The season is upon us and it is time for the annual competition to predict the number of games the Crusaders will win for this season. We have 31 regular season games, then up to four in the Patriot League playoffs, and then as many as 7 in the NCAA tournament. In past competitions, posters have found it productive to project regular season and playoff records to come up with the final number. Looking forward to hearing both predictions and insights

1-6 start difficult to recover from.....12 wins Wow-that seems very, very pessimistic to me but that's why we have these little competitions: to let each of us go on record. As far as the challenging start goes, remember that Lehigh went 0-7 to start the season last year but may even have benefitted from the tough early games as they had a 13-5 record in PL regular season play.

let the predictions begin! thanks for setting this up, ky. i voted, and i guess it's the only way to vote on this subject, but absolute wins has never been the target for me. this framework kind of harkens back to the "20 WINS BABY!" era, where we had a few seasons with decent win totals (due to weak ooc scheduling) and flopped in the patriot league tournament every year. i can't imagine any crossports posters (those that remain, at least that preferred the 20 WINS, BABY! season to last year's 15 win season that featured a patriot league tournament championship, an ncaa tournament appearance, and quite a bit of media attention surrounding our miraculous post-season performance. all that said, i see us going 22-15 this year with the breakdown as follows: 6-7 ooc, 12-6 pl regular season, 2-1 patriot league tournament (losing to lehigh in the patriot league tournament championship), 2-1 in one of the third rate post-season tournaments. i would love to be wrong about the patriot league tournament championship outcome and see us dancing again, but lehigh will be tough out and looking for revenge!

16-18 wins but not uninspiring; several tough losses due to lack of depth

dado- HC70 will be at S. Car. Will you? is this a weak attempt at some kind of dig at me? if so, 1.) piss off. i'm neither retired (working 60-80 hour weeks in medicine) nor do i have connections to south carolina that hc70 does. questioning my loyalty to the holy cross basketball program and crossports in this manner is sheer stupidity. i have stayed off your back about your complaining about hc while not giving a dime's worth of support to the school, but i'll consider this my personal invitation to that party. 2.) i don't care if 70 goes to every game this season... he was completely disruptive to crossports.

dado- I assumed your "those that remain, at least" was a dig at HC70. If not, to whom were you referring? HC70 never "disrupted" me. Those posters that were disrupted by him just didn't agree with him. They were intolerant of a dissenting opinion. Had him silenced. (Once again we encounter the principle that only those that donate have the right to criticize. Can't we dispose of that bizarre notion?)

Is this the kind of logic that you taught? If so, I am glad I never took your course.
No one is donating to Crossports (it is a "free forum") and dado is talking Crossports not about how Holy Cross spends its money which has been the criticism leveled at you and never at HC70. The criticism of HC70, which I do not personally agree with, was what he said on Crossports specifically about his defense of Milan Brown and his position that some who spoke ill of MB was a "hater" (and I disagreed with him on that part).
Even those who criticized HC70 pretty much agreed he was a loyal supporter of HC athletics and donated multiple times for students to attend games or to fund a bus trip to games for the students and did and still does attend many away games. He supported Holy Cross by donations. You have stated that you do not. Some did believe HC70 was too loyal and blinded in his support of MB and thought that loyalty overrode his support of Holy Cross as an institution.
By what logic do you connect dado's criticism of HC70 with the principle that only those who donate can be critical?
BTW, Henry is doing fine and plans to go to a number of away games and, yes, including SC.

All,
HC70 was not silenced becasue of his opinion or others had him silenced. He silenced himself by his own actions. Period. End of story.
Leave him and unnecessary posts about him, however oblique, in the past. They don't add to the conversation and simply lead to tired/rehashed exchanges such as the last few.
Keep on topic.
I now return you all to your regularly scheduled topic - predicting HC's season.

We have two posters weighing in with 25+ in their posts but that is not recorded in the poll. So, don't forget to tick off your prediction in the poll as well as in the body of your posts.
