Sounds like a groundswell of support on this board to change the name of the Super Bowl Trophy to the Belichik Trophy. I'm waiting for the petition.

Let's put media hype to the side. The media is always looking for a defining event headline to hype ratings. 24 hour "news"/sports cycle. Was Belichik a GOAT NFL coach? Or, was his success due in large part to GOAT QB Tom Brady? Can't be both. Belichik never won a super Bowl w/o Brady. Whereas, Brady won in Tampa Bay w/out Belichik.. I believe Coach B's w-l record w/out Brady was mediocre. Belichik out. Pete Carroll out. Nick Saban unquestionably a college GOAT coach, out. Father Time. I'll be a contrarian to keep the conversation going. Did Belichick teach sixth round draft pick Brady how to be a great quarterback? I always felt that Brady's success was based, at least in part, on his ability to know where everyone on both teams would be on every play and to capitalize on that information. That demanded hard work and a lot of study. Did Belichick and/or his staffers instill that discipline in Brady? During the glory years, great players wanted to come to Foxboro and play for the Pats. Did they come to play with Brady or for Belichick? Probably both. Maybe BB goes to Atlanta and leads them to a championship. We will certainly have to factor that into the GOAT determination. I'm betting Atlanta, because it'll be a lot easier to get to 13 wins in the NFC South.......or Dallas, Buffalo or Philadelphia....whichever team flames out in the 1st round ( and one probably will )

Let's see what the next chapter is for Belichick if he starts somewhere without Brady and take another team to the Super Bowl, than he's up there with Lombardi. Didn't Lombardi leave Green Bay and flop at Washington? Flop would be putting it nicely, but, he was terminally ill

Since this is our active NFL thread, re the Chiefs-Dolphins playoff game at Arrowhead on Saturday, 11 degrees during the day, zero at kickoff with wind chill making it feel colder - disappointing they can't move it up to noon or 1pm but of course TV revenue pays the bills. Not so much for fans, but these kind of conditions tend to give a bigger home field advantage when the visitors are from a warmer region. The Chiefs might not want an earlier game Miami has NEVER won a game with the temperature less than 37 degrees

In the picture above, those "clouds" of vapor around the fans make it look like they set their clothes on fire to try to stay warm. or sitting through the Pats-Titans divisional playoff in 2003.....that was cold

The Chiefs might not want an earlier game Especially since the Dolphins are notorious for creating a massive home field advantage for themselves in Miami by having away team's bench in the sun and their own in the shade. They also elect to wear white home jerseys and have the opponent wear solid color. Dallas has also done the same thing for years as well, although its less of an advantage in the Jerry Dome

BB's W-L record w/out Brady is 84-103, hardly Hall of Fame numbers. Admittedly, many other factors such as assistants, roster, etc.go into a team's success. But, clearly BB's 83-104 numbers w/out Brady do not support any claim to GOAT despite media hype.Bill won with Brady & lost without Brady's Pats won w/Bill at the helm. Brady left the Pats. Bill's teams lost, And, an older ready for retirement Brady won on a different team,Tampa with a different roster w/a different coach.Bill could not win w/out Brady. Bill is a good competent professional coach who benefitted from Tom Brady, the GOAT QB. All this talk of GOAT is merely media driven to hype up interest & controversy & ratings. I strongly believe BB would agree.

Game in Buffalo tomorrow PPD because of heavy snowstorm/wind prediction. Moved to Monday at 4.
With Monday being a holiday, ratings won't be down that much; smart, safe decision.

Belichik or Vrabel to Dallas? Belichik & Jerry Jones in the same organization? Vrabel might be a better fit. Of course a Super Bowl win in Dallas would shut down all Belichik's naysayers. Or, continued failure would be a blow to Belichik's reputation. Of course Belichik wants to continue to do the thing he loves to do, coach. Let the critics stuff it. Will NBC find a way to fill their overflowing coffers further by streaming any future Belichik games exclusively on Peacock?

Look, we all know that even though Belichick is out in New England, with Bob Kraft at the helm, it's going to be a happy ending.

I can't remember exactly, but Shula diminished the Patriot's record because they cheated, The Spygate controversy. Bill holds grudges.

Belichick-Shula was true hatred......Agree with you, the total victories record means infinitely more to him than a non-TB12 SuperBowl......its the only reason he is not retiring.....

I suppose they could have moved the game. I think they had about 9 hours from the announcement of travel ban and the actual start of the ban. That gave them a window to get the teams out of town while they figured out where to play. Moving time or location, something was moving unless both teams had a slumber party at the stadium and played in an empty one

The Toronto Argonauts and Toronto FC play at the 30,000 seat outdoor BMO (Bank of Montreal) Stadium with heated coils in the soil and grow lamps for the grass. That would have been adequate to handle the game as half of Bills and Steelers fans couldn't get past the border patrol anyway.🙂
