DeMorat’s backup and heir-apparent (Wilson) is in the portal ☹️but they’ve landed a St Anthony’s (LI) football recruit (verbal) who’s got a nice resume. Dante Torres. He just won our local Reichert award (best Catholic school football player on LI).
Some predictions on Fordhams board he’ll be a starting frosh next year. And he’s a pro style DeMorat type.
One tidbit: “St. Anthony’s won Class AAA of the CHSFL for a record 15th time this season as Torres passed for 3,269 yards, the second most in Long Island history. Sayville’s Jack Coan threw for 3,431 yards in 2016.”

Trying to recall the returning receivers and RBs that can help him adjust to the college game

If Torres lives up to the hype and ends up starting for Fordham next fall, when HC plays them in the Bronx, both schools QBs will be from Long Island. Sluka from Kellenberg Memorial (Uniondale) and Torres from St Anthony's (Melville).

Trying to recall the returning receivers and RBs that can help him adjust to the college game Fordham is losing their 1's at the skill positions, The remaining, I'm basing on who is in the transfer portal and who has eligibility left. QB they lose their top 2 - Demorat and Wilson (transfer portal, committed to Old Dominion) Wide Receivers They lose their top two - Fotis Kokosioulis (eligibility done) and DeQuece Carter (transfer portal) They get 3,4 and 5 back. #3 receiver MJ Wright (2nd team all PL) entered the transfer portal then backed out. He should be returning #4 receiver Mekai Felton (2nd team all PL) will be back #5 receiver Cody Garret will be back. Running backs The lose their #1Trey Sneed (eligibility done - his Freshman year was 2016 at Rutgers) #2 RB Julius Loughridge (2nd team all PL) is back #3 RB Trey WIlson is back

1 carry for (10) yards is only stat. Likely got sacked in his lone passing attempt

Would not surprise me if a Fordham Ram were to win the Tim DeMorat Award.

Not a bad idea to bring in a quality schollie FBS kid (buried on his own depth chart). Kudos to Fordham.

Not a bad idea to bring in a quality schollie FBS kid (buried on his own depth chart). Kudos to Fordham. Yes, the portal that FCS talent takes to FBS works both ways. The better talent evaluator will get the best of it for his school and FBS coaches aren't inherently better at talent evaluation than FCS coaches. An FBS team taking an FCS transfer is not more of a sure thing than the reverse.

He didn't play at Wisconsin for a reason. Has there ever been a QB transferring into PL that's lit it up?
Not worried.

The QB in the Fordham offense just needs to be able to throw the ball, and the offensive line must pass block A ton of QBs out there that can throw a deep ball. The keys will be How does the offense adjust to a new OC Does the QB have a quick release and the ability to see the field like DeMorat and go to a second or third option? Will the line give him the time to make a play
Won't be hard to get a QB to make them a solid offense. Getting another DeMorat is a more important question and unlikely in year one or two

Actually, I would like him to be "another DeMorat" with "another" 0-5 record against HC teams.

Can't think of schollie QB FBS kid brought in (we did try with Perry [schollie kid from BC buried on depth chart] who picked Brown instead and lit it up in the Ivy League) to PL in schollie era so I'm not sure of an available sample size. With the departure of DeMorat and his backup this was a smart move for Fordham. No guarantees he'll light it up or even start.

Didn't Harvard bring in a QB from LSU some years ago?

I suspect that we will not see as much of a drop off in Fordham’s QB play as one might expect with DeMorat’s departure. It’s my understanding that, in the last two years, Fordham has run a 21st Century version of the run and shoot which their coach learned while he was an assistant under Josh Heupel, the current Tennessee coach. Much like the offense that Texas Tech ran while Mike Leach (RIP) was the head coach, the Heupel/Fordham offense is supposedly a “plug and play” offense where most reasonably good QBs can succeed. Don’t know anything about the Ram third stringer or the transfer but I don’t expect Fordham’s ppg production to diminish dramatically unless those two are very weak.

Don’t forget that Fordham is losing the celebrated WR Kokosioulas as well. It’s not like DeMorat has been throwing to Joe Flebeitz every week.

Kokosioulas found a way to get to some DeMorat passes that others would not have caught.

Fordham's certainly not sitting back satisfied with a 9-3 record and making it to the playoffs. I'm not sure about the rest of the PL at this point but they clearly want to keep pace with us and landing a Wisconsin schollie QB (buried on the depth chart) gives them a better shot than other options. It's an attractive landing spot for a strong-armed quarterback given their style of offense. Of course, there is no guarantee the transfer will be a star or even start. Fordham's four best players (DeMorat, Kokosioulis, Saleh, and Greenhagen), were 5th-years (not surprising) and reloading solely via frosh recruits just won't cut it.

It took DeMorat time to grow in the new system and he was a great fit, and it will take time for his replacement to adjust and develop
