I've said this before and I'll say it again. HC of the PL playing at the DCU draws 3000 at most. HC of the Big East draws double that at minimum, regardless of the opponent.

My son and I sat in the third row of the Worcester Wall section at about the 30 yard line and while the distance to the field was not ideal, the elevation was just right for a near perfect sight line. We were seeing the entire field and the plays developing right in front of us; much better than watching a game on TV. The entire experience was great! I don't know if I could take all the buzz and excitement for every home game - the volume of the PA speakers from where we sat was particularly annoying, but agree with most here that an annual Polar Park game would be most excellent. My son took a terrific photo of Oliver's first TD that for the life of me I can't figure out how to put here.

You can say it as many times as you want but rfi's stats prove that your first sentence is incorrect (18/23 games at DCU > 3000).

Would HC fans be willing to pay at least twice the amount of the current ticket price for Big East Basketball? How would the increase price affect the repeat customer? Currently the ticket prices for HC basketball are affordable for a family to attend multiple times during the season.

Holy Cross' policy was, and I presume still is, that when the infection rate becomes very low, masks no longer need be worn indoors by fully vaccinated students. There are a few exceptions, e.g., masks must be worn at testing stations, health services, and one or two others. On Sept 21, HC told students that masks would continue to be worn indoors There was a spike in student infections in September, and the positivity rate in Worcester County was high. The HC rate was reduced to a very low level by early October, but then Fall Break occurred. If there are no positive cases in the first week of November and the positive rate in Worcester County falls, then perhaps the going maskless indoors policy will be put into effect. If it is, going masked indoors will likely be re-instituted post-Thanksgiving. HC does not require social distancing indoors. Bishop McManus catholicfreepress.org/news/bishop-discusses-covid-19-vaccine-worcester-diocese-catholic "Fall break". Didn't that used to be called Thanksgiving? Why have two fall breaks during the pandemic?

School is so hard these days that, six weeks after the start of the semester, the students need 10 days off. No Saturday classes, no Friday PM classes, preferably no Friday classes at all, and no Monday classes. A three-day school week, and a four-day weekend.

Almost all those "averages" would be sellouts at the Hart but creating echoes in the DCU.
But . . . . . we digress . . . . . again . . . . from either football . . . . . . . or Polar Park.

What can we do to get a crowd like that to the DCU for a hoop game? Nothing really. The Worcester County fans left the property years ago and aren’t coming back for a once in a blue moon game against BC, UMass, Providence or anyone else for that matter. Gonzaga might draw 5,000. Maybe.

Gonzaga-HC obviously sells out.
The railers had 10,500 there Saturday night.
Post-Covid (people like being out and at sporting events). I’d like to capitalize on our polar park success with the Worcester crowd.

I've said this before, since the Telegram no longer posts regular stories about the football and basketball teams days before games, the "average" basketball fan doesn't know there are games to go to..How many stories were ther in the Telegram leading up to the game week? Back in the day, i.e. the 70's, there would be stories on the upcoming games in the days leading up to a game...No more, one is lucky to see the game listed in the "Games Today" agate type on the sports page..

Absent a run in the tournament or landing the next Curry, hard to envision much local interest. Real shame but that’s where we are.

Like this? Holy Cross vs NYU Worcester Aud at 8:30 lol. I agree not enough promotion of when games are by the local sports media. WTAG sports only tells you when the pro games are. Attachments:

On the other hand, who reads the Telegram? The media landscape has changed drastically, and there really no longer is a common community news source.

A little late to the party here, but wanted to give my perspective of the Polar Park experience. Overall, I liked the pre-game atmosphere. Good to see a mix of Worcesterites and Holy Cross alums intermingling before and after the game. As for the game itself I did expect a more enthusiastic crowd that was in to the game. I found myself talking to a lot of people in the concourse I haven’t seen since the pandemic started and quite frankly couldn’t believe were at a Holy Cross football game. Heard the same from a lot of people, first game in 5, 10, 15 years. Let’s hope it leads to more interest at Fitton Field. Suggestion for next game, have the marching band roam the district before the game and lead a crowd in to the stadium. I will give an A for Holy Cross and the city for putting this event on. Hopefully more to come with hockey and baseball.

If memory serves your Railers also had an opening night crowd of 10K down the street at the DCU on the same night. Good old Worcester IS in the entertainment business.
