HC was on him back in 2018, pre Nelson. Maybe Kennedy knew of him.

Maybe not a diamond in the rough but perhaps a Jade in the rough?

Maybe not a diamond in the rough but perhaps a Jade in the rough? So semi-precious instead of precious??

Is this signing suppose to make us feel better about the future of Holy Cross basketball? Very exciting!

I like the fact this young man played 4 years in the tough NYC Catholic League and one year in the A Division of the NEPSAC at Deerfield.

Don't suppose GG will be giving up his number, but Jade's been wearing #10 for awhile . . .

Someone has to initiate the offense. As. Casey Stengel said when his first pick in the MLB player draft for his new Mets team was an average catcher, Hobie Landrith, why he picked a catcher,” there would be a lot of passes balls without a catcher.” Agree completely but you need people on the other end to make plays, which at this point needs to be proven. Also, it would be great if the pass first distributor is a a threat to score. I will give away the second part if he is a shut down defender as I said I hope he is a great success and the team benefits, but as of today there are a number of questions, most of which are in the hands of the head coach

So why would someone with those kind of academic stats (SAT and GPA) and supposed interest from Yale end up going to a JUCO?

Like the NYC kids a lot and think he could be a nice piece on a good RW team. Not sure he’ll be able to do enough to change the current team’s fortunes.

Well, as Ricky Nelson used to sing he's " . . . a travelin' man, made a lot of stops, all over the world." I can't tell how good he is from these highlight videos which likely show every basket he ever made but, based on his penchant for moving, think he'll stay more than one season at Holy Cross before he hits the transfer portal again? Well at least his many moves made sense. HS to prep school to cc to a D1 program for two years. Isn’t there an NCAA rule that says you have to play your 4 years within 6 years of your hs graduation. I like fact he is from the NYC Catholic League. actually the NCAA rule says you have only five years to complete your four years of play. Of course temporarily that four years has turned into a possible five years, due to the NCAA’s Covid rule. As for the 5-year time span, a player can sometimes get a waiver to allow him to play a 6th year.

So why would someone with those kind of academic stats (SAT and GPA) and supposed interest from Yale end up going to a JUCO? The usual reason is that a player either has no offers or has no offers from any school he wants to attend. That interest from Yale probably never turned into an offer.

I believe his Molloy highlights had him wearing #22

Welcome Jade!
If he can at least play some D, and not be a ball hog, can't really expect much more at this point. I'm hoping CBN holds on to the last schollie now, although I'm not betting on it.
One other disturbing byproduct from being where HC is right now: by my calculation, the combined records of Octave's, Tse's and Wibar's teams last year was 33-56. What is that they say about winning and losing being habit forming?

If nothing else, this offseason appears to be showing some very positive signs of the admissions office finally being willing to play ball a little bit now that McDermott is gone.

Apparently, Tse has more than the necessary academic qualifications to attend HC. He seems to be a high level student. One who would have been admitted by any HC's admissions office whether or not he played ball. Let's hope he can be the on court facilitator HC needs.

He went to junior college and then Houston Baptist. He might be brilliant, but his past two stops aren’t indicators of his academic capabilities.

Due to the over enrollment of the incoming freshmen class, transfers are not being admitted... except for special circumstance such as this

Jade is HC's answer to other schools being able to accept grad transfers. If he stays for two years they will be his fifth and sixth years after graduating from Bishop Molloy. In development they will be similar to Torey Thomas in his first two seasons playing in Europe.
He's only played two D-1 seasons but received coaching and physically matured during four post HS seasons.

According to an article posted earlier in the thread his SAT was 1200 coming out of prep school. Not bad, but nowhere near a shoe-in for a "regular applicant" to Holy Cross. Of course, we don't know his GPA at Salt Lake CC or Houston Baptist -- could be 4.0 for all we know.
Welcome to HC, Jade!
