Hmm....is there something going on under the surface here ? Was it ever explained how Bucknell got to host ? FWIW, I'm getting vibes that HC maybe isn't on perceived equal footing at league's HQ nor amoung the Pennsy brotherhood. BTW, what has our AD said about this bunk ? Who gets to play in the championship: Who gets to host With Colgate flopping, Holy Cross didn't play the minimum number of games, so HC never got to C. D., or E. If HC had played and beaten Colgate, then C. would be skipped because there was no common non-divisional opponent, HC beat Lehigh, Bucknell lost to Fordham. Which would get D, which HC would have won, assuming a victory over Colgate. If HC had lost Colgate, HC would still have advanced given its win over Fordham head to head. Thanks. So the beef is only no visiting fans allowed.

My sources tell me that HC is bringing the entire roster to Bucknell. Great news for those players, who have all worked very hard this season and have overcome a lot of adversity.

I hope they all get to play--third string, walk-ons, everybody--when we are up 21 points and have the ball with 3 minutes to play

Nice Bucknell is not limiting the number of visiting players to their campus. You know, erring on the safe side and in an abundance of caution and yada yada yada

It seems like HC is more of a "find a way to win" team than a team that rolls up huge amounts of points. I'll take a win however it comes.

Thus, some 26 of our players can’t suit up even if they are healthy. Seems like a pretty dumb rule, especially when the home team is permitted to dress all 90 players on game day. Yet another head-scratcher by the Patriot League that purposefully creates an uneven playing field.

There's something to pick at in every organization from little league to the Olympics. The Ivy League didn't even try to have a football season.

I’m told the team is leaving today at 5:45PM with an overnight about half way to Bucknell and a scheduled walk-through sometime on Friday after their arrival in Lewisburg.

I’m sure there’s a reason but, without knowing all the considerations, it seems like we’d be better off making the trip once and staying in the same place two nights instead of breaking it into two.

I’m told they are spending the night in Scranton tonight, following by a team breakfast tomorrow and then proceeding to their hotel in Lewisburg to be followed by a walk through at the field.

Two deep out. Foley has opted out I believe the remainder of the year. Slight injury and I'm sure wants to be healthy heading into Duke camp in about 3 months.

The players players won't even have the protections of the Geneva Convention they'll be locked down so tightly in the hotels. Illustrates what a management challenge this is and the effort Holy Cross Football is putting in for us. Beat Bucknell!

But thankful he played this Spring and support his decision. Not implying anything but I'm curious if the NCAA has any rule similar to tampering in the NFL that regulates Duke's contact with the player?

I hope they're staying at the Radisson Lackawanna Station - a grand old building that was once a bustling train station. If you're ever in the area, stop in to check out the lobby - even if you don't stay there. The hotel is immediately adjacent to the University of Scranton, and there are stories that the place is haunted by ghosts of returning WWI and WWII soldiers whose remains arrived by train from New York.

Total changes on the two deep from the Fordham game:
Grady Smith replaces Foley as starting LT. Shipman moved to a backup spot at WR. Gilliam takes the third starter slot after not being on the two deep against Fordham. Kennedy added to the depth chart as a backup. Nagle and Kreimer drop off the two deep.
Lowery replaces Kiessling at backup DE. Doran replaces Leo at backup LB. Hicks replaces Knight at backup SS.
Purdy replaces Asante at backup KR. John Smith and Asante flip spots at PR. Smith now starter and Asante now backup.

Chesney seems to be relying heavily on upperclassmen in many respects due to the limited practice time since the spring season began and the COVID interruptions. I’m hearing that many underclassmen are probably ready to play but need more seasoning.

An email that was just sent out by ADMB:
Dear Crusader Football Parents,
First off, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding during a difficult year. We've been through pauses, stops and starts. However, throughout all of this, the football team has been resilient. I am proud of how they've handled the year. It's no surprise to me that we are playing in the Patriot League Championship game. They are a special (and tough) group.
I'm also emailing to let you know that I've seen the numerous emails about your frustration over not being allowed to attend the Patriot League Championship game at Bucknell. I, too, am extremely disappointed in this outcome. Having fans from one team attend a game isn't a championship experience, and I've made my feelings known to the Patriot League. Nonetheless, the League has allowed each institution to establish its own attendance policy for regular-season and championship games. And, Bucknell's attendance policy hasn't changed the entire year. I communicated with the League my hope that this would change for a championship game -- for any sport -- but it will not. Again, I know that this is not fair to our student-athletes. But, Bucknell has been consistent and this policy was not put into effect just for this game. Their administration enacted this rule because they believe it's in the best health interest of their community, and we have to respect it.
Bob Chesney and the rest of the coaching staff will have the team ready and focused for the game on Saturday despite the circumstances. I can assure you of this. The entire college community is proud of these young men. And again, I'd like to thank you for your patience and understanding.
