About 17 people care....can we please get into a league were people care? I agree, with you on the league change. But we have to play who's in front of us and the only way to do that is Win and be successful in the league we are. What league do you propose we go to?

Could they even play at the Hart Center if they joined the Big East or would it have to be DCU?

We could be in the Big East tomorrow....TPTB didn't want it...sad....I think we will eventually go Big East but it will take a lot of administration swallowing bittah pills in the process....sadly, 40 years wasted

Don't despair....the Patriot League, of 400 people attending most games, won't be Holy Cross' future thankfully

If they joined the Big East they would have to play at the DCU right? I don't love the Patriot league. But why would the Big East take Holy Cross?

Big East banter is delusional. Informed discussion about potential options and pathways for the future of HC basketball and athletics, is not. "Big East or bust" -- come on, use your head for a second. Holy Cross has no basketball history with anyone in the league aside from Providence. UConn (sadly) and BC are both out that door, in case you didn't notice. Not to mention, we would be NOWHERE on the league's radar for admission. IF the league ever felt the need to add new members, there are bigger schools with stronger programs AND recent success, in larger college sports markets, and with far less academic hurtles.
It's not 1947, 1979 or 1987 anymore -- the landscape has changed. That doesn't mean as fans and supporters of the school that we should stomp our feet and refuse to enjoy the student-athlete product on the floor at the level we play at now, which is still decent Division I basketball and sometimes even better than that. Our basketball players are still phenomenal young athletes so accomplished in high school that they were among or possibly the best in their leagues, counties and states. Many are the best to have ever played at their respective high schools. Keep that in perspective.
Want to debate whether we should join the MAAC and dump the hinterlands of PA in favor of a Catholic, more urban-centric conference? Sure, that's cool. Maybe the CAA where we can get exposure up and down the East Coast while simultaneously moving up the latter in football? OK. Maybe dominating the PL for a stretch and pining for an A-10 gig? Sounds like a plausible long-term plan with the Luth upgrades and ambition of the current admin (from what others have said). Who knows -- maybe Big East expansion and a raid of the Atlantic 10 one day would open up a spot for us there. All speculation that shouldn't stop anyone from enjoying our current Division I backdrop.

Great performance by the boys! Was a bit surprised that they didn’t give Butler the ball at the end of regulation and OT. He was feeling it, and was ale to get to the FL. I understand why you give it to a veteran, and there would be a lot of second guessing! It’s been fun watching this team come together over the past few weeks. I thought they would be better record wise at this point, but we have to remember that none of our players who are getting the majority of playing time had played this type of offense, nor probably these matchup defenses ever before this season began. They just played toe to toe with the leaue’s best and have had a pretty good three game run. While I can’t wait for what next year will bring, this season may be far from over!

The Atlantic 10 would be a perfect fit for Holy Cross, teams like Umass, LaSalle, URI etc. Even the MAAC would be better with Manhattan, Siena, Niagara & Canisius, Fairfield etc.

'87:
Since you made reference to me in an earlier post, I feel compelled to reply this 1 time: You stated that I was a fan of the Patriot League. I've stated this before, but will say it again. I am NOT a fan of the Patriot League; rather, I am a fan of HOLY CROSS BASKETBALL. There is a difference, a big difference.
I've always been respectful of your love for HC athletics, and have always supported your right to voice your opinion. But, by constantly hijacking game threads to do nothing but voice your opinion about where you think the program should be, you, imho, are not giving those who support the current program the same respect. It's just not right. If Dean would allow it, I would fully be in favor of sticking a thread right at the top of this forum to discuss the Big East, HC's glorious history, and to slam the PL. But I respectfully ask you to leave these game threads alone. Many people criticize BBC (and I disagree with a lot of his opinions), but at least he discusses the games at hand. Yesterday, my guess is at least 95% of the 1,818 at the game (and others watching online) thought it was a wonderfully contested, hard fought game, with plenty of excitement. Please let us have the opportunity to discuss the game afterwards.
Thanks, NAD

Well said, Dave. In you, HC has no better fan. I can't remember you getting this worked up in the past (OK, perhaps at Brown ) so this time you must have reached a boiling point. I compliment you on your self-control and I know HC is better for having your support.

Great post NAD! Thanks for articulating so well what many of us believe.
And to all others, I have blocked a few of our knucklehead posters (especially HC87) - I would appreciate it if your responses to the inanane posts by him and other knuckleheads are not quoted. I could care less what they say and dialogue without them is just fine by me.

I understand why you give it to a veteran, and there would be a lot of second guessing! Maybe a bad decision by Pat at the end, but he gets a lot of credit for the way this team has responded since Navy. Whether in the players-only meeting or on the court, he and Butler seemed to have taken charge emotionally. Benzan was the only guy who played all 45 minutes yesterday - in the last three games, he's logged a total of 97 minutes, running the show offensively, without a single turnover, 15-18 FTs while almost everybody else has struggled at the line. His increased presence has a lot to do with what we're seeing on court now.
