We all know this is going to be a tough game, but my biggest fear will be our offensive gameplan going into it. Please, for the love of god, install some semblance of a downhill power run game and rotate the rb's throughout the game. If we can even put ourselves in 3rd and 5-6 type situations we'll be in a much better spot than we have been in similar games, it was also allow us to maybe have some success with our passing game, maybe we'll even be able to run some play action. The defense just needs to strap it up and come to play again - They're going to try to wear us down up front so the less time our unit spends on the field in the first half the better... This says about all that needs to be said about the idiocy of HC playing Syracuse in the year of Our Lord 2019. For starters, based on the first three games, we have not even a remote resemblance to a "downhill power run game". Ab initio, such a game requires big dudes in the backfield. We have none.

You have to be a total square to complain about hc playing Syracuse.

Can we agree that HC and Colgate are very similar in profile ? Good. I think there is no basis in fact, over the past 2 decades, of a similarty between HC and Colgate. This Board would be well advised to develop a different fantasy, The reality is that Colgate is better than HC by most academic metrics and they certainly have been kicking our butts in football for a number of years now.

You have to be a total square to complain about hc playing Syracuse. I have no idea what that means. Please explain. Pretty straight forward. Lighten up. It’s a game and we’re playing on the road at a northeast acc school and we’re everyone’s favorite to win the PL. Wanna play at sacred heart or CCSU instead. Merrimack?

"More than anything, the Crusaders, 38½-point underdogs, really want to avoid a repeat of last season’s game at Boston College and get out of Saturday afternoon healthy before breaking into Patriot League play the following week at Bucknell." Syracuse should be able to win by as many points as they want to win by. The players need to stay healthy, extract some benefit from this game, try to enjoy it on some level, and then put it out of their minds as soon as time expires. Without looking past this little field trip to the Carrier Dome, Bucknell is indeed what matters most to HC at this time. I agree. Let's take the cash from the Dome, hopefully without major injuries, and prepare for two Ivy League games and the PL schedule. That's where we can be competitive and where we will be for the lifetime of any participant on this board. That's just the way it is.

This is 100% correct. Every single player on the team would rather play and lose against Cuse than beat a FCS opponent (PL Ring and Playoffs excepted). I don't have any idea whether any of the pitifully small handful of regulars on this board have played football at HC (or any other college for that matter) or know anyone on the present Crusader squad, but I've got to wonder how many of today's actual players would really trade an FBS stomping...if it happens this Saturday (and I sincerely hope it doesn't)...for the "vivid memories" of playing in the Carrier Dome. Has anyone polled the team about how players felt about the shellacking at BC last year? I expect not. I saw HC many times against Army at Michie "back in the day" and those games were generally competitive and we won our fair share. But, sadly, we're not what we were back then and FBS teams like Army and Navy...not to mention the "Cuse"...are better...much better...than they were then. We have no business playing legitimate FBS schools...impostors like UConn excluded...money be damned. That being said, if today's players really like getting their butts kicked by FBS opponents, have at it! I am one of the”pitiful” who briefly attempted to play football for our school nearly fifty years ago, and yes we were beaten badly in those days when there was just a single Div 1- not sure many teammates enjoyed losing or getting trounced, but I would bet precious few if any would not play those games all over again

Wanna play at sacred heart or CCSU instead. Merrimack? Don't know what you mean by "lighten up". Maybe you've forgotten that 62-10 shellacking last year against a mediocre ACC opponent by the name of Boston College. You make it sound like Syracuse is little more than a PL game. The canard about Sacred Heart, CCSU and Merrimack as replacements for the "Cuse" is very old and tired. How about scheduling another Ivy (Dartmouth, anyone?) or CAA schools like Villanova and Delaware. Given where we are, playing FBS schools is insanity on the merits. But money talks, I know.

With how our offense has played recently, Villanova would probably have a good chance to win in blow out fashion. Regardless, I love that we have elevated the bar and are playing Syracuse. Now, let's put together a decent game plan and give the kids a chance to make some plays in the Carrier Dome. Do I expect HC to win? No, but it's a great recruiting tool and allows HC an opportunity to address their weaknesses prior to a PL schedule. What an amazing opportunity for our kids! Assumption Kliff in this week's hype video is saying we are coming to 'compete", so I expect the play caller to put together an actual game plan and try to make atleast 1 adjustment after halftime.

IMO, this game is coming 2 - 3 years too soon for us for make a decent showing. We are a program in transition, and the arc is bending towards a bright future. We have a great coach, premier facilities, and vastly improved recruiting that will soon bear fruit. Patience my friends, and may God watch over us this Saturday. Go Cross!
