After tonight’s PL results, we are essentially two games out of a sixth place spot as Lafayette holds the tiebreaker against us.

Oneill only played 17 min for AU tonight Wonder if he got hurt
Schedule is tough for us to win 1-2 more games but if we don't get more than two wins we likely finish 7-8

6-12 gets you 8th place, very doubtful Bucknell or Loyola have more than a couple wins left in them.
Maybe 7th if the win is vs BU and they don't win more than one of their other four.

Somehow my gut tells me that as improbable that Carmody’s team’s run to a PL tourney championship was, the likelihood this team will even meet half that success makes me think I have a greater chance winning the lottery.
The season can’t conclude fast enough for me. Each game is like a trip to the dentist for me.

I really don't see any way we avoid the play-in round at this point.
To give ourselves even the slightest of chances to finish sixth, we will have to go 3-2 over our final games, which puts us at 8-10. Lafayette would have to go 1-4 in their final five (they hold the tiebreaker against us).
American and Navy both are 7-6 -- very hard seeing either of them not reaching nine wins. American also would hold the tiebreaker agains us should we finish with matching 8-10 records as they've beaten Colgate (we won't have a win there).
My guess is we finish eighth and host either Loyola or Bucknell.
Would it surprise anyone if we lost out and ended up going on the road in the play-in?

Disappoint?...yes. Surprise?..probably not (sad to say).

Get swept and the path to avoiding the play in round became very improbable My level of surprise might have a lot to do with the health of Tse. Not too many wins coming with only dressing 7 scholarship players. We learned earlier in the year that the Big East has a rule you can't play a game with fewer than 7. UConn actually postponed a game because of it

Their "mighty six" played well for long sections, but they simply didn't have the numbers to compete. And, as the. announcers said, the HC players were simply more talented across the board.

HC has to start by making foul shots! At 63.7% HC is #343 in D-1 in free throw percentage, leaving multiple points on the table in most games. Believe it or not we had a much worse season within memory , one I recall well. In 03-04, in a rare losing season under Ralph, we made just 58.2% of our free throws.

That is what losing Brian Wilson, Pat Whearty, and Tim Szatko will do.

HC has to start by making foul shots! HC is tied for 336 in the country in terms of the % of points from free throws at 14.5. There are actually 4 PL teams below that percentage.

HC has to start by making foul shots! When George Blaney was running the ship in the Potter/Vicens/Doran/Perry era, as practice ended the players had to make ten foul-shots in a row before they could hit the showers. (Ronnie was done in no time, but Charlie Browne is still working on it - 45 + years later!)

Ronnie use to make 25 in a row everyday before and after practice.. (Jack the Shot Foley would make 25 in a row without touching the rim). It is about PERFECT PRACTICE..

Thanks for all the posts. My original post was prompted by the fact that at times we seem to leave far too many points out on the court. Making one or two more free throws we would've beaten American.

Perry's second in career ft%, a hair under Roger Breslin (who attempted 500 less foul shots than Ronnie).
Only one player in the top 10 played before Ronnie, that would be Ed Siudut. Four players played this century. Shooting in general has gotten better over the years....except the last year or so here.

Admittedly a digression from free throw shooting but “Easy Ed” was a great shooter and Jack Donahue was a great storyteller.
So, Jack’s doing a dorm visit with students in the common room (whatever they call them now) and regaling us and someone asks about Ed’s long range shooting. This, before the 3point line was a glimmer in somebody’s head.
Jack goes on to agree that Ed had great shooting range but he preferred he would shoot closer. He goes on to say that one game Ed just crossed the mid court line and lofts one. Jack jumps up and yells “ED!!!!!!!! (upset) . . . . (swish) . . . . BABY!!!” 😂
