Fouling Floyd would be quite different than fouling Nelson. That's why I mentioned that NBA teams may have fouled Shaq or Dwight Howard in similar situations. However in this case, it is very obvious the foul was not intentional - by FOH's reaction if nothing else. Yup, I'm not disagreeing with you. What is the threshold for committing a foul then? A 60% FT shooter? I'm sure after the game, FOH may have thought to himself, "Boy, while we didn't want to foul there, that actually worked out pretty well. Maybe we should think about doing that in the future."

Perhaps he might consider it if the shot clock is off. But I doubt he - or any coach - is likely to foul when they are going to get the ball back with 12-15 seconds left anyway. If the shot clock were off, it might make it a possible option.

I doubt JF would be in the game under these circumstances. Disagree he would probably be in the tie game, not expecting to be fouled

I doubt JF would be in the game under these circumstances. The only time he wouldn't be in the game is if we had the ball with the lead, otherwise he'd be on the floor, which he has been in circumstances like this throughout the season.

Loyola beat Navy this afternoon 79-70 (in a game postponed from yesterday) - they're both 6-9 now and one game clear of HC and BU at 5-10

Do not know if this was already reported, but, as of Monday, Bucknell has dropped to a 16 seed (thanks to HC) in Lunardi’s Bracketology, playing Duke in the East Regional. Wonder if they are near the First 4 ? currently, St. Francis(pa), Quinnipiac, Prarie View and Norfolk State hold those spots

Even then, Sam Houston State from the Southland also should be seeded below the top PL teams. Btw, the four teams you mention all belong to conferences that are far worse than the PL, as is the Southland.. Bucknell's only danger is losing a few more games - which is certainly possible with Sotos playing with one arm. Of course if they do that, they likely won't be in the tournament anyway.

Bison please stop with the injury excuses if Sotos is playing with one arm he should not be playing at all. He's playing 30+ minutes a game and took 9 shots in two of the last three games has he shot with his left arm.

Either the SWAC or MEAC reps will go straight to the Round of 64. Too early to have any clue whose in the PiG as it all depends on who the "biggest Cinderallas" are coming out of conference tourneys. Navy? See you in a a play-in game. Bucknell? I think they've done quite enough OOC to prove they are better than a PIG or a 16 seed at all for that matter. Hard to make this statement after UMBC last year but I would consider Bucknell to be one of the strongest 16s I've seen if they ended up there this year.

In a season filled with injuries among the better teams or maybe most of the league
Right now the top 3 team in the PL are Colgate Lehigh Bucknell
2 most surprising Lafayette Loyola
Most confusing
Holy Cross BU American
All teams have their excuses but HC never having Niego for PL play had the greatest impact
If If and buts were candy and nuts o what a great season every team might have had

Bison please stop with the injury excuses if Sotos is playing with one arm he should not be playing at all. He's playing 30+ minutes a game and took 9 shots in two of the last three games has he shot with his left arm. He had a dislocated shoulder and has a torn labrum that requires surgery as soon as the season ends. He is playing with a brace that significantly restricts his motion. If they had a better alternative at PG, they would use it - but they don't. As it is, teams don't really guard him closely away from the basket, so he has to shoot occasionally when he is wide open. But statistically, here are a couple items: 3 point pct pre-injury = 37%, since injury = 17%. Assist: turnover ratio pre-injury = 2.7:1, since injury 1.5:1. PL games. Watching him, it is clear that it is hard for him to extend the arm or get much velocity into a pass. Due to the injury, he has gone from someone who would have been 3rd team All-PL to an average PL player.

Given talent differential in the league I believe Loyola has had a great year and Kostecka, despite the number of shots early in the season is PL POY and Hardy is COY with FOH right behind him
In January they were at best a poor team

As I am (like Matt Damon's Brett Kavanaugh) a "keg is half full kind of guy," I figure HC wins out beating Colgate and American to get to 8-10. So, what are the final standings scenarios?
Current standings (remaining games) RPI as of today
Bucknell 12-4 (Army and Navy) 99 Lehigh 11-5 (American and Loyola) 84 Colgate 11-5 (HC and Laf) 109 American 8-8 (Lehigh and HC) 262 Army 7-9 (Loyola and Bucknell)229 Lafayette 7-9 (BU and Colgate) 257 HC 6-10 (Colgate and American) 190 BU 6-10 (Laf and Navy) 228 Loyola 6-10 (Army and Lehigh) 276 Navy 6-10 (Bucknell and BU) 258
Feel free to come up with your own wacky scenarios, but mine is easy.
1. HC wins out to go 8-10 2. American goes 0-2--not unreasonable at all playing us and Lehigh. They end up 8-10. 3 Army splits to go 8-10 (I would like them to lose two but I am trying to be at least a little reasonable here.) 4 Lafayette splits to go 8-10 5. BU goes 1-1 and ends up 7-11 6. Loyola and Navy go 0-2 and end up 6-12
Crusaders end up 4th based upon the RPI tie breaker and get a bye and a home game.
EDIT: Ok, so I now realize that I misunderstood the tie breaker thing based upon something I read on another thread that has now been clarified there. I'll need to go back and work through the multi team tiebreaker between HC, American, Army, and Lafayette to see how it come out but now I am hungry so I'm not going to do that.

Bucknell's offensive efficiency of 157.1 is highest on record as KenPom goes back to 2002 Bison made a school record twenty-one threes (21-36) and ended with an 80.7% EFG. Oh, and they were +18 on the boards.
Other than that, Fran, how was the play?

And they were 2-9 on threes in the last 8:30, when the end of the bench was in. LC was packing in their defense and that was the best chance to get points for Sechan, Ellis, and Spear. Prior to that, they were 19-27 on threes. Andrew Funk had 21 points in about 15 minutes. Took 9 shots.

Lafayette had 12 players log 11+ minutes of playing time and as bison notes Bucknell gave everyone a chance to play today. There were probably more combinations out there today than on a Rubik's cube. 9 Bucknell players registered at least a 140 O-Rating
