I am afraid that "tunnel vision" is a common condition when some of us look at these issues.

Don't interpret my support for hockey as a lack of support for basketball, baseball (the NCAA winning sports; yet 70 and 63 years ago).

How'd the new rink look? I'm sure they wouldn't skip an upgrade for ONE AND ONLY HC team that can compete with the country's best I can appreciate your POV on this ( you know how I feel about Fitton's press box and locker rooms ).
Honestly, with the paint job, new locker rooms, new lighting and large scoreboards the rink looks very nice now. Is the ceiling too low ? Yes. Is it too small ? Yes. But for now it'll do.

Went on a tour of the LAC today, ADNP was the tour guide..a few notes of interest... There will be video boards in the Hart Center! Just not yet..The infra-structure is in place, but the funding (2-3 million dollars) is not...Hopefully it will come thru in a year or two.
Blaney court will have 2 additional hoops mounted on the outer wall, a scoreboard will go up also..There is a small (4 rows high) set of bleachers along the inner wall...
After completion of all the construction, the "branding" will take place thru out the complex. That is all the logo's pictures and graphics..
The area in front of the building will be returned to grass..most likely in the spring. SOON, the road around the building will be finished and opened.
The new sports medicine area is state of the art. 2 hydro-therapy pools, one cold and one hot , are in use..I think the whole womens hoops team was in the treatment area when we went thru getting post practice attention. Plenty of room in there as the football team was getting ready for their game at the same time.
Both hoops locker rooms have a lounge area with sofas and arm chairs for the players to use...Wall mounted TV set also..Plenty of room for all the players to get ready.
There is a new conference room at the opposite end of the Hart from the Ryan room that also overlooks the court..this is in the AA area...
The Womens Ice hockey locker is very nice. Stick rack as one enters and each player has a large cubicle for all the gear...
I think everybody who sees the LAC will be impressed as were the hoops alumni! KEEP YOUR EYES IN THE PRIZE! another 6 months to completion!!!

There is definitely a drop down screen in front of the room. It was down when I was there and took a picture but too blurry to post.

Thanks for the tour narrative and the pix.
One observation, the field turf was not lined for other sports, though the contract specs called for it, and the rendering showed it to be so lined.
The several rows of bleacher seats in Blaney are apparently for volleyball if for some reason they can't play a game on the Hart court.
Did the tour include old strength and conditioning, where the football coaches suite will be, or is work there still ongoing?
NAD got to see the men's hoops locker room, a surprise visit! Perhaps he will comment on whether he considers it to be first class, second class, or bush league.
Did anyone ask ADNP when work to replace the old field house will begin?

I asked Pine about the fieldhouse, but he had no timeline yet. The locker room is nice, spacious, and someone mentioned lots of hot water and pressure to get it up the hill. With lots of bodies and stuff, it was being utilized. Pine commented on old conditioning space which will become offices, but the area was closed for the tour

I am encouraged that the area was closed for the tours...and no one has yet asked "what is being 'covered up' by this?"

Tom, 45, myself and other posters were also in the men's locker for the surprise visit. Definitely not "bush league" or second class. Is it as good as Duke or Kentucky? Probably not but the players seemed pretty happy with it. (I did not ask if the water was hot enough for them, maybe the other guys did).
As for the fieldhouse, I was told that they will start building it when they have the money. I didn't ask how short they were but I am sure if I hit a big Powerball that would put them over the top.

Re OFH v NFH
Iirc, a few million was donated to renovate OFH... but thinking has now changed... complete renovation would be close the cost of a NFH on the same site... architects have been hired to develop NFH concept/plans to fix costs... this would be used to fund raise

PP said "One observation, the field turf was not lined for other sports, though the contract specs called for it, and the rendering showed it to be so lined."
I was looking around a few weeks back when the field turf was being installed. The numbers, lines and hash marks are not painted on the turf, workers shaved the turf and glued in new white material..Perhaps lines for other sports will be painted so they may be removed when not needed, similar to what is done at Gillette (soccer to football)..

Park Smith sold part of his wine cellar, albeit a small part, ten years for renovating the old field house. Sale raised $5.3 million, which if invested properly by the college, ought to be worth a bit more than that in 2017. www.nytimes.com/2007/02/14/dining/14pour.htmlBy my calculus, that is $14-15 million in hand. And while searching for the amount raised by the wine sale, I found this. www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/2017/magnificent-wines-from-park-b-smith-collection-n09708.htmlOnly 25 half bottles of Chateau d'Yquem.

Appreciate the creative attempt to try an unveil the indoor turf field, but that was poorly executed.

The most recent video is definitely not the athletic department's best work but always good to see the new facility.

Got a personal tour from a staff member yesterday. Saw the new Blaney Court, video and conference rooms, sports medicine, indoor practice field, etc...Looks great. A big step up from the past.
