We shot better because we had much better looks from porous Army defense. kc benched because immediate and horrible turnover Faw, Niego and Butler saw fewer minutes because of defensive liabilities. imho GO CROSS GO1!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You posted about KC bring benched. The stats show he played for 32 minutes. Which was it? (BTW being subbed for is not the same as being "benched", is it? If that were the case, then wasn't every HC Player in the game "benched" at some point?) Did you see the game. He was “pulled”

1. No...could not watch during a K of C meeting. 2. Pulled makes more sense than "benched." I have always thought that meant the "benched" player did not return. That may just have been my misunderstanding. In any case, it seems to have worked and if he becomes more aggressive as a result, I am all for it.

As has been posted a couple of times already, Carmody sent him a message quickly, after 2 minutes, if you don't shoot you might as well sit here next to me

MVP of game for HC was Army coach Jimmy Allen, how could anyone play man to man against us if you did any scouting at all. Waited till they had a 20 point deficit before going into a zone, then game changed completely. Then at end of game despite numerous opportunities didn't foul Floyd who for some reason Carmody left on the floor when it was obvious Army had to foul. Coaches play what they believe is their best D Obviously Army had success with man d all year. Perhaps he should have changed earlier. Ddidn’t we get open 3s vs both defenses ? We just missed them in the second half. Maybe the reason for leaving JF in is that he is by far our best defensive rebounder. Pretty important at the end. Did we try to keep the ball away from him at the offensive end ?

Looked to me like Army switched back to mostly man in the 2nd half, and did a better job of it obviously

Jen Toland was covering the Bentley womens game where their coach, Barbara Stevens - a Worcester local - was coaching for, and got, her 1000 career win.

Down the stretch Charles took charge by driving to the hoop on a few occasions. We haven't seen much of that from him. Need more of that from him
I don't think Floyd came out in the second half. Faw was in his warm-up shirt for the whole 2nd half

Thought our low post double team D last night was very effective. KC is very quick at doubling up the guy with the ball

Hoops you are right coaches don't like to be forced out of their base defense, I guess he has to be given some credit for changing, don't think it was just a coincidence that game changed as soon as Army went zone, should be interesting to see what he does next time. As far as JF concerned we had the ball Army had to foul defensive rebounding not a concern at that point. Once foul committed could sub him back in for defense. Army should have just held him off the ball to force a foul call not smart coaching.

Crazy that we score basically in a half what we score in a full game, sometimes... inconsistency is maddening. The fact that the team can play, and play well, but doesn't do it all of the time is simultaneously encouraging and frustrating. How do we keep that level of success steady?

What an awful first sentence to the game recap:
"The Holy Cross men’s basketball team jumped all over visiting Army Wednesday night, but instead of whooping it up on the bench and celebrating as the clock ticked down, the Crusaders’ big-time players were called upon to make big-time plays in the closing moments to preserve a 70-66 win over the Black Knights at the Hart Center."

Weather or no weather, nobody is going to go these games....even if we were 13-5, there wouldn't be a heck of a lot more there. There's just zero interest in Patriot League basketball in general....to think we can develop a following playing in this league is the height of delusional thinking. I agree. Their is no excitement for people watching them play Loyola, Colgate, American, Lafayette. They should try to join the Big East. That would be great to watch them play ST Johns, Georgetown, Providence.

You have a better chance of hitting the lottery and getting zapped by lightning on the same day that you do of the Big East offering a spot to HC ever again.
You're apparently young. When HC had the opportunity to do so, they said no thanks.

Yes, Very young. I know they turned it down. That was the old Big East. This is the new Big East. If you think the Big East is to much of a stretch fine. But they need to join a different conference. The Patriot League stinks and has no excitement. It also attracts very few good players.
