^ You shouldn't be surprised that UA cares more about the 19th ranked team in the country that plays in the ACC than Adidas does about a bottom feeder in the the invisible pL. Boston College isn't a UA program anymore. They are New Balance in everything besides football.

Just so everyone is clear there is very little money in baseball, even at some of the power 5 schools. In baseball a school at a maximum can only provide up to 11.7 scholarships across 35 players, and only 27 players can be on scholarship. The minimum scholarship they can give a player is 25%, but I am talking athletic scholarship. A lot of schools can get very creative with other types of aid that are not included in this 11.7. A very interesting documentary was released a while back that explains how money is managed in baseball, called Uneven: A lot of power mid majors are not what they call fully funded, so they may only have 6.5 scholarships or even lower. There is really not much money at all in baseball and it is extremely rare for anyone to get a full athletic scholarship, they might get everything fully covered but it will be with other aid avenues. HC with the facilities can attract very good players, scholarships might help a little, but it won't be a game changer. The coaches will be the game changer and will be the ones that can retain the best talent so they don't jump to other programs. The 3rd basemen that went to BC, may be getting some money, but probably less than you think. What he is getting is way better coaching, better facilities, better training, better equipment, rumor is New Balance just pours shoes/clothes/uniforms into that program week in week out, much better academic support, and they play in a much tougher league. But keep in mind a number of our players could make that same jump no problem when you just look at the baseball skill set. BC has a couple of top pitchers this year that were D3 guys. Talent is not going to be a problem at HC with the right coaching staff. Good coaches, can attract good talent and identify it. Let's see what happens next week after the season wraps. Travel summer ball is when all the recruiting happens so hopefully we make a quick transition to a new staff. UConn's cleanup hitter was the number 4 hitters at Eastern Conn last year....The top of D-3 is pretty good with decent bats and arms for the power leagues. There was a kid about 15 years ago that went from the top of the St. Joseph's (ME) rotation to the weekend rotation at LSU.

Yes the Harrington facility/field and the frates center are excellent. BC doesn’t even sell tickets, just walk in and watch some of the best baseball in the country. It is worth a visit if you like baseball. Our team doesn’t even get a back pack with a HC logo, nothing, we travel like a rag bag group of juco players. Has this issue been raised to Kit or Nick Smith? There is absolutely no reason that the team was under equipped with all of the necessary gear for a D1 team to be successful.

Shows some pride. Happy, especially for the seniors.

When you least expect it … We swept Lafayette today 7-3 and 13-4 Not surprised. The fact that we aren’t very good at baseball this year doesn’t mean we can’t beat the 14-33 Lafayette team now and again. They aren’t very good either. Besides, we defeated them at their place two weeks ago.

Actually they took 2 of 3 games from us in Worcester two weeks ago and they have 10 league wins which is good enough for the four seed in next week’s semifinal - agree that they’re not a good team but we’ve been worse in the league this season

Reverted back to the norm today - lost 2 to Lehigh, 5-4 in extras and 3-1. Whatever you think about our team a 51 game College season is a grind by any standard - final record 16-35

10-20 through 30 games (3-5 in PL) and looking like they could at least be competitive in the league.
Went 6-15 to close the season (3-14 in PL).
This should be the end of HCEK.

Harrington's a BC guy; do any of the Directors have a HC connection? yawkeyfoundation.org/who-we-are/list-of-trustees/They also contributed a lot (enough to have TAY's name on it) to BC's football facility (weight room, offices, etc; their indoor field is a different building entirely); that building sits where the Roberts Center once stood.

I believe the indoor field is on the former site of BC’s baseball field. IIRC, it was called Shea Field (Not Shea Stadium).

I know we had great football and women's bbaall seasons but men's bball and now baseball firmly in the bottom 10 pct of d.1 is black mark on the 2022-23 year With the baseball season concluded, there's no chance to move from our 282 spot (out of 305 d.1 teams) - this week's rankings: www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1/rpi

Patriot League is such a short season if you miss the playoffs.
Our program stinks. What a shame.
Might make sense to just drop baseball. Might help us save some money and compete in other sports.

I'd like to see a New England tournament for the teams that don't go to the NCAA, to be played in a couple of weeks of fine weather while the NCAA tournament is happening. That way teams like HC could have a shot at some hardware and fans could see games in comfortable conditions. Perhaps knock off a frozen four pack of games in March and substitute four games in May in the New England tournament.

The players are not on scholarship and have played a packed schedule over 2 1/2 months - they want to go home after finals and see their families before they get ready for a summer collegiate league (for many)

My proposed New England tournament reduces the same number of cold weather early season games it adds in May. Rosters would probably be smaller as it would be voluntary but it would increase available playing time for those participating.

The conference tournaments for most D-1 conferences are going on this weekend. The D2 and D3 regionals were last weekend and the Supers will be this upcoming weekend. westfieldstarfires.com/schedule/

Could be. But playing in a summer league isn’t an indication of how good a player is. Lots of summer leagues out there.
