Massey makes HC a 6 point favorite at the Hart on Wednesday (64-58) with a 69% chance for the win. I think it could be more, but that is those darn purple glasses.

Looks like a shorter bench for AU than for HC. Looking at the last game's box score...the Crusader "Magnificent 7" is now an "Elite 8"

I saw a tee shirt with a quote on it that could well apply to this Crusader team:"We may not always win, but, we always fight"Does anyone else feel this fit this HC hoops team? This group of talented individuals seems well on its way to become a true "Band of Brothers." It is a great joy to watch this happen (even if my lenses are purple - just to save some posts ).

How similar are the versions of the Princeton Offense that both teams run?

I saw a tee shirt with a quote on it that could well apply to this Crusader team:"We may not always win, but, we always fight" AB represents that attitude in spades for this team. Maybe others took note of a play during yesterday's game when Avi Toomer saved a ball out of bounds by slamming it into Butler's chest. Austin responded with a "Do not mess with me" stare-down that exemplifies the way the group has stepped up since the players-only meeting ten days ago. Along with Benzan, he's become an emotional leader, a quality the rest of the guys are starting to feed off. Need to play with a continued sense of urgency Wednesday.

I don't want to see us struggle, but ultimate finally win this next game (of course, no fan does). By that, I mean I think we need to "impose our will" on American---get off to a fast start and pull away so we can build even more confidence in the team, fine tune the offense and defense, give the bench players more minutes on the floor. We beat American by 3 in DC in the first game, but that was, I think, a different Crusader squad than what we have seen on the floor in 4 of the last 5 games. We had 19 turnovers in that game (AU had 13 steals!) and I'd like to see that in single digits vs AU. Yes, there's no such thing as a bad win, but I think we need a big, easy win.

At 3-13 in the league, 6-21 overall, they may have packed it in. Have to think Brennan is gone.

At 3-13 in the league, 6-21 overall, they may have packed it in. Have to think Brennan is gone. I disagree, both on them packing it in and on Brennan being gone (unless there is another run of transfers and worse). They have had an incredible run of injuries this year - losing All-PL candidate 6-10 Mark Gasperini for the year, plus having two other big men miss long periods of time with concussions. (And that is on top of the four transfers of course.) But despite the injuries, and playing with a 6-5 1/2 center in many games, they have been competitive in many games. In addition to their three PL wins, they have six other games where they lost by 5 or less - with lack of depth and big men likely the culprits. They have played well their last three games, so I don't see any signs of packing it in. As for Brennan, his new contract extended him out to 2020. Unless there is a very cheap buyout - which I doubt - I don't see AU eating two years of his contract. One more bad year, however, and I think he is in big trouble.

GG Smith for sure. Allen hasn't done well so far, but he has been on the job less than two years and has had, at best, one recruiting class, so he will likely have 2-3 more years to prove himself.

Coaching used to be a strength in this league not so much anymore.

The BU board, at least, has seen enough - busily compiling a list of possible replacements for Jones.

Coaching used to be a strength in this league not so much anymore. You think so? Willard, Flannery, and Jones. Who else do you think was a strong coach during this era or before? Here are some notable names: Dave Paulsen, Billy Lange, Emmett Davis, Billy Taylor, Zack Spiker, Jim Crews, FCMB, FCSK. The preceding are the more recent ones. Haven't gone back to the 90s.

I'd like to see a good solid game from the Cross on Wednesday..Offfense, defense, free throw shooting, rebounding...the whole ball of wax! Give the players a solid confidence booster...and I'd love to see JF explode...and I think he is nearing that point, getting more and more confident each night out!
(but I'd take a 1 point win!!)

So if Nick Macarchuk IV (or III) gets in, will the old timers start chanting "Sit Down Nick!"?

nice summary from AU blogger www.auhoopspodcast.com/posts/2018/2/19/patriot-league-power-rankings-one-week-to-play7. Holy Cross (7-9, -4.5 adj EM) No team seemingly faces more controversy and harsher critics than the Crusaders, who suspended three players — including Karl Charles — and yet still nearly knocked off Bucknell Saturday. Jehyve Floyd has locked up PL defensive player of the year, and I think there's a strong case for him being a first-team player who has led Holy Cross to wins in six of its last 10 with two losses to Bucknell, a loss to Navy and a loss to Lehigh. In other words, the Floyd-led Crusaders are a top-half-of-the-conference team despite being horrific from 3 (29.1%), getting no offensive boards (18.7%) and having the 337th youngest team in Division 1. Floyd has 36 blocks over the last 10 games, including six games with four or more rejections. That's scary.

I don't think any team wants to face the 'Saders in the PL playoffs.....They have become a fun team to watch, FLoyd, Butler and Grandi all have a flair for the dramatic..

I would be shocked if Jehyve wasn't on the all-defensive team, but believe Foulland is still the favorite to repeat as Defensive PoY. 1st-team all-PL would be fabulous, but a long-shot at this point - 2nd-team should be a no-brainer. In any event, his transformation into an elite player has been joyful to watch.
