What also bothers me is Colgate is playing BC in hoop this year but BC won't play us.
I know this is technically out of Pine's and Carmody's hands...but it's just ridiculous imo...all these schools (GTown, Fordham, HC and BC) should be playing one another in both football and basketball on a fairly regulah basis.

Patrick is only looking at his perceived bottom line Ws 11 of first 12 at home but who will show up for that OOC schedule ? preparation for a tough Big East ? how many season ticket holders will not renew ? will like to see where that OOC ranks at Kenpom. 300s ?

Wonder if the BE will say anything ? This will damage their RPI or whatever it is currently called

Don't forget, Patrick learned at the feet of Big John. I guess St. Leo wasn't available.

Big John got big and skilled players. Gtown does not have them now

On top of this, 10 of the 11 games are at home. There should be NCAA rules against that. Median team is #321. hchoops--I think you are right: this must by 300+ as far as strength of OOC schedule.

I guess many have not seen Rutgers schedule. 14 of their first 15 games at home, and look at these cupcakes. Sad state of affairs in New Brunswick these days, topped off by paying Eastern Michigan $1 million to beat them last Saturday 16-13. Maybe Pikiel can do something with basketball eventually, but football looks like a lost cause. scarletknights.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball

The Rutgers opponents look like Murderers Row (median #255, or #267 if you include CCNY) compared to the Georgetown opponents.
For comparison-- HC's OOC schedule has a median team ranking of #157

If Pikiel can recruit there, a difficult task, he is a very good motivator and game coach.

Wonder if the BE will say anything ? This will damage their RPI or whatever it is currently called The worst thing for the Big East league RPI is for Georgetown to lose lots of games, not to beat bad teams. 50% of RPI is based on your opponent's winning percentage meaning that 50% of the effect of playing Georgetown on your RPI is what Georgetown's winning percentage is, regardless of the quality of team's that Georgetown played. Only 25% of RPI is based on your opponent's opponents winning percentage (aka the negative effect you get for Georgetown playing Coppin State and Coppin State having a low winning percentage.) Overall, this is exactly how bad teams should schedule for the good of the conference, because the most important thing for Creighton, Villanova, Seton Hall, etc. is for Georgetown to have a high winning percentage.

While removing extraneous information I deleted the wrong portion of KY's post. I was referring to the 10 out of 11 at home - which I do not think is that unusual. For the record, I do not think that most majors strive to have more low quality cupcakes than the Hostess Overstock Outlet Store I fixed the quote portion of my original post

this absolutely embarrassing attempt at amassing wins against college basketball's bottom-feeders aside, georgetown won't be able to hide ewing's complete lack of experience as a head coach at any level and any college coaching experience at any level for very long. he may surprise me, but i see this head coach decision setting georgetown back even further to a degree that could take years (or an experienced successor who could win right away) to remedy. not that i'll be losing much sleep over this likely scenario, of course.

If BC scheduled Colgate because they see them as less of a "threat" now and in in the future, that could explain BC scheduling of them ahead of HC.
