breezy, the very few offers to West Coast players is a reflection of 1.) turnover in the assistant coaches ranks had an effect on the recruiting geography 2.) a decision to concentrate recruiting on other sections of the country 3) a wait and see what offers that west coast recruits get before offering 4.) not getting impact players from the west coast 5.) all of the above 6.) none of the above 7.) some of the above, and__________________

All of these guys have beautiful Holy Cross graphics in their tweets! It makes me think that our coaches or someone must be sharing how to post good HC images. Anyone know about that?

Phreek --
I don't have any information or insight that would allow me to answer your question with any authority. I can only offer speculation. It is true that the Coach Recruiting map on the HC football web site shows California was territory assigned to two assistant coaches who have departed; I suspect that means that focus on potential California recruits will come later. HC has made offers to two recruits in Oregon, but over the past few years there have been very few recruits from the Pacific Northwest. (Graduated senior Hunter Hudgens a notable exception.) I suspect that your items 2, 3 and 4 are not accurate reflections of the views of the coaching staff.
Chu Chu --
I don't know where the recruits get their HC graphics but I suspect they are available from the HC athletics website. I have seen similar type graphics for many teams, so it seems to be common-place and not something that is unique to HC.

Yeah, but I went there when they were decent in soccer and outstanding in cross country track but didn't field a football team and mediocre in basketball. They'll still take my money though. I also understand there is another "Galloping Friar" (I think they eventually got rid of the dopey adjective) who posts here but not for me to expose him.

Leave him out? Easy. By the late 70's I considered myself a Crusader, not a Friar, galloping or otherwise, and had long since left Long Island, only to return later as a sort of Prodigal Son.
In my day, the guy that ran all things athletic was Archie DiMarco, R.I.P. Archie was a little guy but was reportedly the Navy boxing champ at his weight class and also had been a U.S. Olympic boxing coach. He famously told one of the larger students who was giving him some lip that if he continued: "If you keep it up, you will find my size 8 shoes up your anus." (yeah, direct quote).

Not sure I'm the guy sader 70 was referring to, but I went to Holy Family, which was one of 4 diocesan high schools on Long Island at the time Three years after I graduated, the bishop "sold" the Holy Family building & campus to St. Anthony's for $1 as long as it stayed co-ed. I'll leave it at that lest I open some old wounds with Bishop McGann.
But, speaking of Gus Alfieri, I have one memory of him coaching. For the 15 years or so Holy Family was open, St. Anthony's was our main athletic rival. We generally dominated them in football, they us in basketball. During one game Gus was getting pretty animated. Following one call Gus was really upset but the gym was fairly quite and one mother (not sure if it was a player's mom or not) stood up and yelled "Hop on the Bus Gus!" All heard it, including Gus who flashed a look of death at the parent, the official broke out in a huge grin. Gus turned to continue yapping, saw the grin and stopped badgering him, well for that specific call anyway.
