Comparing a few schools on the number of incoming freshmen (fall of 2022, except for BC which is the cohort entering fall of 2021) receiving any form of financial aid. Ranked order.
Harvard 55% Bowdoin 45% (average aid award $62,400) HC 45% (average aid award $48,700) BC 41% Georgetown 37% Lafayette 31%

That’s an amazing number of families forking over $80,000 (plus) after-tax dollars - would have guessed the pct at HC would be less than that 55 pct.

Skidmore currently ranks 39 to HC's 33 in the USNWR national liberal arts category but logically their more generous financial aid should help them compete well against us.

Is that correct?

Is that correct? Yes, it includes merit aid, and merit aid scollies. I will try and post more on this in a bit.

Categories of non need-based aid included in the financial aid total amount. Harvard reported that of the 1091 students who entered in the fall of 2022 and received any fin aid, none received non need-based aid. For Holy Cross, 63 of 406 financial aid students received non need-based aid. This includes athletic scollies. It is possible, though the data does not display this, that an athlete could receive both need-based aid and merit aid. 197 students, all years, are receiving merit scollie aid this year. This presumably includes 85 football players, 26 on the basketball rosters, over 30 on the ice hockey rosters, leaving about 50 partial scollie students for all other sports, mostly on the women's side to offset football.
