My own impression from reading different message boards was that outside of this region, the majority of fans look at Ivy and PL football as Nerd football, and assume the PL does not offer any schollies at all. Hopefully HC opened some eyes of those who may have tuned into the SDSU game.

Are there any successful non D-1 coaches out in MAC land that Kit might be familiar with?

A LONG way to go for 10-15 minutes a game.

I think ND has done a pretty decent job so far. He works hard on D, can push the ball quickly when needed, sees the floor, and takes pretty good care of the ball (by far the best assist/turnover ratio). I wouldn't mind seeing him try to get to the rim more often, because he can shoot free throws.
The team desperately needs Louth back. He may not have great post moves or leaping ability, but he holds his ground defensively, stays out of foul trouble, and actually has some decent court awareness imo (makes some decent passes from time to time). Unfair to ask guys like GG and CK to guard guys like Keegan Records in the paint (see what Chris Doherty did Saturday). Just ultra frustrating not knowing what Louth's status is - if the announcing duo cannot ask and update us on the next broadcast, don't even bother coming on air - we can watch Charlie Chaplin style.

I feel like the defensive intensity has ramped up a bit in the last couple of games, so I guess that is progress.
Offensively, though, it just seems like they depend solely on individual skills (mainly, GG) to get things done. Yesterday, 7 assists and 14 turnovers. KFC may do chicken right; HC offense? Not so much.
Maybe someday Louth will come back, and there will be a little more depth.

Looking forward to 2023 already.
Looking back again at the game, I admit that while watching I was having thoughts about HC needing to get others involved offensively to be able to win. But to flat out knock Sluka is totally absurd as far as I'm concerned. The team has fed off of him all season long.
I feel similarly about Ng. It was disappointing that they didn't have their normal advantage with special teams (which I felt they needed to knock off those guys); I also acknowledge kickers can sometimes get mental blocks and go on bad streaks. But - you don't all of a sudden become unable to kick a ball deep. Has to be injury related.
In an effort to try to provide some personal balance to my immediate reactions after the game: on that 4th quarter run by Davis with the brutal stiff arm at the end, I noticed some SDSU players mocking the HC players with their arm/hand waves (or whatever it is). I had no problem with that at all; as an old man I did not like all the constant chirping and gestures (along with needless penalties) that we saw during the season. I know others do it; I just don't like it, and wish that they would get away from that going forward.
SDSU is very, very good team. Congratulations to their players and fans.

If they had run the ball and HC couldn't stop them, shame on them. That play was clearly designed to score.
The trailing team using their timeouts while the winning team just tries to run out the clock happens all the time. And yes, you can't try a field goal there, or take a knee. Run it. Period. My last word on the subject.

Congrats to team for a great season. They proved to the national pundits they belonged....not that we didn't know already.

Just looked at the final score - IW wins 66-63. Not OT. FIFTY-SEVEN points scored in the 4th quarter. That might be one to watch on replay.

Crossisback sat by me last night, and we kidded about how Blaney Gym could become the new home arena of men's basketball.

Box score shows 1025 or so attended last night’s game. Really? Isn’t that misleading at best? Probably was meant to be 10.25 dozen

What was very noticeable to me was how easy multiple Q players were able to get to the rim without much resistance (what I had envisioned for our program back when CBN was hired). Bo was really the only guy trying to get to the tin, and it seemed like there was always at least one guy ready to contest. I dunno.....better players, better coaching?
I give them credit for not giving up, and battling back to where there was at least a real endgame for a change. But they just are not talented enough to be down 2 core guys.
Speaking of that, I have an idea for a future video board segment during timeouts: Guess Why I am Out
"I'm so and so. Can you guess why I am in civvies tonight? Is it:"
A. I have an upper body injury B. I have a lower body injury C. I have an illness, and probably shouldn't be here D. Not really crazy about the coach
Honestly, for the first time leaving the house on a weeknight to drive to the Hart is starting to feel like a chore. Something positive has to happen, real soon.

Neon Deion staying at Jackson would have been a feel good story but I have no criticism for his moving on up. Pretty much the same as I would feel about our coach moving on up if he ever wants to. I just would like the HC PTB to make the best case possible for him to stay. Interesting that the State of Mississippi paid (white) Brett Favre more Welfare money for speeches he never made (Favre paid the money back after everything was exposed in the media I believe) than (black) Sanders for all the real positive work he did. There is room for locals to make a fuss over that and try to get the state higher education system to spend adequately to keep the program strong at Jackson State. What do you think of him telling his new players to hit the road?

The 63 vs 60 policy is just about the silliest thing I have ever heard. Just what is the league accomplishing with this, other than to tie another appendage behind each team's back?
