I see a small note on the schedule saying the game is going to be played at Auburn High School. I believe Auburn High School has a turf infield and grass outfield to my knowledge. goholycross.com/sports/baseball/scheduleDon't see too many D-1 baseball programs playing on high school fields. I think the outfield fence abuts a very busy street. Could be a good day for dent repair business.

According to the Fairfield board, the 60 th annual J.C.C. Classic, a schoolboy All-Star game between Ct and NJ boys and girls, is this Sunday in Bridgeport. Maybe HC should send someone. It is the longest running all-star hoops event in the country.

Thanks for doing this JC. Please ask him if he has a vision for HC basketball. Thanks again.

Probably looking for a house in the DC area. That would be my guess.

As if the price and the offers are going to change if he waited a few days. The only thing he can do to top that is bring a few players with him. Well it should be interesting to see the reaction Cooley gets when he brings his Hoyas to the AMP next season.

Lots of drama playing out in the Big East right now. Allegations of poaching a coach, debate on how ethical coaches are as in Cooley move and where does Rick Pitino fit in.

Someone posted on the Providence message board that Cooley’s house was posted on Zillow for 1.9 mil this morning. Let’s see if there is any truth to this. Providence AD said he was first approached yesterday by Georgetown.

Is this connected to the HC opening ? The Vermont board, surprise, surprise, has some interesting comments in the coaching carousel thread about the Holy Cross job. The second paragraph was a follow-up to earlier references to the TPTB at HC being highly motivated to get the men's program turned around and being willing to spend some significant coin to attract an established D1 coach. Whether the posters know what they are talking about remains to be seen.

VMI has another frosh in the portal we might kick the tires on. Tyler Houser a 6’9” forward who along with his fellow frosh mentioned above, made All Rookie Southern Conference. He was 3rd team all-state large schools in PA last year and had a 4.0 gpa in hs. He stuck with his commitment to VMI when they made a coaching change last Spring. VMI had a tough year this year, going 7-25. Houser averaged 11 points and 5 boards. He’s a big kid, 235 lbs., but it looks like he likes to shoot 3’s since he took 120 of them this past season. He hit 35%. Came across him on the Fairfield board. Colgate is one of 25 schools to have contacted Houser. Well at least Colgate didn’t get him. Houser commits to Delaware.

Hopefully these words from a poster on the Vermont board turn out to be prophetic:
Well, Georgetown can come in with more money. It has more NIL money (something Providence and schools in its situation are going to start lacking in unless they cultivate new collectives and stuff to pop up), and, Georgetown is a much higher-upside job than Providence will ever be. Cooley probably has done everything he can accomplish there.
And as I've said in relation to a historically significant Catholic school on a much smaller scale, don't underestimate school administrators who very badly want to correct how badly things have gotten and how much they'll spend or commit to getting someone that will at least bring them back to being a tournament team again, at minimum.

What I've heard from a couple of coaches through the grapevine today. Holy Cross is talking to Chris Bartley at WPI. Don't know how serious this is but they have reached out to him in the past. Most likely Bartley takes it back to WPI for more money. Would be a risky move for him if he was a serious candidate. If after 4 years at HC and things didn't work out then where do you go?
Why would Bartley consider a move to a lesser school? From a proud Engineer.

This is why it’s super important to hire a name coach ASAP. The portal can be used to fill out a roster. Possibly expect one or two more departures. A name would be irrelevant to me. A low profile proven winner is more than fine with me. Couldn't agree more.

I am not sure there is a "name coach" out there knocking on our door. Kit et al have to get this right. Screw it up and HC is stuck with someone for 4 years. If that happens it will further bury the program. I'll take the chance of kids transferring to get the right person.

You sure about that? Much easier to scam someone with fake tickets years ago vs. today. While the fees are ridiculous on Ticketmaster, Stubhub, SeatGeek, etc...you're not going to get ripped off. I've never been ripped off from one of the shady guys. I can buy one legal ticket then print out and sell 20 copies of that ticket a lot easier than I could make a realistic looking ticket. A little tougher today since more people use phones than actually printing tickets. Concerts now seem to be using a live bar code. Last time I was at Fenway (or Hart for that matter) I took a screen shot of my ticket and that got me in. If I can get in with that, I don't need much tech savvy to make multiple copies If you print out your tix and then make copies, I am going to assume with today's technology, only one person is going to pass go. I am sure the scanner is going to go beep, beep, that seat has already been scanned.

Colgate is one of 25 schools to have contacted Houser. Presuming HC is not one of them We have to hope that bigs such as Campbell and Houser are patient No, we aren't. On a separate note, if kids are proactively putting this info on Twitter, is it just this old timer or does that not smack of "look at who is interested in me." Even if adults running websites are reaching out to kids for info, the kids could say I'd rather not divulge that information.

Too bad we don't have a coach, yet. Two interesting portalers from New England: the big from Maine, (Campbell), and a point guard from Boston, (name escapes me but he's at VMI and played for Malden Catholic). Both are frosh. The Boston kid is 5'9" and averaged 10 ppg as a frosh. Not sure what Campbell did at ND. I think he is 6' 8". VMI has another frosh in the portal we might kick the tires on. Tyler Houser a 6’9” forward who along with his fellow frosh mentioned above, made All Rookie Southern Conference. He was 3rd team all-state large schools in PA last year and had a 4.0 gpa in hs.
