You cannot be serious--this is baffling
We really really need to get to the bottom of this matter when walk-ons are registering to transfer

I don't get why people are surprised or concerned that 2-3 kids who are obviously not contributers are leaving.
Lawder(sp) was a loss....these are not.

If forced to make a guess I’d say that Coach must have told these guys that they will be getting zero minutes of play time in the future. That’s no great insight on my part, I know. I’ll change my judgment, and begin to cry, if Pridgen leaves

Which is not good.

I've been told by people who played college ball (a former next door neighbor was on Indiana's last national championship team and had some great stories about Bob Knight) that D1 coaches--Type A folks all--tend to be brutally honest with their players. I imagine BN has told Pridgen, Wade, Butler, Niego, and Faw that they're the core of the team, that they'll all continue to get big minutes, and that with the incoming recruits the future is bright. That means everyone else was told they were not going to play and were perhaps even invited/encouraged to transfer. Another acquaintance who played at BC told me that when a coaching change was made the new coach demanded he give up his scholarship/transfer. Having said all this the parade of departures is disconcerting and does not reflect stability. Of course, when I was at HC I was relegated to intramural ball due to a lack of talent, but it means I still have four years of eligibility left. I could give BN about a minute of point guard play a night.

I do think it’s a little weird that two walk-ons would decide to transfer at the same time. It’s not like they are taking up a scholarship so Nelson ostensibly should not care if they are on or off the team.
But, it’s not like Sandy or Yeutter were going to change the trajectory of the program, so I’m not losing sleep over it.
Pridgen was the only guy on the roster this year, save for Lowder, who would be a significant loss going forward. Losing him would absolutely make me question Nelson’s ability to run a program of his own.

So does Nelson rerecruit Lowder to keep Pridgen, Humphrey and Wade? He has no proven PG
I don’t think he loses the three above....but in this insane period who knows

Also, Nelson is doing everything he can to build a program. I’m sure he soon realized after the first month or so of the season that Hargis, Verbeek et al simply wouldn’t be able to contribute meaningfully — that scholarship would be better off used on other players.
This is Nelson’s livelihood, so I don’t fault him for doing everything in his power to get the best and most talented guys into the program.
This, of course, goes back to the Lowder drama mid-year. We will learn next season if Nelson made a grave mistake by not looking to keep him on board. A lot is riding on RJ Johnson.

Perhaps WG was right and Sandy was on scholarship. I’m guessing Nelson would have been happy to keep Yeutter as a walk-on for depth but Yeutter is smart enough to know that RJ is going to be given the keys next year so playing time may have been scarce.

If Sandy was on scholarship, then the end of Carmody's tenure is even more damning.

Nobody faulting him and believe he has a bright future It is his team, and he, like all of us, want to get this right and feel good about the program
My thought of additional transfers was based on comments by others (Sandy staying with Wade and others visiting Lowder in Michigan) and the relationship both Wade and Lowder have with Humphrey.
Crazy perhaps -possible because I think it is no crazier than what we watched since July

Updated. At most, we have 11 scholarship players currently committed for next year if no one else leaves and Reilly is on scholarship. Going to cry if Pridgen leaves. If he stays and the Frosh pan out, we could be okay. With a few transfers, we could be pretty good as soon as 2021-22.
2024 (4) Humphrey Johnson Rabinovich Martindale
2023 (2) Wade Pridgen
2022 (0)
2021 (3) Butler Niego Faw
2020 Return and/or Scholarship Uncertain (2): Copeland Reilly
Definite Walk-on (1): Hart

Jesus....can you imagine playing at HC this year??? 3-29 to the school year ending in March from a virus pandemic....just had to be brutal.
This (transfers) is going on all ovah the place...a couple of locals here (Greatah NB) are transferring too....Brycen Goodine from Cuse to PC. Noah Fernandes from Wichita St to somewhere. I could see Chris Herren Jr leaving the Heights this year as well.

If Sandy was on scholarship, then the end of Carmody's tenure is even more damning. He was.
Of the 16 scholarship players Carmody brought to Holy Cross, 9 have - voluntarily or otherwise - left the team before graduating. Four of his five walk-ons have also . . . walked. And we still don't know were Copeland is.
Interpret it however you will, it's jaw-dropping. Has there been anything like it in the history of the program, or in the conference?

If the entire roster is getting shaken up, maybe Nelson should bring in a new assistant, as well. Joe Kennedy has been the one constant from the Carmody era to the Nelson one. I'm not sure who he was responsible for recruiting / developing (hchoops mentioned he helped Verbeek to make strides over last offseason), but clearly there has been a disconnect. I'm not sure what value Kennedy brings to the program. I thought it was smart for Nelson to have Kennedy stay on as an assistant to help bridge the gap from the roster under Carmody to transitioning to Nelson, but we can kiss all of that goodbye now.
