The job of college is to position a graduate/attendee for a good paying career. Sherman shouldn't complain what Stanford did for him. His football career worked out for him. That is irrelevant to my point: many college athletes cannot actually receive a real college education. He also did not complain about Stanford per se. In fact, he said he was lucky to go to Stanford because it was so unique compared to its peers - which is exactly his point. The video does a better job of capturing his full comments (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP0FYeO1N2A, the video stops after 3:10; it plays three times for some reason). This is ridiculous. The vast majority of college athletes go to class and graduate. The ones that don't never had any desire to do so in the first place.

According to LiveStats, which I cannot find anymore, Sluka’s QB rating in yesterday’s game was an unbelievable 269. Was that QB rating or efficiency? Either way great win. Let's enjoy it while it's here.

Student athletes acting like athletes........and colleges acting like profit centers..... Student athetes have always put the athletes part first. The transfer rules are just easier now. Players are doing nothing wrong.

I believe Holy Cross charges an application fee of $60. Do all other colleges have such a fee? I seem to recall that when I represented HC at college fairs I would hear of other colleges offering some freebies. I just went through application process with my daughter last year. $60 is about the norm. Some more, some less. Only freebie she got was Fordham.

Here is the email that was just sent out by the Athletic Dept. Good afternoon, I hope this email finds all of you well and excited to come back to Fitton Field. On behalf of the Athletic Department, we are excited to welcome you back to campus and look forward to your support as we take on Fordham followed by Bucknell. In preparation for your trip to campus for the game this Saturday and next Saturday, I wanted to provide some important information to note: All student-athletes will be permitted to allocate 2 tickets for friends/family members to attend. Name, relationship to student-athlete, cell phone number, and email must be completed. Parking will be available in the Hogan Campus Center/Luth Athletic Complex parking lot (Attached map to this email providing walkways to access Fitton Field) Tailgating will be strictly prohibited Gates will open 60 minutes prior to kick off Gate D (Gate closest to Freshman Field - Opposite end of scoreboard) - Will be the check in location for those on the student-athlete/coach/staff pass list We would encourage all attendees to utilize walkway path # 2 to access Gate D. There will be no-entry allowed into the stadium once you have exited Designated seating sections will be identified as follows for those who are on the pass list (Seats will be marked and will be socially distant): Home Team Seating Sections Sections: 4, 5, 6 & 7 Food/drink will not be available for purchase - Please be sure to prepare in advance. Bottled water/soda will be permitted to be brought in Universal mask policy will be strictly enforced There will be no-entry allowed into the stadium once you have exited Postgame - Student-athletes and family members must maintain a 30 foot distance. This is to help ensure the program's health and safety. We would ask that all fans safely exit the stadium following the conclusion of the game and make their way to their vehicles. We appreciate your cooperation in complying with all of the expectations above. While I understand there are a lot of protocols that must be followed, we cannot express enough how excited we are to welcome you back to Fitton. We certainly appreciate your support. Please be ready to be loud to support our team. Go Cross Go!!! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Thank you, Nick Thirty Foot Distance? Even Fauci thinks this is ridiculous.....

Woodstock Academy started to become a prep school basketball factory a couple of years ago. Between them and Putnam Science Academy lots of high-level basketball going through Northeast CT.
If I recall didn't Illinois back in the 80s hire a HS coach from Chicago to lure the city stars down-state? I think Michigan did the same during the Fab 5 years.
Happens a lot more I'm sure.

I'll disagree. I'd have no problem playing one of those two (UMass/UConn) every year.

It's hard for those who didn't watch him in his prime to understand the impact and popularity Marvelous Marvin Hagler had on the New England Sports scene. Especially since boxing has unfortunately fallen off the map.
He was right up there with Larry Bird, Roger Clemens, Cam Neely as a Boston Sport icon in the 80s. Lots of great memories watch him just beat the snot out of guys.
RIP

When you have a chance to hire a Hall of Fame coach and pass it up for somebody with no head coaching experience. The Pitino haters are now against winning basketball. They have watched to much winning the last 2 years it must be clogging their thinking. Oh wait. For me, there is no one, unambiguous "right" answer on Rick Pitino. The actions under his watch are exactly why HC declined to join the Big East. Given the issues the athletic department just endured under Bill Gibbons, I can't blame the decision makers for not wanting to take the known risk of going through that again. That's a tough comparison....Bill Gibbons and Rick Pitino.

I saw that only Division games matter for determining who represents the North and the South in the PL Championship so yesterday’s Colgate loss doesn’t help us. If anything, it could hurt us if Laf winds up winning the South Division as all games count for purposes of deciding who hosts the title game. PL format is absolutely ridiculous. It's a six-team league. How hard would it be to just play a 5-game round robin schedule? And the winner of the conference....well...wins the conference. Maybe I'm not thinking of the possibility of cancelled games... A five game round-robin would not be hard. It'd be very easy actually. But some leagues like to over-cautious the next....

One of the casualties of this entire Covid experience has been science. No surprise the powers that be cannot/will not follow the science regarding outdoor spectators. Following convenient science.

Becker's Worcester campus is in a residential neighborhood and a lot of their buildings are old houses. The value of these to private developers/owners will be high.

3 or 4 top 10 teams went down today along with 1 in the 10s. If this trend continues we *could* see HC enter the top 25 rankings this season providing they handle business. I think it will be tough to be ranked when the league is playing only 4 games. On the other hand this is the best collection of talent on the Hill in a long time.

Can Lehigh fans even make the trip? #erronthesafeside Lehigh I think has not decided yet. You can socially distance at a football game outside. #letsgetbacktonormal How about those that want to go to games can.... And those who want to stay home can do that....

Today’s Announcement from Gov. Baker: If public health data continues to tend positive, Baker said the state will move into Phase 4, Step 1 of the reopening plan on March 22, which would allow indoor and outdoor stadiums, arenas, and ballparks to reopen at 12 percent capacity. This would translate to Fitton being able to have up to 2800 spectators. If we're still at 12% capacity in the fall then Charlie Baker will have been run out of town.

Back to reality on this topic....
Charlie Baker yesterday said something to the effect of "stay tuned" when asked about fans at sporting events in the state. Nothing moves until he budges and with NY and NJ starting to allow fans both inside and out Baker will have no choice to allow them...or look like a complete fool.
Worcester will go along with what the Governor allows because they want as many people as allowed at Polar Park going to WooSox games.
Whether individual colleges allow it who knows.

When at Assumption Deonte Harris was one of the best college football players in New England. He was a pleasure to watch. I also believe the long snapper for Tampa Bay played for Chesney at Assumption.
