Impressive win for Loyola. My daughter recently picked up lacrosse so I’m starting to learn the rules. Pretty cool game, at least the parts I understand. You’ll have two sets of rules to learn, as the rules for girls lacrosse are very different than the rules for the boys.

That may be true But my fact may have come before that, or at least simultaneously. Don't know. He worked as a statistician for Glickman when he was in HS, but that was after he had already done some time as a ball boy.

I won't give away the answer, but one hint is that this "sports position" was where he first met his future mentor, Marty Glickman. Go for it Bison Knicks ball boy.

The March 31 games where HC was supposed to play URI were canceled because URI had a Covid outbreak. HC actually ended up with two last minute home games on that date versus Maine.

For those who skimmed the numbers, note that these are stats for all admitted students - many of whom will end up elsewhere. No idea what it will look like for the final class that enrolls at Villanova.

Greg Schiano Rutgers coach and a Bucknell alum might not be the must popular guy in Lewisburg right now No issues from anyone with Schiano. Sanders had already decided to leave for a grad degree, before he even talked to Rutgers. Schiano's son played for Bucknell the last four years and his daughter is going to play soccer for them starting in the fall. Both paid for by Schiano. He has also been a frequent donor. Schiano's wife, btw, is not only a Bucknell alum but also the daughter of Bison footballer Tom Mitchell, who played TE in the NFL for 12 seasons, including a couple of Super Bowls.

If you’re a Mass. resident, sending little Johnny to UMass for $16K a year doesn’t sound too bad. Is an HC education four times better than UMass? Doubt it. The 16K figure is only tuition. With everything included, it's about $31K. So the question is whether a HC education is a little better than twice as good.

College of Charleston has 12 in the portal. The only two returnees are a little-used soph from Australia and a PF from Nigeria who will be a grad student.

UConn's 2010 and 2011 teams were top 25. Roster included at least six future MLB players: George Springer, Matt Barnes, Scott Oberg, Nick Ahmed, Mike Olt, John Andreoli. Also a number who advanced fairly high in minor league ball.

They'd have to change the Turnpike Trophy to the Trolley Trophy. Both BU and NU should be in the same conference but why not bring Northeastern into the PL and spend a few bucks upgrading minor sports at HC by winning and selling more tickets to the revenue sports? If BU leaves we are a geographic outlier again in the PL with three schools (plus Georgetown) down near the Mason Dixon line and one in New England.🤔 Tennis for example could be fully funded at Holy Cross pretty easily.... Fully funded for tennis means eight scholarships on the women's side. That would require an endowment of about $12.5 Million. But Title IX likely would require a big contribution for men's sports as well. So maybe $20M+.

In this Covid season, the league came up with guidelines prior to the season as to how it would deal with certain situations. One of the guidelines was to make an effort to have every school play every opponent for at least one series. . As you pointed out, HC had not played Lehigh the entire season, and Bucknell had not played Lafayette the entire season. Thus it was almost certain they would make that scheduling change.

They save on football and baseball schollies. True, although savings on men's sports doesn't help much on the women's side. Title IX. Boston U also is at or near being fully funded in men's lax, women's lax, men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, women's tennis, as well as softball.

Do we know that BU does not give athletic aid for softball ? Their top 2 pitchers are way above the PL norm There has to be a reason they’re on top of the league basically every year I think he was being facetious. Boston U gives out a full complement of scholarships in softball. Significantly more than anyone else in the PL.

How much money would baseball have to raise? It would take about $4.7 million to endow three full scholarships.

Correct. All middies and cadets get full scholarships - free tuition, room and board. Te catch is that if you fail to graduate and serve you can be billed for all of that. (In years of the Obama administration, one football player failed to get the required time in the mile (He had been asked to gain weight to play the line for the Army team and he put on over 60 pounds.) When he missed the required time be a few seconds, he was told he would get a second chance. He dropped some weight and trained every day. Then when he can to be timed, he was told he could not have someone pace him. He again missed the time. The Military Academy ben told him he was "unfit" to serve even as an enlisted man (he had wanted to serve with his fellow cadets) To cap things off, he was presented with a bill for his 4 years at West Point. Last I heard his case was being appealed, but I never heard the final outcome. If a "scholarship" this one is truly unique. One clarification. A mid or cadet is allowed to opt out up until the start of their third year. If they choose to opt out, they are not responsible for any tuition. Once the third year begins, however, then they are on the hook for all of the future tuition if they don't finish. Once a mid/cadet graduates then they are responsible for five years of active duty plus some time in the reserves.

BU has been very fortunate in hiring both Rousell & Woodriff. That has not always been the case in the PL for most schools. although American (Corkery & Gebbia) was able to pull it off. One surprising thing about Gebbia is that she has had the exact same coaching staff for all eight years at American. With their success, it's somewhat surprising that none of them have moved up the ladder.

HC does not give any athletic aid to baseball players - do any of the non-military schools give any ? Bucknell has none. I am told that both Lehigh and Lafayette have a couple, but not more than that.

By my math, HC would be one over the max of 13 schollies had this kid accepted the offer. The choices are: 1) someone isn’t coming back 2) we made the offer contingent on a prep year or 3) we didn’t really make an offer. i’m sure it’s number two. As of two weeks ago he was committed to reclassifying and was being called a 2022 recruit. Even his coach called him a 2022. However in the last few weeks his recruiting really blew up and apparently he changed his mind and decided to sign now.

Jack Hemphill of BU just popped up in the portal. I thought he was already in there. I didn't realize he had 22 offers out of hs. He was in there. Entered March 15th. Not sure why they are showing his name a second time.

Something really weird going on here. I know that many teams have had multiple transfers, but 12! Granted, 5 are grad transfers, but still. One is Kamilla Cardoso, a 6-7 freshman who was the ACC DPOY and ROY. The best five of the transfers, other than Cardoso, have all found new homes at other ACC schools.

If Lowder struggled in the MAC, I doubt he would succeed with a team like BYU, a team ranked in the top 25 for much of last season, and in the NCAA tourney BYU ended up 20th in the final Pomeroy rankings. Eastern Michigan ended up 289th. I agree that he would struggle mightily at the BYU level. BYU, by the way, was ranked 13th in the nation the year before.

Yes. W&M to the PL is a total non-starter. Because the PL wouldn't do it or because W&M wouldn't do it? The latter.

Wouldn't giving up non medical redshirts be a big factor? That issue alone makes this a total non-starter. The academic index would also be a factor, although not as big.
