jeter and Babe Ruth shared the same diamond, but little else).

What a different world looking at that Pitt Stadium pic...lost to Carnegie Tech 7-6, our only loss that year. Researching it now, the Tartans ended our 13 game winning streak. They also ended Pitt's 22 game winning streak later that year. They ended up losing to eventual national champs TCU (with Heisman winner Davey O'Brien) in the Sugar Bowl.
Our next game after losing to Carnegie Tech? A 29-6 win ovah Georgia.....at Fitton.

You are right we did on October 12, 1957 HOLY CROSS BEATS MARQUETTE, 26-7; Greene Scores and Passes to 3 Others as Warriors Drop 14th in Row "After a winless season in 1956, most of the home games (7 of 9) in 1957 and 1958 were moved from Marquette Stadium to the larger County Stadium,[8] and attendance fell.[9][10][11] The 1957 game against Penn State at County Stadium drew fewer than 4,800 to the final home game on November 9, as the losing streak reached 18 games.[11][12" Gee we have a poor team and a small stadium that we're not filling....let's move to a bigger one! Guess logic was not a strong suit at this fine Jesuit institution.

Living in Atlanta for a half dozen years I was able to derive some great enjoyment about telling rabid Bulldog fans that HC was undefeated versus Georgia. The inevitable response of "yeah, because we've never played" set me up for the coup de grace,

Happy to see St. John's stepped-up its game and got in the Catholic Conference. In both Springfield/Holyoke and Worcester, two Catholic High Schools run by the Diocese have been folded into one for each metro area. Nice to see St. John's remaining strong and vital.

Benches both on one side, most likely to not block the view of the action for the spectators in the seats close to ground level.
Fenway was like that when the Pats played there. The teams were on the left field wall side of the gridiron; on that side the temporary stands started up higher than on the diamond side.

Ouch. That doesn't help us in the FCS rankings. Thankfully for the Eli, they "throw out the record books" for The Game.

Getting back to the original point of this thread, the actual game at Polar Park, I know it's almost 2 weeks away but since I have tickets to the game, would appreciate the locals giving some insight on where the best place to park might be since I believe it does not have its own parking lot or garage.
I don't want to say that money's no object but would rather pay a little more for a closer location to the park than a cheaper place a mile away.
Thanks (maps/addresses would help!).

I'll be looking for a street parking space on Water, Harding or Green Streets (leave 290 at Kelly Square Exit). Arriving a bit early will help. There's a small municipal lot at corner of Water and Harrison Streets. Good luck!

Ouch. That doesn't help us in the FCS rankings. Thankfully for the Eli, they "throw out the record books" for The Game. My wife and I have a place in NH and I somehow convinced her to go to the Dartmouth-Yale game. A few observations: 1. Memorial Field holds about 11,000 and is about 100 years old. There's a nice vibe. 10,000 were in attendance Sat. and, according to the PA announcer, there were the most students in attendance since 2013. It was easy to park, easy to get a ticket. Dartmouth says they expect everyone who attends to be vaccinated, but it was the honor system. There weren't enough concession stands. The Dartmouth campus as a whole blends seamlessly into the Town of Hanover. The crowd was pretty laid back. The game was entertaining. 2. The baseball field abuts the football stadium and has few stands; nothing special. 3. I didn't get to see all their facilities, but I read about some and the basketball arena is smaller than the HC's. Dartmouth seems to have well-maintained facilities for all the many sports they play but some are dated and small. 4. Overall, in my limited view it seemed to me that HC has superior athletic facilities. And though I really like Hanover and the Dartmouth campus and how they blend together so well, I like HC's campus better.

www.engelberth.com/portfolio/dartmouth-college-memorial-field-west-stands-renovation/The current version of Memorial Field sits on the same site, but is quite different. In addition to the home renovation, the visitors' side was scaled down considerably. The gym until the 80s was tiny and ancient. Probably even smaller than Harvard's infamous Indoor Athletic Building, which was pretty small. Leede Arena replaced it in the late 80s, and is pretty nice, but only seats 2,100. We saw a basketball game in the hockey rink when Ronnie Perry was still playing. They bought a floor, not sure how long it was used for.

Compass Tavern on Harding Street. If you have a drink there you park for free. They will also drive you to the park in a golf cart.
