A better question in these parts might be asking who ISN'T going.

My wife's nursing school - St Vincent's (now defunct for nursing) - is celebrating her 50 year reunion. Of course it is that weekend. She not only attended my 50th at HC but decided to leave a gift to HC in her will. Going with her is the least I can do after over a half century of loyalty and love. PS: I also missed my 50th at Bergen Catholic High School, since my youngest son was married out of NJ that weekend. Some alums did say I had "misplaced priorities." Oh well. I can deal with both my choices.

I am going in order to make up for missing the '66 game as it was over Thanksgiving weekend, as it always was traditionally, and the first chance I had to go home in freshman year. My brother ('69) went and raved about the game and gave me a blow by blow account of the game especially "the bomb." JL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PK. So, since I missed '66, and for some reason there was no game in '69 . . . . oh yeah, I remember now . . . . I am expecting nothing less than another Holy Cross victory.

39 yards of pure beauty with 70 seconds left in the game 32-26 a score etched in the minds of all who were there—and many others

I still remember reading a quote from one of the BC linemen. After their comeback, with tears in his eyes, he said, "We worked for this. We deserved this win." I imagine the BC players and fans remember that game as well.

Hard to believe it's only a little ovah a month to kickoff at Chestnut Hill. Been to a few games there since our last visit there in 1985...this will be HC's 1st game there since Alumni Stadium was renovated/expanded in the late 80s or early 90s.
Anybody here go to the game in '78? We had no right winning that game but somehow stole a 30-29 win. BC finished 0-11 that season. We returned the favor in '80 blowing a 13pt lead in the 4th Q.

I was at the 1978 game - big play was HC returning blocked field goal for a touchdown. BC went 0-11 that year and we went 7-4 with wins at Army, Air Force and BC, so not as huge an upset as 1977 win over BC.

Ring of Honor inductee Glenn Verrette knocked down the attempted two point conversion pass with one minute left in the game to seal the deal. Our win at Air Force earlier in the season was against a young head coach named Bill Parcells.

He had a flask of I guess bourbon plus a couple cigars....one he smoked during 1st half and the other he lit up after Verrette made that play to seal the win. I remember we went to an HC post-game cocktail party somewhere on BC's campus and he was enjoying every minute.
Great memories....

Can we assume your father is an HC grad and not a BC grad? Or, at least has purple leanings?

I made the trip to BC from Long Island for the '78 game.Other than the return of the BC field goal attempt for a touchdown, my chief memory is of a frustrated BC player, just after time ran out, kicking his helmet from the center of the field towards the sideline.

Some incredible plays in that 78 game in addition to the Fisher TD. BC broke off one or two long runs only to fumble at the end of them, recovered by HC.
Then, BC threw a screen or dumpoff pass out of their end zone right to a Cross D-lineman. Right to him. Don't think the kid had to do anything but catch it.
Also HC had a goal line stand, two or three cracks inside the 1.
