Students have been pretty apathetic towards men’s basketball in recent seasons. I’m hoping the win at G’Town will bring out a fair number of students who desperately want a winning basketball program! Football has been able to draw students, perhaps that will have a carryover affect! I think it should. Especially freshmen.

That is so true. But he was undefeated against DIII teams. Unless you count that game against UMass-Boston Can still remember guys from UMB on the wing well over 20 feet out lining up 3s and Verbeek with a huge wingspan advantage running right by them.

2,250 at Hart tonight. Thats my prediction. I think that's wishful thinking, but could be in the vicinity. I went back to look at attendance in FHCBN's first home game at HC (Tuesday night against Fairfield, so similar circumstances as tonight against SHU) -- 1,712 attendance. For FHCBC, his first home game was a Thursday night against UNH -- 1,794 attendance. Despite the win over Georgetown and a new coach in town who is very likable and already made a great impression...it's a Tuesday night game against an opponent that isn't exciting. I'll give a bit of a bump in attendance thanks to Georgetown win and some buzz around the program and say 1,981.

On a separate note as far as students go, I imagine it's pretty hard to clap your hands while holding a phone.

A generic student is more likely to show up and support a buddy who they play floor hockey in the dorm hall with or who is their chem lab partner

Do students count towards announced attendance? Announced attendance is usually paid attendance. I'm sure there are some season ticket holders on this board that don't make every game. Since they're paid, they count even if not there. On the flip side, students don't pay to get in, so I honestly don't know how/if they fit into the announced attendance

Just saw on Instagram that HCDP is gonna be at Hogan this afternoon for a meet and greet called "Doughnuts with Dave". Drumming up excitement and I'm sure asking students to come out and support. This guy is great. Let's go HC!

There weren't many students in attendance last night for the women's game. The Field Hockey team was there to cheer on the goalie who received a goalie of the year award at half time. To their credit the FH players stayed the whole game and cheered.

Several members of the Men’s BB team were in attendance last night at the Women’s game. I spotted Joe O, Mike Rabs, and Bo. Others could have been in attendance.

So, I'll start w/the 712 and add 500 to that...1,212.

Their announced attendance, 7,500, means there were 12,500 empty seats. Do they tarp off the upper level? The lead in game for the FS2 replay of the HC game at 1AM this morning was Long Beach State at DePaul. Similar big arena. It was a ghost town, much less enthusiasm than at GU-HC. This isn't the original Big East. Depaul's arena is MUCH smaller than Georgetown's. DePaul holds 10,387 while Georgetown holds 20,356. Providence on the other hand is averaging 11,580 through two games (one with Columbia and Milwaukee). They are likely to sell out tonight against Wisconsin.

A lasting memory I have of a PC game at the Dunk a few years ago is the young men and women in business attire gladhanding, making contacts with each other, probably coming to the game downtown after work. They all couldn't have been PC alums and I thought PC and the City had it going on together in a way that is often projected by marketing people to get a publicly financed arena or stadium built, but not always fulfilled like at the DePaul game.

Good news - we have our home opener in ten minutes.
Bad news - looks like we are stuck with the Gehl / VanRyn duo all season.
