Let’s hope he’s a better distributer than he is shooter.
62% FT, 41% 2PT, 27% 3PT last season.

Jade could teach a Cultural Anthropology course when he gets here. What a journey he has made from Queens (Big City) to Deerfield Academy (Country Preppy) to Salt Lake City CC (Mormon Conservative) to Houston Baptist (Bible Belt) to Holy Cross (Catholic Preppy).
Welcome aboard.

The first player from Molloy since Kevin Hamilton. I saw him play in HS. He played with two star players, Moses Brown who went to UCLA and a 6’6” wing who went to Ga. Tech, Khalid Moore. He is very quick, distributed well, was prone to turnovers and rarely shot the ball. He may be less turnover prone if we play as slowly as we have. Guess he has two years left.

Also before he did his post-grad year at Deerfield, he played for Archbishop Molloy - at least his senior year. Not sure if he played at another HS before that.

Well, as Ricky Nelson used to sing he's " . . . a travelin' man, made a lot of stops, all over the world."
I can't tell how good he is from these highlight videos which likely show every basket he ever made but, based on his penchant for moving, think he'll stay more than one season at Holy Cross before he hits the transfer portal again?

What should be an easy yes who know nowadays. I do hope he gives a good season and many baskets. Looking over the team we are lacking scoring.

Well at least his many moves made sense. HS to prep school to cc to a D1 program for two years. Isn’t there an NCAA rule that says you have to play your 4 years within 6 years of your hs graduation. I like fact he is from the NYC Catholic League.

On KenPom his o-rating of 78.9 is among the lowest I have ever seen. I’m hoping he really blossoms as our point guard

"Lacking scoring?"
Would be interested in you or others posting what positives we think we can expect from this put-together team? While I expect most will say something along the lines of "who knows because so many new pieces to the team?," some here have the expertise from watching videos, posts elsewhere, on-line stats, etc. to perhaps hazard an educated guess.
Will our strength be defense? Rebounding? Free throw shooting? Shooting from beyond the arc?
Maybe I'm just not caught up from hiatus but haven't seen anything that would make me think there will be any improvement over the last 3 years. Did I miss anything?

Simply too many changes to venture an educated guess.
We will certainly lack size/bulk inside and outside scoring...two rather critical components.
Let's hope for the best. But I certainly am not expecting a significant improvement.
Hope I'm wrong.

VC has Tse as a red shirt freshman, yet Sports Reference has his two year stats.

Interesting but I am scratching my head on this choice. Cant understand why we waste another scholarship? ok never mind I forgot who is leading this parade or circus. iwish him and the team well but not sure if that matters

Someone has to initiate the offense. As. Casey Stengel said when his first pick in the MLB player draft for his new Mets team was an average catcher, Hobie Landrith, why he picked a catcher,” there would be a lot of passed balls without a catcher.”

VC has Tse as a red shirt freshman, yet Sports Reference has his two year stats. Both his year at SLCC and his first year at HBU were described as red shirt. I interpreted that to mean he played his first year at HBU as a Freshman and the red shirt designation was because it was his second year in college. I was confused whether he played during his year in Utah or didn't.

He didn't play (red-shirted) at Salt Lake CC. Played two years at Houston Baptist. Comments from Coach Cottrell on his commitment to HBU:
"Jade Tse comes to us as a true 'old school' pass first point guard. Jade relishes running the team and setting up his teammates to be successful. He is also a tenacious defender. While Jade will still be classified as a freshman, he has a year of post-graduate play and a redshirt year at Salt Lake Community College under his belt. Therefore, Jade comes to HBU as an experienced player with four years to wear a Husky uniform. Having grown up in New York City and playing for the famed Archbishop Molloy program, Jade is the prototypical tough, competitive and hard-nosed NYC point guard. And, his years at Deerfield Academy and SLCC continued his growth by working out with, and against, high level competition every day. Finally, Jade is a high character person and a disciplined student who is a terrific addition to our program both on and off the court."
