Princeton releases its schedule today. Nice opening game against Rutgers at the Cure Arena in Trenton (with tickets starting at $50), but that is offset by 2 homes games with 2nd rate D3 schools. Princeton will be visiting Sojka Pavilion Wednesday November 29th.

There are so many made for TV "Challenges, Tournaments, and Showdowns" combined with P6 schools going to 20 conference games, that low majors almost have to schedule D2-D3 teams just to get an acceptable amount of OOC home games.

Everybody likes a home game
The more guarantee games you take, the more you skew your OOC away from home. D2/D3 helps balance that
Last year HC played 13 OOC games. 6 at home, 5 away and 2 neutral. HC could have skipped the D3 games and found two regional low majors to have home and homes, but that would have meant 5 home and 6 away. Neutral (unless it's the Centrum) feels away so the schedule would feel like 5 home and 8 someplace other than home. It's a balancing act
Personally, I would prefer sticking to D-! even if it means one less game at Hart. I'm also not a student stuck on a campus (possibly without a car) and go to most away games in New England.

It's like we never left the Big East...initial planning meeting between Gavitt, Calhoun, etc. Two games in New York last year, at SJ this year. Thats the well trodden path HC took in their glory days and it's a good way to rebuild the program now.

Can't lose what you never had or leave a conference and rivalries leadership blocked us from joining….a handful of very important positive decisions were made by Father JEB for the future of the school, but overall a grade of his leadership was at best a C-
His alleged contributions are significantly overrated and resulted in a significant drop in the national perception of the value of a Holy Cross education. Under Vince we will recover!!

There were many softies Coach Pitino could have scheduled. Yet, he chose HC which gives our program a boost. HC has little to no following in NYC Metro outside of a few alums. Connection w/ Coach Paulsen? It seems he did us a favor. No doubt he does not read Crossports.

If not, we are just sharing like minded emotions or thoughts based on memories of the past and in my opinion that would be boring. Obviously I am a voice in the wilderness as there are few if any who agree. While I believe we are evaluated by the decisions we make during the time frame they are made, but I believe it is more important to evaluate the impact they have on the future. I appreciate your thoughtful comment, and respect your opinion. I guess it is time to take a break from the board—-✝️✝️✝️

Your predictions of an explosion in D-1 alignments are coming true with eerie precision. You are aspirational in your desire for Holy Cross to compete with the best in academics and athletics. "De mortuise nil nisi bonum dicendum est" (Latin for "Of the dead nothing but good is to be said") and all that, but Father Brooks was the man in the arena for decades and I don't think he would oppose discussions of the pros and cons of major policy decisions at HC. If we can grade coaches we can grade administrators. It's a tough job for Vince as it was for Father Brooks. HC is a very expensive near but not elite liberal arts college with a pronounced religious name. You have a point that athletic success is a strong asset.

He also has a very close friend who is a HC graduate that BLEEDS purple and white. No doubt that this friendship lead to this game being played. I also think that there is mutual respect between Paulson and Pitino. Great money opportunity for HC as well.

Possibly true, but let’s not get too bubbly about Cheater Rick. Let’s not forget he was the one who unnecessarily lured this close friend away from HC late in the 2009 spring for a very premature end to his HC tenure and a very deep HC dive into hoops hell, or hopefully, purgatory.

Pirtino has given many good reason to dislike him. His coaching ability is beyond question except, perhaps, by him (otherwise why does he get caught cheating so often?). I admire his coaching ability but do not like him or his lack of ethics. Nothing there to "get over."

44, for the thousandth time here, Holy Cross does not have colors (plural), only one- Royal Purple.
Oh, in case you don’t know, up until a few years ago we had a cognomen (hope auto incorrect doesn’t screw this up on my iPhone) that was around since 1925 of a Crusader and was more than a name. 😉😂 He used to actually sit on a horse and carried a lance but he apparently was killed.
