Announcers were among the worst ever They rarely named any defender. Dobbs’ constant plays forced during them to mention him They mentioned very few Yale defenders as well. They loved listening to themselves, only occasionally referring to what was happening on the field. After the game while Ches was addressing our team they spoke only of Yale. The best thing about missing the game live, and watching the replay, was being able to fast-forward 20 seconds after every whistle, and thus avoid the bluster from the broadcast booth. (The first ten minutes were unbearable, thus introducing me to the >> button.) Ignutz, you've made me quite happy I decided to never "un mute" my computer.

Princeton pummels hapless Lehigh 32-0…no scoring in the 4th QTR (often a sign the dogs have been called off). I think Lehigh has been outscored 110-6 in their three games this year. Ouch! But according to someone that's apparently not with us any more, Gilmore is a better coach.

Which was the more impressive win for HC? UConn? Yale? Yale. Sluka was the best player on the field. The Yale announcers were raving about him. Dobbs had a monster game. It was a great win against a Yale team which no doubt will be at or near the top of the IL. Next up is Monmouth. Dobbs and Defense were excellent and special teams brought home the W! Very impressive. Sluka was not the best player today and his inability to keep drives alive continue to be a struggle 2-13 on 3rd down. Siderman was most efficient 4-5 passing and 68 yards nice showing and got them in a position to score a huge TD. Defense clinched win today and offense needs to step it up next week. They will need to score 30 plus points to keep pace with Monmouth the hood news is we have the resources to get it done!

I think Yale's defense might something to do with the 2 for 13 on third down.
Yale is a very, very good team. They will more than likely win the Ivy.
This is a good win on the road.
Stop complaining.

Good for you! One of my sisters and my brother-in-law (HC '60) were also there live and in person to watch the win and represent the family.

Were you white #72, purple shirt or black shirt? HC 72 jersey signed by the whole 2018 team. I think I won it as a season ticket holder prize. We were a little more happy then the kid in the black shirt. Easy to watch the game at midfield and run over for the field goals.

This is a great win for Holy Cross! I really believe Yale is one of the most talented teams in FCS; still convinced they'll go 7-3/8-2/9-1. Holy Cross was able to regroup after a tough loss, sign of a very good coach, and catch a team perhaps at just the right time. It does not get any easier next week against Monmouth. The Hawks have excellent team speed! An at-large bid is still on the table should the Crusaders stumble once in the PL.... BTW, Lehigh is an absolute disaster; currently on a 10 game losing streak, 0 touchdowns through 3 games. Their game against Colgate next week will be quite depressing given how many HUGE games the two have played over the last 25 years. The good news is that the coach who succeeds Tom Gilmore is always really good so you’ll be fine in another year or two.

Re: field position, I took a look at each team's 13 possessions.
Yale Starting Field Position
Worst= Own 5 yard line Best= Own 42 yard line Median= Own 20 yard line Average= Own 22 yard line
Holy Cross Starting Field Position
Worst= Own 12 yard line Best= Yale 38 yard line Median= Own 33 yard line Average= Own 34 yard line
I'll take that every game!

They will need to score 30 plus points to keep pace with Monmouth the hood news is we have the resources to get it done! Sluka? Siderman? (Lentz/Cunnion?)A fun debate.Let the numbers speak. Sluka. Passing 7/13 for 80 yds, 10+yds per completion; Rushing - 85 yards.Total 165 yards offense. 2 rushing tds. Siderman 4/5 passing for 68 yards, 16+ yds per completion overall. 63 yards on One completion. 5 yards on the other 3 completions,1+yds per completion for the majority of passes. Rushing - 3 yds. 0 tds. Intangibles. The dual threat Sluka gives opponents more to deal with. Also, the team seemed to respond better with Sluka running the show. They moved better with Sluka at the helm. I admit to a bias. In the college game I prefer dual threat run/pass qbs such as Sluka. Siderman may very well win the qb job but so far he is a one dimensional qb who has shown few skills other than passing. Nonetheless, he may have the potential to be a great qb. I hope he succeeds. But, on those biting, nasty New England Saturday afternoons I believe a balanced run oriented offense will more than likely be more successful moving the ball in the college game than a pro style drop back passing offense. Obviously it all depends on the talent. A run oriented balanced attack seems to play more to HC's talent at this time. They are a very good team but still have a lot to prove. Peace.

I agree with all you say and I share a bias going back to Jack Lentz. However, if we were patient in waiting for sluka to develop his passing game (and he has), can't we be patient as Siderman develops (perhaps his running) as well? Just a thought. BEAT MONMOUTH!

Great win for Holy Cross against a very good Yale team.....our team is still growing and learning, but they are well coached.
I would like to see both QBs - Sluka & Siderman in the backfield at the same time. What a dilemna would be presented to defenses.....in the shotgun, the center could snap to either QB. We have talent and depth with this young team.
Monmouth game will be a dog fight, but do not count out Dobbs & Company......

We ran for 127 yards last week against Merrimack. —— Stand by previous post 100%. Beating Yale is nice, but needing to thread the needle against a team that hadn’t played a football game in 2 years because we can’t put together a gameplan that generates a completion until the end of the 2nd quarter is not going to raise the ceiling of where this program has been the last two years — capable of winning a bad pL, then getting steamrolled as a bottom seed in the first round of the playoffs. Kudos to the defense for buckling down after the 74 yard Yale TD in the 2nd quarter. Only 1 drive longer than 5 plays in Yale’s next 7 possessions and only 3 points. Bailed out the offense. Get the dump out of your pants. On the road and spotted the Ivy League favorite 14 points and found a way to win the game. You’re reminding me of the ultra-defensive Bill Carmody superfans, people who made up their mind about how great a coach was before even watching a game and thought there was absolutely no place for any criticism. I want HC to win and I want Chesney to be the guy — especially if we keep this new trend of hiring empty suit ADs who have no clue what they’re doing, because our chance of hitting on the next guy will be slim. But I just don’t see how you can think we are on the right track with this offense. We are getting to a point where teams are going to be able to start negatively recruiting against it (if they haven’t already started). If you were a good high school QB, would you want to play in this offensive system?

Colgate, Bucknell and Lehigh have collectively been out-scored 318-25. The PL is 3-18 so far this season. Since CAA,NEC, Ivy and FBS are generally stronger - and those are the teams we face OOC - it should not be a surprise PL gets very severely smacked around (sometimes unmercifully) during OOC play. (Of course there are exceptions to this and all generalities in life.) It does seem worse than ever.

At some point, maybe now, the PL brass has to be embarrassed by this. If they aren’t and refuse to even take small steps like going to 63 scholarships in an attempt to remedy the situation, maybe HC should look for a better conference.
