Working pretty hard at least. Up 23-16, 4:30 left in the half.

They have to do a better job guarding TJ Small; he was the leading scorer for Army in both games. Above all, if HC is going to take 30 3 pointers, they had better make more than 5 of them.

Was looking at the frosh minutes per team. If my math is correct, HC frosh played about 40.6% of the team's minutes; tops in the PL. Others: AU: 19.6% Army: 37.2% BU: 28.5% Bucknell: 4.7% Colgate: 17.5% Lafayette: 26.5% Lehigh: 27.9% Loyola: 6.3% Navy: 9.4% Odd that Loyola had the next to lowest reliance on frosh, yet finished last. As for Coach of the Year, most leagues might be prudent to select theirs say in May or June....after the transfer movement settles.Wut? Why? What difference does it make who comes or goes after the season is over and its achievement can be recognized? Not being totally serious here, but who comes and goes does make a difference. It's a big reason why Langel is COY imho. He was able to retain Records and Moffatt when they could have gone elsewhere, and Smith stayed as well.

I thought Caleb might be 3rd team, so that's impressive. Thought Nugent had an outside shot at the rookie team, but can't complain with 2 guys from the 9th seeded team making all league.

I sort of liked the short lived experiment from close to 20 years ago, when they split up the tournament into 2 league site pods (HC hosted one). I believe they played the quarters and semis at the 2 sites, then the highest overall seed hosted the final (I might not have this completely accurate). It at least gave off a bit of tournament vibe, while still rewarding regular season performance. Joe Knight dropped in 45 points against Colgate at the Hart during the 2005 PLT. Hart Center scoring record? That was an incredible performance by Knight; he was chucking up shots from everywhere. I think Jimmy McCaffrey has the Hart record, with 46 (and 15 assists) in a game against a very good Iona team. Think he was named SIs player of the week.

Probably a dumb question, but could it be just to give the winning team 1 extra hour for travel/prep for the quarterfinal?

Among a host of other things, they will really need Louth to be super energized to help out Caleb. Seniors in general really need to step up.

Its frustrating in that it always seems to be small chunks of these games where bad play does them in. Four point deficits become 15-16 point deficits in the blink of an eye. Its not like the team plays terribly from wire to wire. They just seem to have a tough time stopping the bleeding when things start to go wrong.
Could really use a defensive stopper like Derek Farkas - someone who just comes in and is relentless with on the ball pressure.

Hare may not be ready immediately, but I have far more confidence in Paulsen as a judge of prospects than that of Nelson. I wish I could like this comment more than just once!! You can't see it, but I liked on your behalf.

I'd like to see HC buy Rotmans and turn it into a 1)Crusader Sports Museum, and 2)some sort of football game day experience venue (haven't thought this part out). Maybe Crossports could lease some office space.

If Eric hadn't been adamant about finishing his degree in four years and walking with his classmates he wouldn't have come back from injury to play in a few last meaningless games for a losing team at the cost of a year of eligibility. If grad transfers were more of a thing back then he might have preserved his eligibility and sat out. Timing was serendipity. Eric lost a year as well- wasn't there something in his past that caused his year of prep school to count against his eligibility?
Don't remember anyone criticizing the young man for anything other than that. It was easy to see the potential. In MB's last game, HC was up 3 at Bucknell; Eric fouled a guy shooting w/under 20 seconds to go. They hit the shot and tied it up, Bucknell won in OT. Had he not done that, no OT....and OT is where Eric blew his knee out. Yes - he had the nerve to spend an extra year in high school/prep school to improve his academics (and no reminder needed that it was a coaches' approved rule). Given all of today's shenanigans with transfers, waivers and such, he got screwed - only played 2 1/2 years. He was on the receiving end of one of the better alley oop dunks ever seen at the Hart:

HC losing its way into a higher conference seems counterintuitive to me. Also, have any been following the transfer/NIL money chaos in big time professional college sports? RP's comments on the state of bball were truly worrisome. The Spring '24 portal is going to be a mad house. HC ain't going there, nor should it. HC plays on even playing field under the same guidelines & rules as other PL schools. Yet other schools have produced winning teams. Highly rated academic schools such as Colgate & Bucknell have had good teams. Why are these & other schools winning while HC playing under the same PL rules is consistently losing? What can we learn from these PL programs & others? With a program mired in years of mismanagement and losing, it is going to take time to develop a winning program. HC bball has been hard, very hard for HC faithful - players, students & alums. I understand the frustration. The program is not going to change direction overnight. Hiring DP, a successful PL coach seems like a good start, no? But it's gonna' take time for HC to show real, consistent improvement. Peace. I would say one lesson learned is: never, ever again hire someone who has never dealt with actual student athletes.

For every game where there is a crazy student section, there are about 50 others that resemble the Hart. All one has to do is check out replays on ESPN+.

Was the last HC tournament game at Army in March 2016? That might have been their best game of the year; ironically, the regular season that year ended with a loss at BU (where they looked dead in the water at that point). Does Eric Green have 1 month of eligibility?

He's playing for a new coach this year (Sundance Wicks) - in the few games I have browsed through he seems to be their backup point guard. At least they are winning now; maybe he can get to the dance.

I'm curious about MAC basketball. Just 15-20 years ago they were actually in the same ballpark as the A-10 and Missouri Valley. For whatever reason (not mass defections) they have slid quite a bit over the last decade.

I believe if Batch was in Colgate's rotation he'd be knocking down shots left and right.
