His coach put him in the dog house and then dissed him when he left. Not a good formula, especially after the coach recruited him twice. Once to Lincoln Memorial (D-2 and surprisingly in Tennessee not in Washington DC with a name like that) and once to Indiana State.
I bet the kid is motivated to play for a coach who wants him.

His career scoring was a good night for Wilt Chamberlain.

In all fairness, we aren't expecting a lot of scoring or rebounding from the kid. His job is to help prepare his team mates for games. Although there are exceptions (Lincoln Yeutter ) , walk ons aren't going to be getting minutes to pile up stats. I don't think 2022-23 will add up to a good Chamberlain night for Mr Capron

I remember BG discussing this at a Coaches night. He said that culturally being a walk-on is much more attractive for college age men than women. That was 15-20 years ago. I imagine it's getting closer to equal with the advancement of the women's game.

How can it be painful before the first practice?

Derek Mountain (football tight end)? Though he stayed on the football team as I recall.

Derek Mountain (football tight end)? Though he stayed on the football team as I recall. So he played in an NCAA tournament in two sports at HC and won two league titles. I think HC BB reached the NCAA tournament during RP Sr's career, which would make him another who played in an NCAA tournament in two sports at HC. Can't think of anyone else.

I thought of Damon Hart because, while I don't remember his football experience, I do remember he ended up having a regular role on the basketball team.

For those so inclined, here is an ISU game that Wilbar started in.

For those so inclined, here is an ISU game that Wilbar started in. I watched up to 16-10 ISU. The Sycamores seemed to come alive when Wilbar sat down. Still he should be more ready to contribute than the typical 6-11 kid HC could get out of high school. I was critical of coach Josh Schertz's comments about Wilbar but Schertz won 14 conference titles before arriving at ISU so he knows how to coach. Interesting that he has a five year deal at ISU for a reported $300,000 per year so Holy Cross could compete for a proven winner at a lower level like that.

Brian Hopkins- late 90s, shown as a letter winner in football and basketball.
Don't remember much about him as a basketball player but he was a pretty good wideout on teams that were, shall we say, not very good and very quarterback challenged.

I'm intrigued by Kirkwood. He's physically much more developed than your typical freshman and I believe comes to HC with the rep of being a good shooter. Hope to see him carve some minutes out in the rotation. This team could use a few 'catch and shoot' guys to properly space the floor for a coherent offense.

Massey now makes the game a virtual toss-up giving HC a 50% chance for the win but he picks the score at 21-20 in favor of Harvard. Shot clock on or off?

I don’t think Kirkwood has a regular role this year. Just too many guards in front of him for minutes.

For those so inclined, here is an ISU game that Wilbar started in. Any Idea what year the game is? Wilbar has filled out since that game, and is much more physical now..He doesn't get pushed around like he did in that game, unless, HC is so much less physical...But I don't think so.
