I am happy that the coaching staff addressed two major needs I will be a lot happier if the additions turn out to be quality ball players who work cohesively with their teammates in such a manner that translates into a significantly better win-loss record June 5th marks the beginning of the process. That is when summer school and summer workouts for seven weeks, begins. The amount of time these student-athletes devote to the program is staggering compared to what it was back in the day. My guess is the season ended in mid-March and that was it for official workouts until October 15th.

Maybe I'm just not caught up from hiatus but haven't seen anything that would make me think there will be any improvement over the last 3 years. Did I miss anything? No, you didn't miss anything. The program has seen a significant outflow of talent since its last game (which, of course, was the culmination of a season that wasn't anywhere near "good"). That outflow of talent seems to be getting replaced by very-bottom-tier D1 talent (or lower). There's no argument to be made that the talent level in the program has improved since February. And there's no evidence that the present coaching staff can take this new group and "coach them up" into a better team.

If they do, it'll be a heck of a story. I'm rooting for this staff. That they are even still here is a tribute to the almighty dollar and HC's reluctance to part with too many of them.
Other than Bo, most of the players didn't have too many easy or better options.
In my odd brain that makes the whole bunch underdogs and easy to root for this upcoming season. It'll be a heck of a story and an inspiration if they succeed.

I think Bo could have transferred with the same degree of difficulty or non-difficulty as Martindale, which seemed easy as he went early in the process.

Looking at Houston Baptist with 2300 undergraduates and D-1 basketball makes me think there must be a decent number of smaller schools like HC with D-1 fans who stay loyal with one NCAA bid a decade and possibly one magical run to the sweet sixteen or higher in a lifetime.
Reminds me of the pre-2004 saying in New England after each season's end, "The Red Sox killed my father and now they are coming after me."🙂

Houston Baptist is in its 14th season since beginning the transition to division one. During that time, they’ve had exactly one winning season and many years with fewer than 10 wins. Their average attendance is between 600 and 700, so it appears there aren’t a lot of fans who have any opinion. Thus far their team has never come close to reaching the NCAA tournament.

They didn't get that one bid and the fans didn't stay loyal. Moving to D-1 has been repeated so often in recent years there must be a pony in the process somewhere. It might be to escape the numbing anonymity of D-2 or there are other intangible benefits, but Hartford is one of the few schools to drop down amid the many who stay.

One of Jade’s former teammates (a rising senior) was shot and killed at a party in Harlem last evening - such a dangerous world out there for so many - a real shame and loss for Houston Baptist

Darius Lee and Tse also probably played against each other in the NYC CHSAA

Watch the local NYC stations & you will see almost daily reports on these types of killings. Expect it would be similar in LA, Chi. Philly, Miami and many other cities.
