If Fouland beats out JF for defensive player of the year it will be strictly based on reputation not results. In league play JF is averaging a full block per game more than Fouland and while I haven't seen all that many of Foulands games there is no way he can be more disruptive or intimidating in the paint than JF has been.

The BU board, at least, has seen enough - busily compiling a list of possible replacements for Jones. Their attendance on their board must be greater than at the games True. No reason why a D1 school in Boston should have such poor student support. I don’t think this is the coach’s fault though.

TOP SUBS: 02 - Stacy Beckton Jr......G (Fr, 6'4" 171) 4 ppg / 1 rpg / 1 apg / 13 mpg 03 - James Washington..G (Jr, 6'1" 160) 2 ppg / 1 rpg / .3 apg / 12 mpg
Looks like a shorter bench for AU than for HC. Looking at the last game's box score...the Crusader "Magnificent 7" is now an "Elite 8"
A couple of small corrections: Jesse Little (C, Fr, 6-11, 178) is playing a lot and occasionally starting depending on matchups. My guess is we'll use him more tomorrow against y'all rather than have Sam, who's been playing center for us frequently, try and guard Floyd. I'd also expect to see Matt Cimino (F, Jr, 6-10, 212) in there against Floyd, though he hasn't played much lately. James Washington hasn't played the last seven games for unspecific reasons other than "a violation of team rules." AU plays very little pure Princeton these days, though there are some actions that remain in the offense. A lot more pick and roll with either Sa'eed or Larry on the ball. We actually do shoot the ball better this year (what we don't do well is defend!), so p/r makes sense with more improved shooting on the floor. As for Brennan, there are many in the fan base who want him gone, but I'd be surprised--not just because of his contract, but because of the insane number of injuries we've had this season. It starts with Gasperini, an all-rookie PL selection last year, of course. He was the only legit big we had coming into the season and he had had a great summer changing his body and getting stronger. There's just no one else on the team who could do what we expected him to do in the paint. But in addition to him, we've missed 40 other man-games this season for different reasons. Freshman Drew LaMont, who was in the rotation during the OOC and first half of PL play, has missed the last 12 games following a concussion. Little missed six games following a concussion. Marvin Bragg missed three games following a concussion. Sam missed two games following a concussion. Washington has, as noted above, missed the last seven. And Beckton wasn't eligible until the start of PL play, missing 10 of the 11 OOC games. Add Gasperini, and that's 67 man-games lost this season with two regular season games left to play. Or: with all the injuries and without Washington, we currently have three scholarship players available off the bench, which is why all the starters are playing huge minutes. We have been competitive in most every PL game since getting blown out by Bucknell in the conference opener. In the last four, we've lost by three at Loyola, by two in overtime to Lehigh (the hottest team in the league), beat Boston U (for the second time this year) and lost by five at Lafayette despite shooting 57 percent from the floor, 50 on threes (11 of 22) and putting up 85 points. I told you we're not a good defensive team (!).

NJJ maybe you guys should be wearing helmets at practice, I've never heard of a basketball team having so many concussions. Does anyone know if Gasperini is going to be able to continue his career?

NJJ maybe you guys should be wearing helmets at practice, I've never heard of a basketball team having so many concussions. Does anyone know if Gasperini is going to be able to continue his career? I've been following this team for more than 30 years, and I've never seen anything remotely close to the injuries we've had this season. I can't recall any basketball team that's had FIVE players miss time with concussions in one year (and, again, that's in addition to Beckton being out almost all of first semester and James being out almost all of second semester. And I didn't even mention another scholarship player, Max Hoekstra, decided in September (!) to go back home to the Netherlands. So we didn't get a minute out of two scholarship players this season (Gasperini/Hoekstra), have had three others miss significant time for various reasons (Beckton/LaMont/Washington) and had three others (Little/Bragg/Iorio) miss at least two games apiece due to concussion. I get that some people are down on Brennan, but my point has been it's impossible to fairly judge him this season when he's had less than half a team to coach much of the year, not to mention playing five freshmen (though, also in fairness, that wouldn't have been the case had we not had four transfers after last season). No definitive word on Mark for next season, though he has been able to at least sit on the bench the last several games, which he wasn't able to do for the first two months after the concussion. We are hopeful. We do have a freshman big coming in from New York state next year that was going to play right away anyway, but might have to play even more than we expected if Mark is limited or not able to go.

We are hopeful. The problem with concussions, of course, is that you never know. A player can seemingly be recovered and then the symptoms can recur with the smallest contact, or even no contact. Bucknell had two players (one male, one female) have to give up basketball over the past couple of years. In both cases, it looked like they were going to be able to play again and then problems recurred. Hopefully Gasperini will be healthy going forward.

Anybody know if we're recouping a scholarship for Perkins? I am not aware of anything official being said that would suggest that Perkins will not be able to play next year. I'd have to say "no"

nice summary from AU blogger www.auhoopspodcast.com/posts/2018/2/19/patriot-league-power-rankings-one-week-to-play7. Holy Cross (7-9, -4.5 adj EM) No team seemingly faces more controversy and harsher critics than the Crusaders, who suspended three players — including Karl Charles — and yet still nearly knocked off Bucknell Saturday. Jehyve Floyd has locked up PL defensive player of the year, and I think there's a strong case for him being a first-team player who has led Holy Cross to wins in six of its last 10 with two losses to Bucknell, a loss to Navy and a loss to Lehigh. In other words, the Floyd-led Crusaders are a top-half-of-the-conference team despite being horrific from 3 (29.1%), getting no offensive boards (18.7%) and having the 337th youngest team in Division 1. Floyd has 36 blocks over the last 10 games, including six games with four or more rejections. That's scary. Hopefully this doesn't devolve into a discussion on the state of HC bball (it probably will), but who was the last HC player to be 1st team all-PL?

Neither team providing resistance.
American getting way too many wide open looks.

HALF - AU, 38-31. American has taken 60% of its shots from deep, made 53% of them. Jehyve with two points and same number of TOs as shots..

Things should gravitate towards the mean in second half and Crusaders should prevail but we have to step it up. We need more than 2 points a half from Jehyve...
Was out to dinner and missed most of it---
