After this win as we prepare for Colgate and what has the potential for a special season….
I would suggest
Immediately before the playoffs we rip up the existing contract
Double the salary for all assistants Give Chesney a new ten year contract at $900 k with incentives and a buyout for any school that equals the total value of the remaining obligation
Move the basketball salary to $750k and see who we can find
Change the recruiting budget for all sports so we lead the PL with the critical investment
And as mentioned on many other posts for other sports do something to bring us to the top of the PL in terms of investment
Schools that have done this have improved their academic reputation and rankings, dramatically improved athletically, and raised enough money to build new buildings and expand the endowment
Peace

Agree on Chesney and staff. Not sure about basketball unless we can land an absolute stud with a proven record of D1 success with that money. I like looking for another Chesney and being prepared to pay to keep him after he shows he can win here.

My son was trying to watch the game on ESPN+ and experienced the same things many commented on previously... it was bad! So, he ended up going to the local Spectrum channel and the game was being broadcast there! Channel 3 here in the Worcester area carried the game and had no problems! Wherein lies the problem? Was ESPN+ getting the feed from Spectrum and something went wrong? Or how was ESPN+ getting the game broadcast to all their subscribers? HC infrastructure? Seems like this should have been ironed out long before the kickoff!!!

Anybody on the Board here who have season tickets and a garage parking pass and/or purchased a garage parking pass and were refused entrance to the garage because the police put up a "Lot Full" sign??? Hearing that some folks could not park in the garage because of this... however there were at least 25+ parking spaces available....

West lot (Hojo’s) Aldo had a lot full sign, but there were at least a dozen spots open.

I parked in the garage, and did not have an issue finding a spot. The guard saw my pass and waved me in. No questions asked.
There was sufficient room at 12:45 PM.

I watched the ESPN+ replay earlier today and A) the broadcast quality was indeed poor and B) the announcer did mention a Spectrum providing the video. I didn‘t hear any apologies from the announcers regarding the broadcast quality.

I may have missed it, but was Sam Slade mentioned here ? 4 carries for 41 yards . Not a bad career opener.

Watching the replay now. I can understand why you guys were complaining about the event production- brutal. I do have one complaint about yesterday. I'm not a season ticket holder; I usually just go to the ticket window in the concourse of the baseball field (where there is will call). As I approached, a staffer stepped up and asked if I needed help. Was told that game day tickets were not sold at the Will Call booth; he pointed down the hill and told me we needed to go around the corner to "the next tent". So, I get down to the College St entrance and still see nothing. We proceeded down to Southbridge St, then decided to go into the baseball field. Asked a couple of more guys; no one could help me. Finally, I see this unmarked white tent right under the center field scoreboard. There was a guy at a table with a cash box. Asked if he was selling tickets and he said "yes, cash only". So I bought them there. Is that the deal now for walking up to buy tickets? Was able to buy them at the Will Call booth last yer. I was pretty annoyed at the lack of signage; I guess they don't want any fossils buying paper tickets any more. You have a right to be annoyed. Ticket sales should be much more organized, clearly marked and visible and conveniently located near stadium entrances, especially on game day!

He finished second in the 55 meter dash in the state of New Jersey. He got tripped up on one of his runs which would have been a TD. If he stays healthy watch out.

Coach C seems pretty happy and very content where he is right now. He's in a good place both career-wise and family-wise. He demonstrably likes the Worcester community and everything that Holy Cross stands for and unquestionably Kit & Vince gave him a lucrative (relatively speaking) financial package. I don't have any concerns we'll be losing him any time soon.

Chesney Update That win over Yale was his 28th in HC history and 95th all time.
He passes Dan Allen (1996-2003) and Maurice Connor (1898-1902 both with 27 wins at HC.
Next is Rick Carter with 35.

Was ESPN+ getting the feed from Spectrum and something went wrong? Or how was ESPN+ getting the game broadcast to all their subscribers? HC infrastructure? Seems like this should have been ironed out long before the kickoff!!! ESPN pays the PL for media rights. Individual members of the league may also sell the broadcast rights to individual games to a local broadcaster. (When ESPN+ broadcasts Lafayette - Lehigh, it broadcasts two streams, one with Lafayette's local broadcast, and the other with Lehigh's local broadcast.) When a school such as Holy Cross sells local broadcast rights to Spectrum for example, Spectrum is responsible for producing the broadcast. From replay, the feed to ESPN from Spectrum starts with the single end-zone camera, the only audio is the stadium announcer and crowd noise. There is no chyron scroll at the bottom of the picture. There are no advertisements. At about 22 minutes into replay, there begins several attempts to switch to the Spectrum broadcast. These do not succeed until the 23rd minute, when the Spectrum broadcast cuts in, mid-play. For whatever reason in the production truck, Spectrum was unable to provide ESPN with their broadcast feed until 23 minutes into the broadcast. This cost ESPN money because it had sold national sponsor advertisements for the game. I expect there will be some adjustment in ESPN payments to the PL because it was unable to run advertisements for the first 23 minutes of the game. Spectrum is also producing the broadcast of the game against Bucknell at Polar Park. I do not know whether Spectrum also has broadcast rights for the other three home games. Last year, for the playoff game against Sacred Heart, ESPN produced the broadcast. I believe ESPN produces the broadcast where there is no local broadcast. (In the case of minor sports, e.g., field hockey, I believe the school produces the broadcast._

What if Spectrum says we put the game out to our television viewers in fine style and made it available to ESPN/HC. They dropped the handoff. Don't look at us.
If the proof is in the pudding, wouldn't Spectrum have the stronger case? We don'teven know if Spectrum was aware of the issue in real time. Someone mentioned the announcers were oblivious.
Hopefully it's a fixable technology error and nobody is pointing the finger at the other guy.
You mention HC selling the rights to Spectrum. If Spectrum says we can televise the game but not pay a fee, does HC say no? I assume Spectrum doesn't pay a fee to televise all the High School games they carry.
If ESPN is saving on sending a production truck and crew do they pay Spectrum for this service? Interesting stuff.

Lack of clear signage, guidance from employees, and lastly needing cash to purchase day of tickets is not a friendly experience. They should at least have Venmo setup. I was able to buy my daughters ice cream impromptu with Venmo (Cash app was also an option) from an ice cream truck at the park yesterday; HC should be able to provide more forms of payment for tickets at Fitton.

Yeah, now that we're outdrawing UMass make it a professional operation. Interestingly Syracuse at UConn out drew the most recent HC and UMass home games combined.

OK, hoops, top this! Thanks for the nice comment '87. BTW, I believe from subsequent communications that we had another 5+ Classmates who couldn't locate us in the large crowd.
