JVB to Lehigh, happened a while ago although haven’t seen anything publicly posted. On Verbal Commits... JVB's name is not highlighted and when you click on it, it says he has "verbally committed to Lafayette".... well, we know he is not going to Bucknell, according to Bison... so will he be a Mountain Hawk or a Leopard?

A high school student with SAT scores well below the average of a PL Freshman class but who gets good grades in a normal major for two years at a less selective school would have a good probability of succeeding academically at a PL school. The SAT tests aptitude, not actually applying yourself to your studies. What do you consider a "normal" major? Do you consider music to be a normal major? HC offers that.

There is something very strange about his commitment to Lafayette on VC. They have the date of either offer or commitment as 3/27/22. However on that date, Lafayette didn't even have a coach - so it is extremely unlikely any interaction between VDB and LC was happening then. Also he only entered the portal on 3/25, so it's very unlikely he could have had any LC offer in less than two days, coach or no. Also is no post/article on twitter or anywhere on the internet linking him to LC, other than that brief reference on VC. (They list him as an incoming freshman btw.)

Well, looks like "ericobeyyourthirst" was incorrect about JVB committing to Lehigh a while back.... JVB is now listed as a Sophomore on the Lafayette 22-23 roster... goleopards.com/sports/mens-basketball/rosterSo, if he stays at Laffy for 3 years, we will see up close how good he is when the Pards visit the Hart.... Big roster....15 players listed.... maybe Bison can provide info about the 15 player roster....

If he does leave one would have to guess it would be for a D-3 school where he could gain some playing time, as Lincoln Yeutter did

Repeated changes of head coaches after short stints is not a positive for HC basketball. However, the current coach has failed on the most basic level. His record of failure speaks for itself. Transfers are a fact of life. However, it is apparent this coach does not engender any loyalty. His inability to hold onto "his guys" is astounding. Quite simply most players do not want to play for this coach. The youngsters can't get away fast enough. The time is long gone for this coach to enter the transfer portal and leave Worcester.

Transfers are a fact of life. However, it is apparent this coach does not engender any loyalty. His inability to hold onto "his guys" is astounding. Quite simply most players do not want to pay for this coach. The youngsters can't get away fast enough. The time is long gone for this coach to enter the transfer portal and leave Worcester. I don't disagree with anything you say, but in this case it might simply be that the player realized that he was in over his head, basketball-wise. Of course, that raises the question of why this coach has brought in so many players who weren't D-1 players.

One of the possibilities, at least for the walkons, is that they are full pay

Oh, you must be getting Nelson confused with Carmody. Recall, if you will, how poor Brett inherited a bunch of D-3 levels players that he's obviously overcome after 3 seasons. Just you wait. This is our season to shine with a PL championship; a deep run in to NCAAs and a 10 year extension for our head basketball Wizard of Worcester.

Would love to learn the back-story of Vanderbaan to Lafayette - In the middle of last season i was projecting (with another poster here) that he'd end up in Worcester - was he simply not interested ? did admissions reject him? Did we consider Wilbar a better talent ? After getting no offers from major conferences, did he call HC too late ?

There can’t be too may Vanderbaan’s in the Northbridge/Uxbridge area.
