Would like to see Copeland get some run in upcoming games. Has some athletic ability. KC 6man off the bench? He had another 1 rebound game.
To show how shooting can be overrated. Some scoffed when I suggested AsT could not shoot as well as his brother. AaT starts for Butler and has shot the most FT on the team. He shoots 48% from the line. I guess he must be seen as very valuable in other ways.

Come to think of it. Bill Carmody is lucky if his offense gets two back door layups per game. Also, they could push a little more on long rebound misses by the other team. Lastly they need to play both big guys together. Starting lineup should be Green, Benzan, Niego, Faw and Floyd. Put Charles on the bench and let him get his confidence back. Would that be the confidence he again showed in the second half yesterday?

Btw, KC showed he still has his move to the hoop as he used it to good effect yesterday. He is not 100%, but he is still talented and he is getting stronger in his play.

PS: Did this team that “can’t rebound” match LaSalle on the boards yesterday?

efg not sure how you give Carmody pass for the sophomore recruiting class. He was already on the job for a year at that time and we lost our top four targets Gasperini, Brodeur, Andree and Nelson three of which went to league rivals. In addition we lost a recruit who had already committed and ended up with the current sophomores. I will agree he was under the gun when he arrived with Hahn leaving and Proctor decommitting and did well getting Charles and Zignorski although I expected more than we have gotten to date from MZ who was an A-10 recruit. The current group looks to have a lot of potential and hopefully develop as we all hope.

So he’s 6-3? There’s nothing wrong with a 6-3 guard He doesn't look that much bigger than the two midgets we're running out there. And the program needs a shooter who can shoot over guys. That's not a knock on Butler per se....hope he has a great career. Noticeably taller than Zignorski who's noticeably taller than the other guards. 6'5" is a stretch. About the same as LeSann

Carmody has acknowledged that he needs to find a way to get MF and JF on the floor together. Maybe he's waiting to see if Jack Stevens can get healthy and serve as Jehyve's backup. Jehyve started the season in foul trouble. He has been better lately. Faw has been averaging almost 10 fouls per 40 minutes. Without a realistic 3rd option, it's a gamble to have Faw and Floyd spend much time together. If Floyd continues to keep his fouls under control or Stevens emerges an a realistic option, a Faw/Floyd combo might become an option

I didn’t think I was giving a pass, but suggested the jury was out. I haven’t seen WPor JS play and I am willing to wait on JS until this time next year and see if and how he develops. If he contributes in a meaningful way then yes I would give a pass, and if not it would be fair to say it fell short.

This comment is patently ridiculous on so many levels.
First, how are PB and CG "midgets?" They tower over our two prior pgs. I've been next to all 4. PB and CG are legitimate heights and have not been through the famous elongator as their predecessors were. So, they have conservatively 2-3 inches on their predecessors. Even some of the better teams on our schedule are starting sub-6' guards.
Now AB may very well not be 6' 5" but he is probably not off by an inch - 1.5 inches. His height is not the issue that I have and comparatively speaking, he is the closest we come to a player with a "Superman" body. I just wish we could see him drain some long shots and learn the Carmody system quicker. I have not given up on any of the frosh yet. Waaaay too early for that.

He was already on the job for a year at that time and we lost our top four targets Gasperini, Brodeur, Andree and Nelson three of which went to league rivals. Another big we offered was Max Mahoney (6-8, 235), who ended up at BU. Unlike Gasperini and Andree, Mahoney has limited shooting range, but has looked like the sort of bruising force in the paint and on the glass that would be nice to have here. In fairness, Brodeur was never going to come here, once Penn made him a top target.

Without a realistic 3rd option, it's a gamble to have Faw and Floyd spend much time together. A big part of Faw's fouling problem is that he cannot defensively handle big guys in the match-up, and is not quick enough to handle many 4s in that defense either. A straight zone would reduce his need to "man-up," likely reduce his fouls, and significantly improve the rebounding. And just to re-iterate . . . It was Carmody himself who said in the Albany post-game that he needed to find a way to get JF and MF on the floor together.

The only time the 1-3-1 has worked well in Carmody's time here was during the PLT in 2016 with Eric Green running the baseline - and that's the main reason why we had the run in the PLT. Need somebody with speed, length, and defensive instinct - there was nobody last season and after six games this year, I don't see anybody on the roster who combines those attributes. Either the players are going to learn to play the match-up well enough in time, or would hope the coaches would be willing to try a more vanilla-flavored, straight-up zone that gives us more persistent presence in the paint. Biggest beneficiary of that change would be Faw, who I could see getting 20-25 minutes and averaging 8-10 ppg and 5 rpg right away, the main weakness of the 2-3, vanilla or otherwise, is in the middle, paint shots galore. The 1-3-1 has not been good, but the freshmen are adjusting to 2 complex defenses, and a complex offense that has not been fully implemented because of our youth. the second half today was an improvement against a talented opponent There is still plenty of capacity for the kids to get into the system this season. Starting in a couple of weeks the team will be in a period when they'll have their best practices of the year. I refrain from judgments on the season until the tail end of January. If we see marked improvement during the beginning of January, there might be call for cautious optimism. Otherwise what we've seen is what we've got

Unfortunately he has been out with an injury the last two weeks, which has almost certainly cost Loyola a couple of games.
