Think Green, Lowder and Pridgen transferred to programs where they have the chance to be major contributors and get major minutes. Maybe I'll be surprised, but doubt Grandison will get that opportunity at Illinois.

From his bio on Illinois roster:
Majoring in earth, society, and environmental sustainability Chose Illinois because, “It’s a great school academically, and I'm ready to win at the highest level, compete for a Big Ten championship, and help this team prove itself in the NCAA Tournament."

Grandison is getting meaningful minutes for a top ten team. Can we really blame him for transferring out of the train wreck that is the HC program? 1- How meaningful we shall see. He played good minutes in two 50 point routs. Today in a competitive game vs a fair mid major, he played 8 first half minutes. Top 10 ? Possibly, but they did not look like it today. 2- Yes, when we were the only D1 school to give him a scholarship. It may not have become a train wreck if he had not left.

I have not seen him play this year. Has anyone noticed if his defense has improved?

I was just curious...no real concern here. Wondering why hide was benched in the last game. I doubt it was because of his great offensive play.

I thought he played 8 minutes in the first half and never got in the game after that. I must have misunderstood.

If you believe in KenPom's "o-rating" Grandison is off to a great start with an o-rating of 132.8. Two of our other emigrants have not started as well as Caleb Green has a 63.6 and Drew Lowder a 72.9. Disclaimers: just the tiniest of samples and the o-rating is offense only, missing the defensive half of the game

...and then never he left the bench. Isn't that benched? Where was he when he was not in the game? I thought it would be on the bench, but perhaps at that level they have separate rooms.

He was just providing some insight into how it went for Grandison. Yikes. He's trying to be helpful. If you don't like it don't read it. Moving on.

Guys - need I remind you that the topic is here to discuss Holy Cross Basketball AND College basketball.
I understand some threads derail into completely unrelated topics - like the Hart Center Opening transitioning into a discussion of Fergie Jenkins' career - but this thread is clearly titled Jacob Grandison. As far as I know, Illionis is still a college basketball team and Jacob a College BB player.
Some folks are interested in following how he's doing - especially when there is not much HC athletic news to discuss.
Some folks are not interested in following his progress.
If you're not, then you don't have to click on the thread. And if you do click on the thread, there's no reason to comment on how disinterested you are in the topic as I'm not sure what it adds to the discourse.
Carry-on.

Yes, and left with 14:54 so his +/- is a -1

The only reason that I'm looking at (and posting on) this thread is to state for the record that while I wish these former-'Saders well in life, I frankly don't give a rat's patoot how their seasons and basketball careers progress.
(And I won't take the time to post this on the thread for Pridgen, Green, Lowder, Bobby Kelly, Kevin Stacom or any other player who wasn't interested in following through on his commitment to Alma Mater.)

Looks like he's settling into being the 9th man on a team that basically plays 7.
We can debate until we're all blue in the face whether or not it's better to be a marginal contributor on a great college team or a major contributor on a weak team.

After five games, Grandison is averaging nine minutes per game, eighth highest on the team.
I thought he went to Illinois in part because a buddy who played for Wesleyan transferred to Illinois. The buddy, Austen Hutcherson, is on the roster also as a red-shirt junior,, but has yet to see the floor. HC's Joey Reilly is the son of the head coach at Wesleyan.

Many posters here have an odd fascination with anyone who abandons HC. Definitely something unique to Holy Cross fans. I don’t know any Patriots fans interested in what’s going on with Tom Brady in Tampa, Red Sox fans upset with how well Mookie Betts played for the Dodgers, or Celtics fans still upset with Kyrie Irving. Holy Cross is the only place where some people are interested in following former players.
