Of note, both Johnson and Rawlings have ties to Paulsen from George Mason

I believe Coach Rawlings was hanging out with the team on Saturday.
Thanks for the scoop Dr.

Johnson was a star for Paulsen’s Bucknell teams from 2009-13 - coming to HC after 2 years at UVM - excellent hire

Are the new guys known as great recruiters?

Coach Rawlings had some experience at Brown as DBO, so familiar with academic driven recruiting (and as Lou noted, went to Penn): lionathletics.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/ted-rawlings/556Bryson and RJ certainly familiar with each other on the court. Has to be one of the most educated staffs out there - let's see if anyone takes time to research and rebuff this claim.

Interesting that Coach Rawlings did not play basketball in college-played lacrosse and sprint football.

I suppose that Mark Daigneault has shown us that one can succeed as a coach without having been a player.

I was not implying that Coach Rawlings was not qualified to coach basketball. I was just noting that his background is different than that of other assistant coaches. I’m confident that Dave Paulsen exercises sound judgment in selecting his assistants

Are the new guys known as great recruiters? Paulsen made it sound like BJ was an up-and-comer when he made him an assistant at George Mason.

Well educated group: BJ with PHD, RJ two Master's, Rawlings Penn grad and a Master's For those who are interested, there is a story behind Bryson getting the PhD from George Mason. He had spent a couple of years as a graduate assistant at GMU well getting his masters, and then took a job as an assistant coach at Brown. He intended to stay in that position, but Brown bungled and didn’t re-file the paperwork for him to stay in that position, being a Canadian citizen. They tried for months and hired an attorney, who specialized in that field, but still couldn’t resolve the issue. Thus Bryson could not continue as a coach, and returned to GMU as a graduate assistant while he pursued a PhD. After a year in that role, GMU had obtained the govt permission (green card?), and he became an assistant coach his final year there.

Paulsen got some serious players to go to GMU. If Bryson was part of those efforts, seems like a very good hire for us.

Of note, both Johnson and Rawlings have ties to Paulsen from George Mason With a Rawlings on staff, Adidas better up their game. However, Rawlings is now owned by MLB and currently only handles baseball and softball gear.

Guessing all the hands are on deck even if there’s been no official announcement yet. We won a game in men’s and women’s lax this week so the sports information dept is likely underwater with all the media requests.

Contracts are typically July 1 -June 30. HC's current assistants are being paid through June 30th, even as they look elsewhere. HC is likely eating FCBN's remaining year(s), so I doubt it would eagerly be picking up the remaining months of current assistants AND shelling out $$$ for new assistant coaches coming on board before July 1. I am 99% certain that DP is no longer receiving a weekly paycheck from Fordham.

I am assuming that you can neither work with players nor recruit unless you are employed.

In the President's Council webinar that just ended, DP said he was getting on a plane tonight and flying to Phoenix to attend a big AAU tournament there, and that the "other Coaches" would be attending other AAU tournaments. He used the plural. They also said that ther were not in a position to officially announce the new assistant coaches, but were working on it.

Much more appropriate basketball name than Rawlings!

I couldn’t even imagine HC not having the coaches on board and ready to go out and recruit. That would be extremely unusual for a team hiring a new staff
