Would love to hear some comments from posters who were at the game. 1) What was the atmosphere like? Did the students show up in good numbers? Feedback on the sound system and video board? 2) Our RBs continue to run hard and look tough to bring down. Slade seemed quick and elusive. How did he look in person? Hard to judge on the video broadcast. 3) It looked like Yale brought more fans than I expected. I got to the game around 9:50, I waited in line for the baseball field parking to open up. It opened promptly at 10 am. I've been to all the home games, except one, since 2018. I have to say it was one of the best tailgating experiences that I ever had. First off, it was a perfect day. Not too hot, no wind. I met up with a lot of parents, fresh off the Buffalo ending. Basically, everyone was in great mood. By 10:30, tailgating was in full swing. The Parent booster club had a tent on the concrete near left field. Many parents of recent alumni were there as well. The baseball field looked packed. One of the traditions Coach Chesney started was to have the players walk down the first base foul line, near the scoreboard to the locker room. My son, who graduated this past May was there to greet them, hugs everywhere. From a non-alumni to the alumni on this board, you graduated from a special place. Another nice moment at the game, my son got to unveil the 2021 Patriot League Championship year on the end zone side with the bleachers. It was nice that they honored the 1991 undefeated team. Being in the seats it was hard to tell how many people were there, it seemed like a good crowd. I'll have to watch the replay on ESPN+. According to the announced attendance, it was the most at any game that I've been to. Yale had a decent crowd. From a distance, it looked like people were still in the baseball field once the game started. Last year when Holy Cross started selling alcohol during the game, they said they would clear the lots. Apparently, that is not happening, at least for the baseball field. They need to fix the officials mic/speaker. Could not make out what they were saying. At times the video board appeared to have some glitches. Great to see Terrell Prince back. All in all, it was a great atmosphere to be in. Really enjoyed being at the game. 4 years ago, we squeaked by Yale in OT, not anymore.

I hung around the field after the game and saw a beautiful site - President VR stepping on the field to seek out coach Chesney and give him a hearty handshake of congratulations. Can also add that most of the players stayed for quite a while to soak up the atmosphere and greet family and friends.

Watching the replay now. I can understand why you guys were complaining about the event production- brutal.
After also watching the replay, I have to say they did a great job in capturing the Black Screens and loud static we got in the original broadcast. Let's hope by the Polar Park game they have learned from their mistakes.

Picking at nits, but the sound system is mostly "muffled" still.....they seemed to be getting bettah using the video board, good replays, info etc.

The double pass was a really well designed play.
Sneaking Purdy out of the backfield to catch the double pass was great.
Tough to defend

Need video of Sluka staring down Reno. This? The video we need is of Ng talking trash to #17 on his way off the field after a kickoff in the 4th. Didn’t see live what precipitated it but Ng was giving him the little person sign so I was hoping he tried to block Ng and Ng tossed him. Not sure if that’s what actually happened. Edit: Just looked for it on ESPN+ replay but Ng is out of frame for the part I wanted to see.

It’s actually a backwards pass by definition, but I get your point. Great play, but as you said we flirted with the LOS a little too much.

What a great game! Beautiful weather great environment and ran into dharry on the baseball field. Very impressed with Matt Sluka’s passing. We pounded Yale. We should be very proud of this team. Spoke with a number of players after the game. Gentlemen every single one of them.

I hope we don't look past 'Gate. The team is really juiced up for that Harvard revenge game. I don’t have any reason to believe they’re looking past anyone this year. These kids are focused now on Colgate. Not even thinking about Harvard.

A very impressive beatdown of the Bulldogs or Eli, whichever you prefer. The talent that HCBC has assembled at the skill positions on both sides of the ball is outstanding. Getting to the point where every deep ball that gets thrown on offense feels like it’s going to be caught, and every deep ball thrown by opponents feels like it’s going to get picked. Chris Smith has the offense humming. Great to see an OC who is finally allowed to open things up, and he is making the most of it. Night and day vs the last two OCs. Coach Rich Gunnell ex of Boston College is doing a great job with the receiver group as well. I think he and Chris Smith work well together. Don’t forget Coach Gunnell coached BC in a bowl game after Addazio was fired.

Here’s the Coker TD pass. Very close on whether the Sluka to Coker toss was a forward pass.

Very close but it looks good, even with the angle of the camera.

Very close but it looks good, even with the angle of the camera. Agree. Looks like the ball was just over the 40 when Sluka threw it and just over the 40 when Coker grabbed it. So the ball was not closer to the goal line when Coker received it than it was when Sluka released it.

Sluka is passing from the 40 almost exactly. Coker's feet are very slightly behind the 40 but he catches it on exactly the 40 or slightly ahead. If it's caught forward of the 40 even a smidgen, it's a forward pass. Let's just all agree this was as close as it could be. IMHO, if this was initially ruled a forward pass, the replay wouldn't be enough to reverse it to say it was a lateral.

I hate depending on replays in some of these games- the camera work is not first rate and there are not enough cameras. A lot of luck enters into some of these decisions.

And the announcers said the review/replay cameras were NOT the same ones we saw on tv.

Tells you how open Purdy was that he was still able to catch it without Yale impeding him. And Coker acknowledged it as well in interview. Says he was a former sometimes QB but that he does have an arm in there. Regarding DBs, I've often times felt the same way over the years about our DBs in general. I think they've clearly improved but still worry about coverage at times. Our stacking back there has helped.Ross injury hurts, he may have been our most promising edge type rusher for this season.

How many FB players are currently out due to injuries? IDK but feel we've been fortunate in that area. Resting starters in the second half of league games when possible will be advisable imo.

I have no special info, but Ross and McMurtrie are the only ones that I'm thinking of longer term. Maybe there are some injuries beyond the 2-deep or just week-to-week bangups. Thanks, Harry, didn't know about Shipman.

TE Morris looked a little banged up during the game but don’t think he came out for any length of time.

Thanks to all. It does appear HC has been lucky in regard to injuries, while we develop depth. I liked seeing a backup running back and quarterback. I know we are rotating in many linemen in each game, but I don't know them as individuals or just how deep they are. It is also nice to see our tight ends being used in the offense as more than blockers.
