Have you noticed that the circle of posters shrinks and shrinks because even the devoted end up losing interest?
There are so many who posted over the years here who have disappeared. They're not dead and not disloyal; they are just beyond discouraged.
Not sure who appointed you speaker for the fanbase.
It is painful for me to acknowledge there is some truth in what nht wrote. Our once storied hoops program endured its worse decade in the teens and this decade hasn’t exactly started well. There is no mojo to be found.
I agree with this. I want HC Hoops to be relevant very badly. And I always get excited when I see young guys playing well and who HC signs. But the start to this year already and the manner in which they are getting blown out discourages many on this board and the excitement and interest wanes quickly because of the last 3-4 seasons.
I'll ask a different question - what is there to be excited about beyond Luc?

I hope in time:
1. Louth learns to master a couple of "pet moves", and becomes a stud in the low blocks. I feel like he is very slowly getting a little more comfortable in general, but struggles offensively because he doesn't have a go to move.
2. Caleb will be better adjusted to the speed of D1, and some of those cross court passes he just misses getting his fingers on will become turnovers and fast break opportunities
3. RJJ will become a better playmaker as he gets to play more and more with his teammates.
4. Bubba will become a team leader as he gains more experience; I think he has some moxie.
5. With help from the coaches, Jud learns how to better create space for himself; when he is able to get in a position to score, he has the ability to be a volume scorer imho. But, he needs to learn how to operate as such, as the opposition clearly recognizes that as well.
Having said all this, there is that whole/sum of parts thing that has to be monitored. Desperate grasping here? Maybe, but what else can one do at this point in time?

I guess we need this thread because there's been no criticism of the hoop team and its coaching before now (insert sarcasm). If HC loses to CCSU someone can start another thread: sssssh........we're REALLY REALLY bad.
I agree we’re really bad and have been for some time.
Not sure that makes those who still root for their team and hope for some improvements “sycophants.” I think they’re just loyal fans. If you don’t want to watch or discuss, don’t. It’s a totally understandable reaction. But the above posts are not really helpful. Do you want everyone to stop paying attention and discussing until we get good again?
If you take out the 23 we hit against D3 teams, we have 33 3-pointers made. The team in the PL with the fewest threes made has 47.
Butdoes that count ALL of thdeirgames (unlike HC where some drop GAMES OUT)? IF THEY ALL COUNT FOR THEM, THERE IS NO BASIS FOR COMPARISON.
Hate to disappoint but I am definitely not going through through the 9 other PL teams and pulling out their D3 game if they played one. The simple point is we do not make a lot of threes and our shooting stats are significantly inflated by the two D3 games.
I would never ask anyone to do something so useless as that. I get your point and I do understand that we do not make a lot of 3 point shots. But, why not simply take the stats from each team's games - all of them? Why this fixation on D3 games with some posters pretending the D3 games played by HC never happened? If you do not exclude the D3 games of other teams. when you take their statistics, why exclude the two played by Holy Cross. IMHO, it really does make comparative numbers less meaningful.
I don't see anything wrong with pointing out how the shooting percentage was enhanced by 4-5% as a result of playing inferior competition. It's like putting up points when you're 30 points behind as opposed to in a competitive game doesn't mean as much.
Nothing "wrong" as such, but it can create a false picture...unless you know the ability level of all of the opponents of the team with whom you are seeking to make a comparison. It is an easy (but not very accurate) why to try to boost a point you are making. The way some see the HC schedule as "two" schedules may do just that. Years back we criticized Navy and some other PL teams for scheduling D3 teams. Now we have done it (and not for the first time). Why not just take the schedule and its opponents as just that? What is wrong with treating the HC schedule as if it were the HC schedule...all of it?
