Yes, I agree. First, the athlete can always waive HIPAA and OK disclosure of an injury by the school. That happens frequently at bigger programs. Secondly, the athlete is always free to answer a question from the press about his/her injury. What happened to the discussion of the potential new Head Coach?? We had it. It’s Magarity. We like her. Now we’ve turned to what roster she’ll be inheriting. Questions on the table include whether Faulkner will be back and whether she’ll bring any of her UNH recruits with her, at least one of which picked UNH over HC. It can’t be the academics that drew her to UNH (that’s for unhfan) so it must have been the coach.

The only person in a position to make a comment on a player's availability would be the head coach. If you are an Interim head coach after the previous head coach was suspended, not renewed and then filed a law suit against the school and one of the assistant coach mysteriously disappeared, you probably wouldn't volunteer anything about anything.
A permanent head coach who is actively trying to sell the program to the public would probably feel more free to talk about the players and build interest in them and the program.
May I borrow Occam's razor for this question? Since the inception of HC WBB how often has a full scholarship player who is solidly in the rotation made it through three years on the roster and then voluntarily not returned to accept their scholarship for the fourth year?

Magarity will have her work cut out for her. Avery, probably the best floor general in the PL, will be helped by the addition of 4 ‘20 commits. Problem is that there isn’t an inside presence over 5’11” on the roster. ADMB needs to finalize the pick with an announcement so Magarity can go out and find that 6’2”+ ‘diamond in the rough’ who has fallen through the cracks.

Well, I guess you're not counting Demski & Murphy, granted Demske is coming off her 2nd ACL and Murphy has had limited mins due to her own recovery from an ACL. She did play well in her limited mins. I do question Allen size, HC is the only place I've ever seen her listed under 6'1 so who knows. Potentially, they could add up to 3 more scholarshipevent players to the roster, as of the moment they only have 12 on the roster for next year. But I do wonder if there are going to be some self imposed caps on schollies as a result of the pandemic. I've read that many school are cutting their budgets including sports, to save money.

I agree, SoV, but that does not mean that UNH is not also a fine school...one in which its students and alums can take pride.

By every objective measure, Holy Cross is better academically when compared to UNH. UNH also has majors that Holy Cross does not offer...one example is Nursing. The business school also is nationally recognized www.unh.edu/unhtoday/2019/12/top-business-school-four-years-runningMaybe the biggest factor is it is NOT a religious school.

Here in Southwest Florida there are retirees in every house and a church on every corner. I guess that's to be expected in "God's Waiting Room."

So other than this Twitter guy having a pen name of an impeccable (fictional) person, what makes his claim so believable? Still nothing showing up from anywhere else.

If we could only respond to actual news, we’d have a lot less to talk about around here. My gut tells me he’s right about our new coach. Shouldn’t be long now before we find out.

Will the press conference be Magarity at one end of the gym, Blossom at the other and Jen Toland in the middle shouting questions? Kind of a shame because the hiring announcement press conference is generally a sure win for HC.

The news forecasts keep calling for power outages so I've been keeping the heat up. Now I feel like Richard Simmons "Sweating to the oldies". This would not be a good day for an introductory press conference.

With the positive news from the men's program, I'm now waiting for the announcement of our new women's coach - will there be a 'virtual' presser with Q&A ? Let us know, Marcus

It's such a horrendous day here that if this hire was going down, best that it wait until tomorrow.
Just adds to the overall depressing atmosphere in Mass. that it refuses to become spring.

In googling Magarity, interesting to note that even for low major coaches they have representation by agents that specialize in college sports - here is the group that would have represented her in negotiations with HC thebdsagency.com/magarity/

Interesting...one goes to that company's main page and their client list doesn't pop up; nor any search box appear. Yet, one can google Magarity AND bds, and voila.

Wow, she's undefeated. 146 career wins and no losses to be found. If Occam's Razor applies to the negotiations ('92 has me hooked) then HC has the leverage. We have a winning coach in place and Ms. Magarity is a losing coach.
But with the BDS Agents involved it won't be that simple. Every subtlety and nuance of why her victories at UNH are twice as valuable as AM's victories at Holy Cross will be sold convincingly. It will be like Tom Sawyer convincing the lads what a high honor it is to whitewash the fence.
Having said that, welcome aboard Coach Magarity. Just retain Avery and everything should be fine.
