Just can't wait for the nightly updates and box score recaps from the Fightining Illini or the Spartans that we'll be subject to from those who have nothing better to do. Then are you ready for the reports on Mitch Hahn's dominating the Omaha YMCA adult league? Actually, they will be about his play in the German Pro League where he will be playing for the Kirchheim Knights

Geez.......if people aren't interested they don't have to read the posts. Now, I fully admit I don't have a life, but still.......

One door closes with his departure, but another opens for someone on the roster.

A more balanced roster, an energetic young coach, more playing time for current young team members (only one senior), a great two year window for junior led team. Let's go!

Best wishes to Jacob. Now we can all do what I suspect Coach Nelson and staff did weeks ago which is to move on.

Sounds like I’m in the minority here, but I’m interested in following how JG does at Illinois ( realizing, that’s 14 months away).
Hopefully that doesn’t mean I have an agenda.

I’m also interested in how he fares. Not going to watch a lot of Illinois games but I will check the team stats a few times during the season just out of curiosity. I suspect he’ll be a 12-15 minute guy off the bench.

I think he had a better future staying at HC and is making a mistake but as always, time will tell. I will gladly take 4 years of a more aggressive player than 2 more of JG. I wish him well.

Good for Jacob, if that's what he wants, only time will tell if he made the right decision! Thank you for the memories and best of luck in the future! ! I'm sure that Coach Nelson already has several options lined up, probably having known for some time that JG was moving on....

The trend of under-recruited kids playing well for low-mid majors and moving on to P5 schools as transfers has finally bit HC - was bound to happen - I say too bad and hope it doesn’t happen again any time soon

Certainly hurts the chances across the board of David beating Goliath in the big dance.

If really good players are happy where they are, they’ll stay and have just as much of a chance of realizing their pro dreams with a strong degree in hand. See McCollum, CJ.

I suspect he’ll be a 12-15 minute guy off the bench. I give less than a rat's what he does, but there is a curious bit of deja vu at work here. Duncan Robinson led Phillips Exeter to the Class A NEPSAC championship in 2013, and was named MVP of the tournament. He went to Williams for a year, then transferred to the Big Ten (Michigan) where he enjoyed some success as a role player.
Grandison led Phillips Exeter to the Class A championship in 2017, was named MVP of the tournament, and now is transferring to the Big Ten.

My money is on him averaging a fraction of the time and production that he had for us last year. I loved watching him play on the nights that he showed up, but found those other nights to be very frustrating. Good luck to him. I can’t imagine that his time in orange will be as fruitful or as satisfying as if he had stayed in purple. Time will tell. We move forward, and I like how our future is shaping up. Go Cross Go!

Good luck to Grandy. Earning a FULL SCHOLARSHIP to play in the BiG must be a dream come true.
Off topic here but what is wrong with Illinois program? Back when I was in high school they were just as prominent a program as UCLA, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland, UNC, Gonzaga, etc. Is it telling that one of their "big recruits" is a decent Patriot League player? With all respect to JG, were not talking about CJ McCollum here...

Sorry but Illinois has never been as "prominent" in MBB as Duke, KY, UMD, UNC or UCLA.

Over the last four years, seven players that have been on the team, have not finished their four years at HC.
Time for this trend to end immediately!
Hope the turnaround begins today.
