Probably bad form on my part to throw out some names, but any thoughts on these coaches? In no particular order:
1) Jason Williford - UVA Associate Head Coach. Former BU assistant coach. 2) Orlando Vandross - UVA Assistant Head Coach. Former BU assistant coach. 3) Steve Curran - St. Bona Associate Head Coach. Played at Merrimack, plus other coaching jobs in New England. 4) Brian Blaney - Providence Assistant Coach 5) Howard Eisley - Michigan Assistant Coach. Former BC player, plus an assistant in the NBA. 6) Brandin Knight - Rutgers Associate Head Coach. Hot name that probably is looking to land a job higher than the Patriot League. 7) Christian Webster - VT Assistant Coach. Former Harvard player. 8) Mike Rice - Former Rutgers Head Coach. Looks like he is involved in AAU now. 9) Will Brown - Former Albany Head Coach. Five NCAA appearances.

There are some very intriguing and good names here, Mapp. Thanks.
Staying on the UVA theme, Brad Soderberg another guy I'd like to explore.

billyjack, maybe Kit should take a run at Ed Cooley. What do you think? He’s had some success at PC. Met him a couple of times and he seems to be a nice guy and think he’d like it at Holy Cross. Sorry, which guy did i mention that is completely bonkers? Funny, i had put Mike Rice on my list like Mapp had too... definitely an intriguing name

Lavall Jordan is another pass. He’d be a fish out of water at HC, much like Brett Nelson. Look at his career profile — never spent time at 1) small liberal arts college, 2) geographically, his entire career has been in the Midwest, 3) never had to battle with admissions for kids Why would we want to hire a coach whose only good year at his last job was with the previous coaches’ (Chris Holtmann) players? We don’t need a big name who is a retread from a bigger conference. That’s not our path forward, IMO. In the cases of Jordan or Robinson — if you couldn’t win at Butler or Oregon State, respectively, why should I think you’ll win at HC? By the way, Wayne Tinkle (despite having some really bad years mixed in with. NCAA Tournament trips) and Chris Holtmann have shown it’s not impossible to win at these schools. Again, none of my business due to my Providence fandom, so i apologize if i'm being a pain... At this point, i wouldn't just outright dismiss anyone. Especially since Nelson will most likely be around another 2 months and 2 weeks. Also, Tinkle was about to get canned until an improbable Pac-12 tourney run, then equallty improbably NCAA run... similar to Carmody's crazy run to the Patriot championship.

Kevin App - Williams.
Played at Cornell, was an asst. at Army.
Although nothing better about HC/Worc than Williams/Williamstown these days other than moving up two divisions.

Also, is Craig Robinson interested in returning to coaching? Had a good 2 years at Brown. Then had a tough gig at Oregon State, where he struggled. I think he's a Princeton offense type guy, which i would recommend not revisiting. Craig Robinson had two good years at Brown only because he inherited Glen Miller's players. Winning at Brown ain't easy but Miller did it. No doubt CR's "connections" made him attractive to OSU, but there's likely a very good reason he hasn't had a job since. Despite the Penn experience, Miller would've been a good fit at HC somewhere post-RW. Former D1 player at Northeastern & UConn, coached for/with Calhoun & Blaney, took Conn College to D3 Final Four, which also ain't easy. Personable and classy.

Not so much "being a pain" but exactly why are you here? We have a Notre Dame alum who grew up following the Crusaders and we have others who are from Worcester and have adopted purple blood (NAD!) and others who are from other PL schools. All have a connection either for or against Holy Cross but we know why and what their perspective is. You say you are a Friar fan. Absolutely nothing wrong with that at all (I have friends who are alums or affiliated with PC and as I said, I've met Ed Cooley) but what's the attraction for you to be here and put your oar in the water? All are welcome here but really, what's the attraction for you?

My brother and i would watch your games from northern RI on Channel 27 back then. My main connection is that my godfather, still with us in his mid-80's and is a Cross alum, and still follows HC of course, class of 1958. Also, a co-worker of mine, same age, WPI alum, has a son who graduated from the Cross a few years ago, so we discuss PC and Cross hoops. Other than that, you're right, i shouldn't be here. Hoping for good things for you guys. Peace brother!!

I will take Rick Pitino somebody that makes this team relevant over night is so needed.
Probably impossible but it feels we are so far away from exciting games at the Hart Center with over 1,000 fans.
Everything has to be down. Ticket sales, donations,
It's time to rip the bandaid off.

Why can't we get coaches like Joe Scott? We have. He's finished 10th in the Mountain West the last two years, 16-38 overall and 7-30 in conference.
There are 363 teams in D1. Air Force's strength of schedule this year ranks 362nd. Playing 10 of 13 games at homes against the likes of Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas Pine-Bluff can create the illusion of adequacy. Well, they haven't played any Division 3 teams like some school in Worcester that has played two.

Despite our luck with SK and BN there appears to be an undying attraction to rolling the dice with Assistant and Associate Head Coaches. I'm an Andy Sachs guy. I don't think Holy Cross can afford to gamble again with someone who hasn't had a consistent record of winning as a head coach.

And I agree with our PC buddy that we should stay away from coaches that would go all-in on the P.O.
