Is Pesansky injured, or is he headed for the portal? He has been on the sidelines in recent games with the headphones, but has not taken the field. He seems to be firmly behind two sophomores (who may or may not have Covid years coming) and there is one recruited QB incoming.

Spoke with Ryan Schmidt HC ticketing guy when i ordered my tickets and he says they are looking at moving time of UNH BB game which he is personally hoping for since “I can’t be two places at once” but the two decision makers are Nelson and the UNH head coach. He thinks the determining factor is what UNH travel plans are for after the game (i.e. going back to UNH, traveling elsewhere to next game, etc.) Looks like UNH is off until the following Saturday, so their travel plans hopefully aren't an impediment.

STATS and Coaches FCS polls just released. HC #24 in both. A win Saturday all but guarantees us a TOP 25 spot in the final rankings at the end of the season. We need to overcome our tendency to play poor following weeks after we crack the Top 25 (Merrimack after UCONN) and (Harvard after Monmouth). Of course your opponent always has a say but I think which HC team shows up and for how long on Saturday will be the difference. If it’s the team we saw for 4 quarters against UCONN, Monmouth, Colgate or the final 2 1/2 quarters vs Yale and Fordham…We win by double digits! If it’s the team that showed up against Harvard or Merrimack…we lose by at least two scores. If it’s somewhere in the middle, look for a one score game either way…

I agree midwestsader05. The offensive strategy after those wins did not seem to adjust to the opponent we played in those two losses. SHU defense has not given up many points this year so it will be interesting to see how Roper attacks it this week.
They can run the ball Malik Grant had 1328 yards for 6 yards a rush. We have not seen too many solid RB's this year this will be a test. They average 20 pass attempts a game (59.7% completion), not many so hold the run game in check it should not be close. Ironically the kicking game for SHU has been solid 13-16 FG attempts. It will take all 3 phases this weekend to put the W on the board but I feel this will be a double digit win.

He seems to be firmly behind two sophomores (who may or may not have Covid years coming) and there is one recruited QB incoming. I have not heard that he has been hurt, so his lack of playing time is a coach’s decision. QB is one of those positions where you can sit for awhile if the starter is ahead of you on the depth chart. Unfortunately, unlike RB, DB and WR, you don’t see many QBs playing special teams.

Pesansky has appeared briefly in several games this year, and is 2 for 3 passing. I thought Pesansky would be the third QB in against Bucknell, but Wiegel appears wearing another player's number because his assigned number was given to someone else, and Pesansky is on the sidelines with the headset.

SHU's high percentage on field goals is partly due to the team's difficulty in scoring touchdowns when in the Red Zone--see the stats below. So SHU settles for a field goal attempt. Note that SHU is 7 for 7 on field goal attempts inside the 29 while Derek Ng has not attempted any field goals that short. SHU has used two kickers Inside the 29= 7 for 7 30-39= 4 for 7 40-49= 1 for 1 50+ no attempts Derek Ng Inside the 29= no attempts 30-39= 2 for 3 40-49= 4 for 7 50+= 1 for 3 Red Zones: Visits--Touchdowns--Field Goals--Didn't Score SHU=47--20--10--17/Opponents=17--9--5--3 HC= 44--38--2--4/Opponents=24--14--6--4

Hunter Helms, the HC de-commit, regularly wears the headset on the Clemson sidelines, and last year and this, i believe he is the third string QB. IMO, wearing the headset is a great education when it comes to learning the offense.

This will be a tough game, imo - thoughts: - remember the NEC is usually rated above the PL in rpi (have not seen the 2021 rankings) - SHU played at Delaware (6-0) in the spring playoffs and lost a close game, holding Del to 199 total yards - common opponents this fall favors SHU - both beat Bucknell and SHU beat Merrimack - weather will be cold and with Purdy probably out the better running game may be the difference - their 2 rb's are both averaging more than 100 yards per game rushing
We will be challenged and no way should the spread be more than 2 td's

It was the perfect opportunity and illustrated to me that Chesney is on top of all the small details and touches that make him a master team builder.

It could have something to do with “redshirting” him. He could apply for an extra year at some point and do a double major. Technically Sluka, Siderman and Pesansky are the same class eligibility wise. Just guessing.

I thought much the same thing...preserving eligibility. I just don't know if it is for eligibility for Holy Cross or to use elsewhere.

We will be challenged and no way should the spread be more than 2 td's Looks like Julius Chestnut was the #1 back. He ran for 170 yards in the opener vs Bucknell (Malik Grant got 29) and then missed 6 games. In those six games Malik Grant ran wild fo4 1,050 yards. Then Chestnut returned and Grant was back to #2 role or at least sharing with Chestnut. In the last 3 games Chestnut has run for 317 yards and Grant for 249.

Hubris comes before the fall. Beware! HC must play this game with urgency. There is no given outcome. No doubt Coach Chesney, The Great is fully aware & he will get these guys ready for the game of their lives.

I assume their field which was more than adequate in 2009. Not sure why they’d go elsewhere.

They have to be saving his eligibility. Not sure if that is for him to stay or go but I would be surprised to see all three of these guys returning next year. With all the coaching opportunities opening across country having a college ready QB will be attractive for a lot of programs.
