Loyola(MD) is 7-16...they are not good....any win on the road is nice, agreed.
That being said, let's not pretend we just beat a solid team...we didn't.

JF is a beast in the paint, intimidating all penetrators and finishing all chances on offensive end, completely dominated Gregory. Jehyve has made 30 of his last 34 shots from the field - still having trouble getting my head around that. His domination of Gregory today puts him squarely on the 2nd-team all-PL at this point, with a realistic shot at 1st team. Has to be in the conversation for all-defensive team, too. An extraordinary story, still unfo lding.

Getting the 6th seed, avoiding the play-in and traveling to Colgate for the quarters, seems like a great scenario; IF we can get there.

At this point, any win is a good win. Did what we had to do against a weaker team on the road.

Nice win today, but beating up on awful teams doesn’t exactly signal meaningful progress for the long term. Our top 2 wins this year are against #184 and #207, and then the next best win is against #264. If beating #303 signals progrsss, that says a lot more about how far we’ve fallen than where we’re going. Didn't we win by 16 points on the road? I think a lot of objective observers would regard that as a sign of progress being made. I'll tell you something that impresses me: in each of the last four games we have made at least 2/3rds of our two pointers: 16/24 then 24/29 then 17/24 then 22/33. So we're hitting our twos at .718 in the last four games. I'll save you some time on your reply as you'll likely want to say that "it's all due to JF". So what if it was? But, in fact, the rest of the team has hit @ .645 on twos in the last four games. I see progress--I think you are in the minority in failing to see it. 297 - 304 - 266 - 309 The 2FG defense rankings of the last 4 opponents. Not all that hard to show progress against opponents like that. I think I’m just in the minority of objective people who are still watching and paying attention to games, and not just in desperation mode to try and feel good about the program. We’re 8-15 and our best win since the 2nd game of the year on November 16th was against a #207 Army team whose best win is against #211 UMBC.

Hard to post January wins against good teams when conference you play in is comprised of low-ranked stiffs except for one school. Good point. We have lost 6 of 11 games against those stiffs this year.

Really nice wire to wire effort today. Looks like Last game was not an aberration BC has shortened bench with starters playing 30+ plus minutes again. JF is a beast in the paint, intimidating all penetrators and finishing all chances on offensive end, completely dominated Gregory. Grandison had a fantastic game and Green was very good. Charles is playing better but not hitting outside shot at all, Butler had a solid game. Need to win Navy game at home as have a tough three game stretch after that with BU and Army away and Bucknell at home. RGS you have those purple glasses on again if you think Kostecka would not be a factor on this team. He's averaging 11 points 4 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals a game a very solid player who would get plenty of minutes on this team. He would see playing time. I would not start him ahead of our current top 5...no glasses needed. He is good, but NOT The game changer that some critics said he would be and he is not, thus far, someone we cannot cope with. The announcers did say that Kostecka seemed to get especially fired up for games against HC. As long as the result keeps coming out this way, I have no problem with that.

If this is a "good win"....God help us all.... Any win leading from tip to final whistle (especially on an away court) is a good win. You may not need God's help, but perhaps some glasses.

Solid road win for where our program is at this point, which is mired in no-man's-land in a league with one good team in it. But we've won 4 out of 6 and two of our last three on the road. Our in-season rate of improvement has proven to have been greater than the competition over the last few games, which is a good thing. I have a feeling we are going to take care of business against Navy at home before two road games in which we'll be underdogs against BU and Army. Our performance in those two games will have big ramifications for where we fall in the PL standings come season's end.

As much as I have loved watching this team come together, I see our game Wednesday as a toss-up...unless HC gets an early lead, we cut down on turnovers (as in lazy passes leading to opponent layups), and our rebounding continues to improve. If we get those things together, and our injured players continue to improve, this could be a nice win! If the refs give Navy too many "thank you for your service" calls, especially against JF, we could be in trouble.

Getting hard to deny that there's progress being made here. Good to see. This isn't about quality of opposition. This is about playing much better ball than we were a month ago. Deny that if you want, it only underscores your bias.

Broken record but we are nevah getting appreciably bettah playing in this ferkukta league....school has a decision to make (which they probably have already made) stay in the PL and admit kids who want to play D1 in minor sports or ditch the PL and get serious about men's hoop ...it's really that simple.

In case you missed it, I just checked the schedule, Holy Cross DID WIN!! In the interest of logic I am compelled to point out that two facts can be correct at the same time. (The fact that Loyola is awful is not contradicted by the fact that Holy Cross did win....heck, the fact that Holy Cross is pretty awful this year is not contradicted by the win over Loyola). Beyond that, this portion of the season is one where beating the worst of the PL teams, fighting for splits with the mediocre PL teams, and hoping for an upset against the best PL team is the most we can plan for given our general talent level. On another note, I saw all of the St John's v Duke upset yesterday (the Johnnies won) and have to say our JF would have held his own in that game. As odd as it is I can't think of another PL player with the combined size, speed and athleticism (and very smart shot selection) who could fit in seamlessly. Kudos to his recruiter and the guys who have worked with him (and to JF for the hard work).

RGS I don't think anyone on this board suggested Kostecka was a star/game changing recruit, although when compared to who we replaced him with he looks exceptional, but he is a very solid all around player who would have helped this team and last years team tremendously. You do realize that his stats this year would make him our 2nd leading scorer and rebounder and beside JF he would be our best defender, so I think he would start for this team. By the way if you consider getting 12 of his 14 points in the first 30 minutes as getting most of his points late I guess you're right.

For those of you who put aside thoughts of past decisions, league affiliations, and coaching choices to support the kids who chose HC - I take a big swig of grape Kool Aid to commend you (ok, it's pomegranate juice; good for my PSA levels)!
