AD said a couple weeks ago that Q was willing to pay 800K/yr. Absurd, but do it if you can I guess...

Seems like a good hire for Qpac He is highly thought of. He has had other offers. At 34 and associate head coach under Jay Wright, he must believe he has a good chance to win there. Dunleavy was a guy who I thought would have been a good candidate as next head coach for HC.

This has been rumored for a few weeks but oddly had not yet been made official until today:

You do not hear of many 7 year deals. Takes him to 65 years old. Dambrot must have some agent. Lebron probably put in a good word for his HS coach

Lebron probably put in a good word for his HS coach Most that have taken the Duquesne position have never had better jobs afterward. This might not be an issue for Dambrot at his age. There are some reports that this seven year deal may be in the neighborhood of 1M/yr. If he gets fired, as has been the case with nearly all of the Dukes coaches in the last 40 years, he will be set financially for life and can simply start retirement.

That turns out to be an understatement! I know next to nothing about Duquesne basketball so I decided to educate myself and found that of the last 8 Duquesne head coaches (not including 2016-2017's Jim Ferry) 6 never had another head coaching job after leaving Duquesne: John Cinicola, Jim Satalin, John Carroll, Darelle Porter, Danny Nee, and Ron Everhart. Mike Rice left Duquesne after 1981-82 season and then was head coach for five years at Youngstown State. Scott Edgar left Duquesne after 97-98 season and resurfaced eight years later as head coach for two years at SE Missouri beginning in 06-07. It looks like Duquesne is the place to go if you want to end your head coaching career...

They have not been in the NCAA since 1977. That is the longest drought for a league school (even Fordham made it once in 1992). The Dukes are an afterthought in the Pittsburgh market. They are perennially near the bottom of the A-10 in attendance. They drew just 21,915 fans in total (18 home games) this past season for a home average of 1,218 that even many of their fans think was inflated. It was a strong program up until the late 70's but has not been since and the continued/extended lack of success has taken a toll.

I was looking at Sports-Reference.com and I don't think that site tracks other NCAA divisions

That is the longest drought for a league school (even Fordham made it once in 1992). But we all know that was before Fordham decided going to the NCAA tournament was too good for them and joined the A-10!

John Carroll had a brief tenure as interim coach of the Celtics. Carroll went from being interim coach of the Celts to being an AAU coach (insert your favorite wisecrack about AAU and the NBA here).

NM had four players transfer out in the past ten days. They included their leading scorer, who averaged 19 ppg, plus two other rotation regulars plus a 6-9 freshman who was redshirted. This article gives you some idea of the issues NM was having earlier this season: nmfishbowl.com/2016/12/28/the-comeuppance-of-craig-neal/
